It's a delicate issue, but the MGSV appears to be complete, it's just not the way many wanted. MGSV came with a story presented in the form of a television series with cutscenes and expressive acting devoid of dialogues plus new gameplay (in fact tactical-espionage-action idealized by Kojima all along, but not implemented before because of limitations). Would more vehicles, enemies, weapons, cutscenes, more detailed plot and other things be cool? Certainly. 3:44:04 he says "give her the shot already" which is a reference to the ground zeroes tape where an enemy soldier voiced by the same person as miller says it, basically people have theorized that the person there is in fact kazuhira miller burger guy
@@stripethecatsoldier it is more or less confirmed that it was Miller himself. It's the same VA as Miller in both English & Japanese, besides how else would've Paz survived the Zeke fight? Miller was the only person with direct ties to both Cipher and MSF in the entirety of Peace Walker, and he was on Mother Base during that fight. So the running theory is that Miller fished Paz out of the ocean, shipped her to Guantanamo and was present when Paz was being operated on, but walked out immediately before Skull Face came in with the bombs. Therefore, he was on kahoots with Skull Face regarding Paz & Chico, but had not been informed about neither the planned attack on Mother Base, nor the presence of bombs inside Paz's body.
In Snake Eater, Sokolov compliments Snake’s Russian, implying the dialogue is fluent in Russian, but is shown through the game as fluent English. I wish MGSV had non-English native speakers have different accents to reflect that Venom doesn’t have the same language skills. Maybe Kaz could drop some Japanese expecting Venom would get it, only to realize he “lost” his capacity for any language besides English.
I had this pipe dream idea when the game dropped where some plot contrivance would bring us back to Russia, but the layout would be completely unrecognizable and different because MGS3 was Venom going through hypnotherapy but it could only get sorta close to the real thing. A jungle in Russia??? Really, Snake???
@@SpaceJamzzz that could work, except for the fact that in 1964 (Operation Snake Eater's year) Tajikistan (a country with lush jungles, mountains and forests) was part of the USSR and is apparently where MGS3 is supposed to take place
You know? That's actually really clever, I totally forgot Snake was fluent in Russian, yet, one of the first things you have to do in MGSV is collect a Russian interpreter. I mean, it's still kinda dumb, because Ocelot can *also* speak russian, and he doesnt do a damn thing for you, but I digress. My point is, that's a pretty damning clue from as soon as the first mission in Afghanistan that Venom and Snake are not the same individual.
When you try to interogate an enemy in mgsv for the first time ocelot mentions that its strange for vemon to lost his ability to speak and blames it for the metal that got stuck in his head.
At the very end of this video is a "phone call" mentioning the pieces of Eden and Vidic from Assassin's Creed. I went back to glance at the AC videos and noticed something: This video was uploaded on March 13th (Or 313) and the Brotherhood video is part 3 of a series of 13 videos (again 313). Wait he mentioned the costumes that AC Brotherhood and MGS4 had for each other too in that Brotherhood video right?! After doing VR training... Fuck man I dont do ARGs but im super interested to see where this goes.
not only that, but the number he dials at the end of the video on a dial call phone sounds like he put in a 3 1 3 to make the call, a shortish dial sound, a really short sound, and an equal dial sound to the first
Great video. I always hoped Steak Bently would make a follow-up to the classic "Metal Gear Solid 4 was a Mistake" video and this seems like the next best thing. Now if you can make the part II to talk about the ending...
After going through it again and S ranking all the main missions to unlock the Raiden outfit, I feel like 5 had the potential to be a much bigger expansion on the story. Especially with Zero.
Okay I was like "I feel like I've seen this before" and I went through your older videos and saw this was a compilation video of your 5 part series (i'm counting peace decrease).
2:17 I can just perfectly imagine snake reading "data cassette (do not use in cassette player)" out loud before putting it in his cassette player only to then be hit by that noise and go "Argh! Kaz, what the hell was that!?"
I will watch this video once i've gone through all the titles mentioned at the start. I still watch the kh3 vid on a regular And I love how you almost always read every single comment
It's worth remembering that Huey's accusation of Miller working with Cipher is actually true, it's just ill timed and from a players perspective, not well known unless you also 100% completed Peace Walker.
It started as a review and ended up becoming V just like the game itself. He is snake, boss, V, whoever it doesnt matter he was him all along we played the game
This was truly worth the wait. I’m truly proud to be a fan, witnessing you grow your writing, sense of pacing and editing. I also feel like you might have more confidence in yourself, well I hope you do, because you have real talent
That's very nice of you to say, thank you very much. And yes, I have gained some confidence in myself since I started making these videos. Specifically in my own voice.
The conflicting tone was always something that stood out to me. For every goofy cutscene of Ocelot singing happy birthday to Snake, there's a traumatic scene of Quiet about to be raped. It's very jarring Also the Sly Cooper 3 music at 1:20:01 gave me flashbacks to my childhood
I think the tone being mismatched is people taking the literal canon narrative and the unrelated side stuff like easter eggs and putting them together. Of course it's tone deaf, it was never meant to be taken in that context like that.
