    Here in the philippines our special operations group units is not allowed to sleep for 1 week while in the training they call it hell week,my snappy salute to all of you commandos and to all special operations units in the world

      Umm... No. I'm a former Senior NCO , infantry. 20 years. Not being allowed to sleep for a week is complete and utter bullshit. The longer soldiers go without sleep, the less effective they are. There is no point in trying to train a soldier too tired to absorb the information given him. It's a waste of time, effort, and resources, and bloody dangerous. I've gone days without sleep. Know what happens after 72 hrs of no real, beneficial sleep? You start to hallucinate. I've seen soldiers attack tree stumps, get lost in their own position, and fall asleep on sentry. I've run courses, and yes, we didn't let them sleep much. But when the course candidates are falling asleep in the process of cleaning their weapons, or conducting an orders group, it's time to stop and let them sleep. Soldiers have to think, all the time. They have to make split second decisions, plan, adapt, and persevere. They need to sleep. It's vital.

      That's fucking bullshit. Soldiers needs to sleep in order to execute the mission. I know some of my friends in the SF and I know the training is hard but not getting sleep for a week? That's completely bullshit.

      @@johnt8636 At BUD/s in coronado the seals go through a hell week where they get 2 hours of sleep halfway through the week. They are split up into boat crews and whichever boat crew accomplishes whatever the task at hand is in first place, They get 15 minutes of sleep. Special operations is a different breed. Im not downing you are anybody else for what they have accomplished. But special operations selection courses like BUD/s and SF selection is there to weed people out. That part isnt so much about training. Who can hack strenuous shit and who cant.

      Yeah, yeah; we've all seen the documentaries. But it's actually 4 hours sleep over the week.
      Now, BUD/s is hard as hell. But look at what Hell Week is, and WHERE it is in the training cycle. It's in the conditioning phase. It's a selection. It's about identifying strength, stamina, confidence, teamwork, and separating the chaff from the wheat. There's actually very little "training" going on. And keep in mind what their tasks are: All physical. At a certain point, human physiology takes over and while the body can keep going, the mind basically checks out. Take some guy who just finished Hell Week and before he crashes, give him a map & compass and tell him to plot a 4-leg navigation route, and I'll bet my career that he won't be able to do it. Remember, I'm talking about training, and I actually do know what I'm talking about.

      I think he is talking about the hell week our navy seals go through. I believe it’s 6 days of about only 4-5 hours of sleep. So not no sleep just very little. Also, they are not forced to do complex tasks, all they do is just physically hard tasks to test mental strength. They technical instruction comes after hell week. Hell week and BUDs in general is just a filter.

    Take care each other's like brothers... I think man or woman need... When we over 20 years we already belong to the nation mean all man must take part in the nation issue,. Never noone has no job... We need time to work, to travel... To meet other friends in other nation. This is my desiration ...but all must work 8 hours a day but depends on what that man can work longer or shorter...but must be negotiate between the business owners with the worker...

      ​@@soundgarden8885 how ironic, telling me not to act like i know my stuff, from a guy who thinks commandos operate under sasr. No first of all, I know what the guy from sasr did was inexcusable, but don't pretend you know more than me when you clearly don't. Both Australian commandos and SASR operates under Australia's special operation command, but they are not the same thing. The commandos are split into 2 regiment, 1st and 2nd, 1st are reservist based in melbourne and 2nd in sydney are regular, sasr is its own regiment based in perth. 2nd regiment does sometimes deploy and train with sasr but they have different priorities, commandos are just elite versions of regular army, sasr focuses more on covert ops. You cant join directly from civ to sasr like commandos, aus army also likes to recruit, according to rumours, the more mentally intense and what some would say crazy for sasr, after all when they are going to be sent behind enemy lines and hesitating to kill is not an option, which also appears to be the case considering all the past questionable stuff and controversy that sasr has been involved in the past.

