At the end of the day, the story development and flow fell short. It may turn out to be a great story, but if one only played the main quest as everyone was saying to do, they would miss out on a huge chunk of the story and the part that ties it all together. I finished only the main quest last night and hopped online today to find out what am I missing because the story was stupid and completely disjointed. Turns out the side quests are part of the main story and little in the game pushes you in their direction. I would have walked away from the game thinking this was one of the dumbest stories I've played through in a long time.
That’s part of why I love Assassins creed. There is more to the story. Try to finish all quests. I liked Odyssey more but Valhalla answered many questions.
I wanted to take note of something, when Basim (Loki) was making the pledge that he will bring his family back he said children. I just remembered in Norse mythology his children referred to not only Fenrir but Jorganmander (World Serpent) and the goddess giant Hel.
You can't blame Basim / Loki. Odin proved during the game AND during the metaphorical visions that he was a giant douchebag who harmed Basim / Loki family and felt no compassions even for his most trusted follower Tyr.
In the next game, who knows. While reviving the Isu (which we suspect will happen listening to Basim's words), even layla and desmond can be revived. their minds are still intact, they can use the phoenix project.
Loki in the game is shown as a researcher who loves knowledge and his wife shared most of his ideals. He was okay with humans and other beings Isu believed to be inferior but Odin and other Isus hated them and this led to a clash between them. To be honest, Loki and his wife just wanted their family and still want that, he was mad at Eivor because he felt absurd at the fact that the one who did all these bad things to his family forgot about all this. His madness was valid but still, he respected Eivor.
If you dont know what Basim meant with his son here is my theory. Basims son is Fenrir, cuz Basim is actually Loki. Fenrir was then almost killed by Odin(Eivor). In the Story of Valhalla Basim (Loki) wants revenge
I might have missed something, but when layla enters the yggdrasil machine and basim/loki escapes, shouldnt svala/freyja be there too? Did loki manage to kick her out so that her mind went back out to a probably dead body?
It seems that Sigurd didnt knew that Basim being a Isu would make that he would not be in a complete darkness as he says to Eivor, since Valka's mother is a human and do not have a Isu blood, this made her frozen, but Basim not
It is obvious that the reader is Desmond, don't be like that... "I think I have a Theory blah blah" whenever it's so obvious that it's right in front of your face lmao 😂
You also have no idea how to say some names correctly like at all lmao can't blame it on your accent either, cause it doesn't force you say Isu wrong or say Sigurd wrong... You literally say Siguard.. there is no "a" in the word so you shouldn't be screwing up his name so badly... Sigurd isn't a damn guard lmao so don't call him Siguard when it's Sigurd.
In my opinion Basim is reincarnation of Loki, so are Eivor and Sigurd (Odin and Tyr). So when Basim talks of his Family he means Fenris and Angrboda(Athletheia). Cause during the fight Basim always says Eivor will pay for what he has done to his son....
You’re actually right. That’s exactly what it is. Odin and tyr and the other aesir isu transferred their minds into the tree of life to be reborn again in another time (eivor and all the others) basim is one of the few that remembers his isu life clearly, which is why he refers to it so vividly. Possibly because his life as a hidden one and their extensive knowledge of the isu, he was probably able to remember his past life. I dont think basim is a bad character but a morally grey one.
@@tito2471 Yes. But having said that, Basim etc. are all Isu. I don't know if Basim(Loki) will be the new modern day protagonist. He's more of the new main antagonist in the modern day, like Juno was. We have to wait for the new Assassin's Creed game to get that confirmed. Unless we get that answered in the upcoming DLCs. And just a small correction Basim was inside "the grey" for over thousand years, not thousands of years. And he just want to bring back his family, not the entire Isu race.
I get where you're coming from mate. I agree he will be the new modern day antagonist, but then we also get to control him at the end fo the game so that's why I was throwing it out there :)
The first thing I thought when meeting the Reader was "That's definitely Desmond!" I only thought that, because of him constantly looking through end of the world scenarios.