Was this a 40 minute introduction video just to see how interested I was in watching through the whole thing? You just got the full watch time from for for sure
I really love how you wear your influences on your sleeve instead of shying away from them in fear of seeming derivative. I see a lot of the DNA from Steak Bentley's MGS3 video here & that's a massive compliment. It's people's inspirations & what they do with them that makes them unique & there's nothing quite like your content out there. You're the first guy I've seen to tie an entire ARG to a video game review. That's pretentious & needlessly complicated, just like how a true genius kojumbo fan would do it. Don't be deterred from doing stuff like this in the future because a few people are complaining, it's great.
For those wondering, that Ground Zeroes tape that is just random noise is actually the sound of an MSX booting up a game, possibly a game called "Portopia" and that game influenced the original metal gear Just so you guys know, my source is a random comment on Reddit
I’ve seriously been following the ARG since June of 2023 and have like a ten page document keeping track of everything. Now I’m stuck and I don’t know if I’m missing anything or if maybe that’s the point.
@@Хорошийигровойканал oh yeah that's because the goal of Abstergo during the Desmond saga of Assassin's Creed was to mind control the entirety of the world's population to enslave humanity with the objective of stopping wars entirely and ensuring eternal world peace. So in a sense, Warren Vidic is one of the inheritors of The Boss's will.
A few more tricks in case they haven’t been mentioned in other comments- Children- You can call in a vehicle and put them in it, then Fulton the vehicle to rescue them. PF Points- The weekly league happens automatically, and you earn more points as your army gets stronger. If you quit playing they continue to accumulate. I played the game when it first came out and a few years later and I had way too many points. I think it’s console\PC specific. FOBs- Many people turn on security challenge and lower their level so people can freely beat their empty bases for money and materials. I did the same last play through. DDog Fulton + Rocket Punch + Wormhole = Easiest Game Finally there was one I didn’t know, it was the fully charged arm. That’s awesome and will be trying that next play through!
that line about being covered in oil and being fucked if it starts raining was great. amazing video, hilarious yet still well made script. this is good shit
I love how even thought most of the metal gear community doesn’t like most of what Konami has done the studio is still 14000 times better than the call of duty executives.
As I was watching this video at 4:43:30 i thought to myself "Man i want to watch a long video essay on kingdom hearts 3 since i cant be asked to play the game" only for you to flash such a video on screen was crazy
I've commented on the individual parts before, but I wanna use this collection to just lay it all out. I LOVE this series of videos. The basic analysis of the game from a story and gameplay level is incredibly solid, the humor style gives these videos so much personality, and the whole incorporation of the initial no-kill run and the trumpets to represent Snake's gradual corruption over the course of the story, as well as how the mechanics push the player to become corrupted themselves, is one of the coolest examples of experimental storytelling I've ever seen. And on top of that, all the music you made for these videos is incredible, so much so that it lead to me becoming a big fan of your music in general, detached from this whole project. (And, breaking the kayfabe for a second, all that stuff with the other channel has been extremely interesting. It started off with me checking it out and leading a few cringey comments not understanding the bit and then trying poorly to play along, but since I've just become fucking captivated by it, watching others try to figure it out. It's really fascinating, even if most of it goes over my head.) All in all, this series has been extremely fun to follow, and as sad as it is that it's over, I'm super excited to see what comes next with more of the Assassin's Creed stuff and whatever follows that. Really hope you decide to do something with Death Stranding like you said you might one day, I'd love to see your take on it. But either way, looking forward to the next upload, whenever it's ready!
Not a clue what 90% of your ramblings mean. Got recommended the video by Algo. 2.5 hours in. Video is great. At least the trumpet thing makes some sense now.
@5:40:00 i think the biggest reason why people say they want to go and play games even after all the negatives, what i think at least, is the honesty you bring forward about it. People know what they like, and will enjoy things regardless of the quality. And someone being thorough with the game and highlight everything about it will resonate with alot of people. Great vidya.
You can still use your buddy to stop vehicles, but yeah, the commander being sandwiched between two tanks would make even that near impossible without having previous knowledge.
It’s funny I’ve gotten back into the phantom pain lately and I see all these comments on mgsv videos posted 9 years ago and my goofy ass can’t help but comment that on everyone single one, I hope the original commenters see them.
Cameras are another way the enemies counter specific playstyles from the player, just like headshotting makes soldiers wear helmets, sniping makes them use decoys, etc. Not sure what triggers the need for cameras though
I cannot even begin to appreciate how you utilized the Sly Cooper soundtrack during your mission breakdowns. Not only made me want to replay Sly Cooper, but ALSO play this game but only exclusively with that soundtrack playing. Haha. 😂👍🏻