    If only they were used in the lindt cafe siege, which i believe the ADF said were ready, just need the green light from command of the NSW Police TRG commanders, but NOPE they said that they can handle it and i bet every single Commando that day watching it unfold were saying if the TV cameras which were right across the road can get a beed on monis ,why the TRG sniper did not take a shot and stop monis dead in his tracks bomb or no bomb ,which is why the sniper from TRg is now suing the NSW Police force for negligence and liability for not following the TRG's own rules and hand book procedures that day? also i hope everything comes out and why on earth over 6 flash bang grenades were thrown into the entrance hallway and not inside were monis was, well i will tell you why, because they were scared to shit think they might get shot and how on earth did the hostages get out on their own, yet they had a mad man inside with a shot gun, but i know what people are saying right now all well and good in hindsight, but wait a minute people were posting as it was happening why the snipers had not shot him yet, when they had him in the scope for over 10 minutes? I totaly respect the SASR/SASNZ and the two commando units. both i would consider tier one units really, just that the commandos are used for more direct action where the SASR are used for mainly for spycraft and intel for the military even though they too use them for direct action and the worst part of the SASR and the same with others around the world they think they are above the laws of each land, but they are not and that's why ex members are coming forward and serving members as well to tell the truth of what other members have done which is strictly not legal in military laws as far as what you can and cant do?
    I wonder how many of the SASR/commandos have left and joined the SEALS etc. :)

    Think this is hard? You should try where I retired from. CSOR/JTF2, Canada. 14 years of deployments, 4 years of SF until i took a rifle round to the neck and it ended my career. Died twice on the way to Germany for surgery. This "special forces trainning" is what our basic training looks like.

    Comparing what I see here with the SAS and other Special Task Forces training all over the world what I've seen and its sad to say that there is a huge difference. Sorry but I am not convinced that they are testing the recruits to their absolute limits. I recall the instructor mentioned that they test the troops in that swimming pool because its too hot outside?!!..... The Australian Outback would be the best environment for Special Forces Training Selection.

      Hoj boj He was a disturbed individual who’s commander should have been watching and pulled him out of patrol duties. That was a command error. That he was gee’d up is human, he lacked the self-awareness to bring himself back under control. He will go to jail. We are a country of laws.

      HA holy shit mate educate yourself. 2CDO aswell as SASR are highly trained and applicable in conventional and non conventional warfare. They have worked with Green Berets, SEALS, British SAS (known for being the best in the world) all of which have spoke of AU SOF as being some of the best. not to mention with some basic research about combat not SELECTION you would know Australian SF are fuckin pristine. This for example, In a six-year period the Australian and New Zealand SAS in Vietnam conducted nearly 1,200 patrols and inflicted heavy casualties on the Viet Cong, including 492 killed, 106 possibly killed, 47 wounded, 10 possibly wounded and 11 prisoners captured. Their own losses totaled one killed in action, one died of wounds, three accidentally killed, one missing and one death from illness. Twenty-eight men were wounded. During the period of its deployment 580 men served in the SASR in Vietnam. A lot of people don't realize what lengths the Australian special forces will go to to get the job done. For example in the early 1980s when the SAS was setting up their counter-terrorist capability they had no information on what the human body could tolerate as far as explosions, gas attacks, etc. Their response was to test it on themselves. Several tests involved setting off door-breaching explosives, while standing two meters away around a corner, that the army safety manual recommended be set off from a kilometer away. Another test involved a tear-gas round for outdoor riot control that was set off inside a bus. The gas was so thick inside the bus that the troopers couldn't see their hand held in front of them. It overwhelmed their gas masks (never mind the poor buggers who where playing hostages) and overwhelmed several of the troopers before one managed to break the windows. Another fun thing they did was stand among dummies while snipers shot live ammo at them. In the fifty-year history of the SASR around 40 troopers have been killed, only a couple of those have been due to enemy action. The rest were deaths during training.
      The 2nd Commando Regiment was established on 19 June 2009 when it was raised from 4th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (4 RAR (Cdo)), becoming Australia's first regular commando capability. In 2019, the unit celebrated its 10th birthday.
      This development was conducted through a period of continuous operational tasking with collective deployments to Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste (East Timor), Iraq and Afghanistan. Throughout these operations, 2nd Commando Regiment served with distinction, most notably receiving the Unit Citation for Gallantry for its service as a part of the Special Operations Task Group in 2005-2006. So as i said educate yourself ya fool... Note: On most top 10 sof au comes up a fair bit, backed by facts, but i mean thailands still a formidable force but mate just cause 5 percent of you die in selection, that doesnt make you more effective in the battlefield. Its also about mutual respect something i definitely dont see in thai marine recon selection or training. Id rather risk my life to save a superior who coached and taught me the ropes effectively not brutally. All the same brothers in arms