Bassim is Loki and wants to re-unite with his children, when he was fighting Eivor in the ISU lap, he said "for my son" the same thing Loki said when he was fighting Odin in the Nilhaim mission
Remember In the last asguard mission when the future tellers or whoever they were showed eivor his future but they said “ this will ripple through midguard for eternity” meaning by cheating fate he opened up all these timelines. That’s what I believe we are now is all these timelines opened because eivor or “ Odin” cheated his fate
The reader is Desmond He died when he actived the eye and his personality and Self where transferred to the simulation and he started to read possible ends of the world and how to save them
My theory: is that Eivor might actually be Odin, this will explain a lot of things. First of all Isu don’t have power to communicate through mind (as Odin does to Eivor), second is that when Basim says “Look down to the deepest of your memories” Eivor in the final fight “MY SON” is the reflection of how Odin and Mad one betrayed the son of Loki “The giant wolf” in the quest Bound to fate, Binding to Fate, Cheating fate. And also... in those quests when Eivor drinks potions he can see through aprons memories, but, as we learn later, ( by collecting the pieces of anomalies) that these visions are nothing but a poor reflection of actual memories, it’s that the Odins memories were inside of Eivor head all along. I’m tired of typing but so you know that these are not that half of the points to my theory. If you are interested message me on discord Shesse#7811
Remember I’m in the lady asgaurd mission when the future tellers or whoever they were showed that when eivor altered his fate that it would ripple through midguard for time to come. Well this is that happening when eivor cheated his fate it caused all these ripple affects through mid guard that’s what we are seeing now
She went to slow it down ( can t shut it down cause there would be no radiation shield ) and found the reader ( probably desmond ) and chose to not slow it down cause the reader told her that another catastrophe would apear and would end world so she chose to die from radiations and stay in the same place as the reader and find another solution (not as you said that by slowing it down there would be no protection )
It was pretty clear they were reincarnated. Sacrificing something so you can be remembered by the tree, and live on after death. Although I thought Loki was gonna be Sigurd, forgot about basim. And it’s pretty cool how they hinted Loki was basim
OK we all know that the reader is Desmond but remember that subject 16 cut scene, where is subject 16 tells Desmond to find Eve and that the key is in her DNA. And more Importantly when Juno says when cross the other side she will be waiting for you. I feel like I’m forgetting some thing or were missing parts of the puzzle here help me out guys.
Crazy theory, but what if time travel somehow becomes a thing (or a simulation through the Gray) and Desmond and Layla become Adam and Eve from the Isu times
Good effort but there's so many things wrong with this. In order to understand the Eivor/Sigurd/Basim connections you have to relate it back to when we've seen Sages in the past, aka reincarnations of Aita. The same thing is going on here; there's just a lot more 'Sages' of different Isu than we thought (specifically the eight plus Loki that we see in the hidden truth cutscene). If you played the Asgard/Jotenheim arcs, you would not only understand that Eivor, Sigurd and Basim are reincarnations (Sages) of Odin, Tyr and Loki respectively, you would also understand the motive behind Loki's desired revenge against Odin; Odin killed Loki and Alethia/Angrboda's son; Fenrir (represented in the dream world as a giant wolf. The true Isu nature of Fenrir is unknown). We also know Loki and Alethia had other children. THIS is what he means when he says he wants to bring his family back together in the modern day; not the Isu as a whole (also Juno's dead thanks to the Phoenix Project, that plot was dropped in 2018). You'd also understand Loki and Alethia's relationship if you listened to the dialogue during the anomalies. And in regards to the Reader; I don't understand how you missed that the Reader is obviously Desmond; he has the same voice and references it in the dialogue. This isn't ambiguous; it's all but confirmed. You'll notice that the resemblance to Adam and Eve also resolves the plotline introduced in the Truth segment of AC Brotherhood. Also Basim hasn't been trapped in the gray for 'thousands and thousands of years'; more like just over a thousand. Eivor was around in the late 800s, we're now in 2020.