So I will be watching them after this video (esp the kingdom hearts ones). Also I am going to send my son the song "No more bread". Elementary kids in my area strangely say " Bread!" when they are really happy about something. I guess they must really love bread... And I don't blame them. Thank you so much for uploading your content! You're awesome. And I hope that you may never run out of bread again.
Is it possible to know this author opinion and recollection about the real ending of the game without jumpung though hoops? I just want a complete essay if possible
I started watching this video a week ago out of curiosity, and ended up being so hooked I watched it during my lunch break for the rest of the week, and am finally finishing it today, after a day of errands. I've found a new favorite channel, easily. Amazing narration, talented composition, perfect choices of existing video game music (all the Sly Cooper music made me so happy, especially that you included themes that WEREN'T the Paris overworld theme); I loved the narrative you spun throughout it, really appreciated how you played the game so cleverly, and even though I've played this game three times, you still framed the story engagingly enough that I found myself coming back to this even though I've never watched a video this long, ever! This video deserves more praise than I can even give out, but I wanted to shout out the catharsis of Boss finally letting loose after rescuing Code Talker--I love how you 'foreshadowed' it by how beautifully you killed the PFs during the child soldiers mission. I consistently get S ranks on my first try, and your grouping and accuracy seriously impressed me.
2:24:00 I felt you got robbed there - you can fulton people that normally can't be fultoned by putting them in a car first and fultoning that. Him falling out automatically is shenanigans.
Truly insane video, the commitment to the actual narrative itself is telling is absurd. That runtime didn't make sense until the end but I very much appreciate how you decided to end it. Was going to leave a longer comment but I have a serious headache now and I keep hearign trumpets WHERE ARE THEY COMING F
To be completely fair, The End had functional lungs and was able to breathe. Quiet’s lungs were damaged by the attack at the beginning of the game, so she relies more heavily on her parasite’s photosynthetic abilities to replace her lungs whereas The End used them to conserve his body’s energy by channeling the parasite’s. I dunno, it made sense to me and never bothered me (except in the trailer where it seemed like it was just for sexualizing her character).
Kojima could have written her to have functional lungs if he wanted to and the English strain parasites would still play their part in her story and character. He really did just want a bikini sniper.
@@joshuapaul1715 sure but the parasites were given to her secretly like fox die inside of snake’s nano machines. The English strain was buried within the parasites that were given to her to treat her injury and allow her to keep living. And her lung injury is important as it stands in order to escape her in the beginning of the game.
The amount of love, care, effort, humour, production value, detail, and just general creativity and passion put into this video made me genuinely emotional. I had no idea who this channel was and I’ve never played or even really heard about a Metal Gear game in my life but I was absolutely enthralled by this whole video, we are so so lucky to live in a time where people make media like this out of passion and share it with the world for free. Thank you so much uncle, instantly subbed and will be going back through your old videos now, you are incredible :)
Your immersion towards the game genuinely made me boot MGSV up quite a few times whilst watching this video. The way you add your own subtle headcanons to your understanding of MGSV (e.g Silent Mastodon being Snake's best man) is such, such a fun way to look at the game. Your variegated approach towards the stealth, voiceovers, methods of playing the game, etc., are super fun to watch. You've earned my sub - and thank you for reigniting my urge to play MGSV. It's impressive considering I have around 220 hours on the game. Just goes to show how captivating your storytelling and gameplay showcases are.
When I first met the puppy that’s supposed to become D-Dog I didn’t have any tranquilizer rounds so I just shot him. I don’t even know why. Eventually I went back to get the puppy but by that point it was late enough in the game that Quiet was willing to dispatch on missions with me so when D-Dog was also fit for missions there was just no reason to use him. Quiet is just infinitely more useful. I’ve finally started actually using him for missions since I maxed out my bond with D-Horse and Quiet. Just for completions-sake at this point.
It's the same with me. I didn't even find out you could get D-Dog until I had already beaten Skull face. I never used him on Walker Gear. I'm looking to replaying it eventually in a couple years because I'll approach it very differently than my blind playthrough
Did i just watch an almost six hour video breaking down a nine year old video game that i beat multiple times? I did. I must really like this Metal Gear stuff
I didn't see any comments mentioning how dope your original music is, so I had to leave one. Bread No Longer in particular! (Also please fedex me a link to the secret ending, ty)
I finally finished the video, and I am now an official Uncle fan. I'll be looking forward to your next endeavors with great interest. I really enjoyed how you took the story and made it your own, including your own elements of fun and insights into YOUR version of Venom. For me, Venom was a saint and he gave up on the fascade of a hero at the very end. After being pushed down so many times he decided to be the villain the world wanted him to play, but you showed a different path to a much more apothetic and blood-lust venom, and I absolutely loved it. The moment that really gave me goosebumps was realizing that by not covering part 2 of MGSV, you recreated the same "phantom pain" of the game. Like MGSV your video is complete and how you designed it, but there's still a thirst for just a little bit more, an unending quest for vengeance that can never be quenched. Thank you for this video, MGSV was the first metal gear game I played and because of that it holds a special place in my heart, I'm glad that you've recreated a bit of the magic I felt playing it and hopefully it will inspire others to play it too. I really hope at some point in the future you take a look at Death Stranding in a similar way to this. It's a fantastic game that makes you feel empathy and connectivity with the main character and with other players. If you come at it with an open mind, the emotions it will make you feel will surpass any other game. Thanks Uncle Edit: Holy Crap there's an ARG too
Ground Zeroes felt half Prequel and half showing off the Fox Engine. Which was very cool at the time. I'm a hardcore fan so I loved the Deja-Vu fan-wank missions. As for the price, I accepted it for what it was by comparing it to going to the cinema. $50 for 90 minutes of entertainment for the entire family seemed fair at the time.
Yup. This is the type of video essay that simply goes down in history. It's a matter of time this gets put on the fucking podium. Absolutely unbelievable storytelling from start to finish, the production value is through the fucking roof. This isn't basic analysis, this is full fledged storytelling.
I wished the mother base was more like the one in peace walker, with actual stuff that makes it look like a military base and not an oil rig. I feel like the big spaced out nature of it could’ve worked if there was more stuff in the spaces between, just to show progression. Also I wish there was a runway that would deploy choppers or a plane from a hanger whenever you deploy a squad. Wouldn’t it have been sick to see the metal gear sitting on a small platform next to the command platform as well? I also like to imagine that Fulton get picked up by a cargo plane as they do in real life, because Fulton are based off Fulton skyhooks
This is my favorite game of all time, and this is probably my favorite video about said game. Well done. I love your outro because I try to do the same.
@@WoobertAIO dang, the more ya know! Idea still stands though, you just don’t need a line from Miller about the jungle LOL
I went back to glance at the AC videos and noticed something:
This video was uploaded on March 13th (Or 313) and the Brotherhood video is part 3 of a series of 13 videos (again 313).
Wait he mentioned the costumes that AC Brotherhood and MGS4 had for each other too in that Brotherhood video right?! After doing VR training...
Fuck man I dont do ARGs but im super interested to see where this goes.
Oh wow you might be onto something here
what is wrong with you people???
not only that, but the number he dials at the end of the video on a dial call phone sounds like he put in a 3 1 3 to make the call, a shortish dial sound, a really short sound, and an equal dial sound to the first

Great video. I always hoped Steak Bently would make a follow-up to the classic "Metal Gear Solid 4 was a Mistake" video and this seems like the next best thing. Now if you can make the part II to talk about the ending...

This whole part on is genius. As well as the preceding MG1 omen and the "I would've preferred Metal Gear 2". Yeah, I bet you would've, Venom.
Appreciate the dishonored acknowledgment
Agreed. Game feels different ina good way.

The perfect video for those 6 hours shifts. I would still rewatch this series without the group re upload. Having it is super appreciated!
This dropped on my birthday, how coincidental.
Thank you uncle. Metal Gear Solid 5 has to be one of my favorite video games.
Happy birthday!
It really was right infront of us
The real Big Boss was the wars we perpetuated along the way...
It's very jarring
Also the Sly Cooper 3 music at 1:20:01 gave me flashbacks to my childhood
I didn’t mind it, seems like it was intentional
I think the tone being mismatched is people taking the literal canon narrative and the unrelated side stuff like easter eggs and putting them together. Of course it's tone deaf, it was never meant to be taken in that context like that.
Not only do skulls face and the king share a voice actor, Kaz and Deputy Beagle do as well
Phantom Limbs: "I don't suppose you came here to rescue me, Boss? I'd cross my fingers, but my hand is numb."

God I love this channel
I think my favorite quote is "Wow, this game autosaves?!" 😂
I swear i've watched this video before. I vivdly remember a video about MGSV mentioning there being little to no footage of the 2015 VGAs
You sure you're not just remembering the separate parts from ~a year ago?
This is a compilation video of the different parts of a series

If it's about ending mr Vidic are lead scientist from Assassin's Creed

@@Хорошийигровойканал oh yeah that's because the goal of Abstergo during the Desmond saga of Assassin's Creed was to mind control the entirety of the world's population to enslave humanity with the objective of stopping wars entirely and ensuring eternal world peace.
So in a sense, Warren Vidic is one of the inheritors of The Boss's will.
@@WoobertAIOI don't think there will ever be a part V.
A few more tricks in case they haven’t been mentioned in other comments-
Children- You can call in a vehicle and put them in it, then Fulton the vehicle to rescue them.
DDog Fulton + Rocket Punch + Wormhole = Easiest Game
Finally there was one I didn’t know, it was the fully charged arm. That’s awesome and will be trying that next play through!
Thanks Uncle. The dedication and details were inspiring
that line about being covered in oil and being fucked if it starts raining was great. amazing video, hilarious yet still well made script. this is good shit
The best MGSV series returns in full form. Well done on all the hard work, can't wait to watch!
I love how even thought most of the metal gear community doesn’t like most of what Konami has done the studio is still 14000 times better than the call of duty executives.
That isn't saying much
As I was watching this video at 4:43:30 i thought to myself "Man i want to watch a long video essay on kingdom hearts 3 since i cant be asked to play the game" only for you to flash such a video on screen was crazy
The subtle shift towards lethal violence as the game progresses and Venoms' 'horn' grows was really spectacular, great video!
It's really fascinating, even if most of it goes over my head.)
All in all, this series has been extremely fun to follow, and as sad as it is that it's over, I'm super excited to see what comes next with more of the Assassin's Creed stuff and whatever follows that.
You’ve made this so much more visually engaging?! Nice.
You can still use your buddy to stop vehicles, but yeah, the commander being sandwiched between two tanks would make even that near impossible without having previous knowledge.
Oh boy, I can’t wait to see a compilation of the original videos with absolutely nothing added because he completed the whole game!
Boss… it’s been 9 years….
Oh my god, finally the full series is out!! I've been waiting since the first video!

this is.... probably one of if not my most beloved videos known to man, thank you, Uncle.
Wait, wait, isn't there something missing? Like, a lot of something missing? How very strange...
Truly insane video, the commitment to the actual narrative itself is telling is absurd. That runtime didn't make sense until the end but I very much appreciate how you decided to end it. Was going to leave a longer comment but I have a serious headache now and I keep hearign trumpets WHERE ARE THEY COMING F
u are literally my favorite channel at the moment - love your content and especially how the vids are written ❤
This video is my first impression of your channel, and I know I love it because the intro rolls about 40 minutes deep into the video
Any stealth game in which the best strategy is to run straight at your armed enemies and beat them up is incredibly stupid and I love it.
33:25 the thunder and lightning drowning out your voice was hilarious

Thanks Uncle
Edit: Holy Crap there's an ARG too
Very strange how in a game where one of the core themes is language, not a single person on Cyprus speaks greek
because the area in Cyprus they're in is a british occupied area, owned or operated by/with Major Zero.
Ground Zeroes felt half Prequel and half showing off the Fox Engine. Which was very cool at the time.
I'm a hardcore fan so I loved the Deja-Vu fan-wank missions.
As for the price, I accepted it for what it was by comparing it to going to the cinema.

Yup. This is the type of video essay that simply goes down in history. It's a matter of time this gets put on the fucking podium. Absolutely unbelievable storytelling from start to finish, the production value is through the fucking roof. This isn't basic analysis, this is full fledged storytelling.
Welp, I wrote this while listening to the ending part. I just reached the last few seconds of the video. I teared up when I heard the horns again