Did you even play the game? Did you pay attention? Did you listen to the voices? Did you play the Asgard and Jotunheim arcs? Eivør is reincarnated Odin. Sigurd is Reincarnated Tyr. Basim is reincarnated loki. Basim/Loki has been hooked up to Yggdrasil for 1200 years, not thousands and thousands. And if you played Origins or Odyssey, you would already know that the old Gods are actually Isu.
Valhalla made me really confused. I really despise Basin, and now what we are to see basin = Loki in Bagdad? Makes zero Sense. Not to mention that there is no guide in the right direction to the story, and now I have basim doing anomalies. I can't like him since he is Loki and my hero is Eivör, that's who we are connected with. Really confused.
Basim is Loki reincarnated through the sage program that he snuck into. Eivor is the sage of Odin and thats why Basim/Loki was trying to kill him for revenge of his son (The whole son thing is explained in the Asgaurd missions)
Holy crap now I understand everything, with your help my friend, the clip of the gods is ragnarok, odin and everyone where trying to pass their DNA to humans, so thats why they reincarnated as eivor and loki as basim, thats why so many references in the game where explicitly highlighting the idea of reincarnating, so thats why loki as basim complains about their kids to eivor at the end because they are the reincarnated of the gods
He also has a daughter, Hel. I’m curious as to why they didn’t mention Jörmungandr and Hel in the game because Jörmungandr plays a role in Ragnarok and Hel is the ruler of Niflheim. I want to know what happened to them. Did Odin killed them as well before Fenrir?
@@mirandagoldstine8548 in mythology Fenrir swallows Odin and is then killed by Odins son Vidarr. Jormungandr the world serpent is killed my Thor. Basim wasn't hooked up to that ISU machine for thousands and thousands of years. Eivor hooked him up to it in the 9th century. So that's for around 1200 years or so.
3:27 its not thousands and thousands of years Basim being stuck with the first civilization machine. The story takes place in 7th century so if the present day takes place in 21st century its basically 1400 yrs, roughly.

Man, you're a genius! How could I never thought about them becoming Adam and Eve before? I think you might be just right brother. If you remember, subject 16 told Desmond to find Eve, why only Eve? Damn, that got me thinking now...
Ubisoft still has to explain how Eivor ended up being buried in Vinland (North America) after all the events that occurred. Obviously they lived their life before dying in NA for a chunk of time.
I think the DLC of this game will explain who the isu version and who the viking real-life version of fenrir is, cause in the mythology fenrir was the wolf that was gonna kill odin (and therefor eivor). Now i believe that eivors death and how he came to rest in vinland by being killed by fenrir (maybe a sage or a isu-human hybrid) will happen and thats what basim is searching for, thats why he need eivors memories. He will use eivors memories of his son fenrir to find him in that era, maybe see if he got hooked up to yggdrasil or something else of isu-origin and see what happened to his son. Another dlc might explain how he will get his wife out from the stagf
My theory is that the spirit of eivor actually represents fenrir aswell. I couldnt figure out who who it represents but it makes sense, and I know shes not lokis son. But the wolf kissed was responsible for Odin's death. Just like the seers foretold in asgard.
So is there indeed more story after this. I'm so lost and idk have anymore missions or at least nothing is coming up so I just been roaming and exploring.

I would have walked away from the game thinking this was one of the dumbest stories I've played through in a long time.
meeting the reader isnt a side quest IDIOT.
@@sebastienlafontaine93 Where did I say meeting the reader was a side quest?
That’s part of why I love Assassins creed. There is more to the story. Try to finish all quests. I liked Odyssey more but Valhalla answered many questions.
I wanted to take note of something, when Basim (Loki) was making the pledge that he will bring his family back he said children. I just remembered in Norse mythology his children referred to not only Fenrir but Jorganmander (World Serpent) and the goddess giant Hel.
Jormungandr should be faravid that try to poison halfdan which is Thor incarnation
As well as Sleipnir, Odin's 8-legged horse.
You can't blame Basim / Loki. Odin proved during the game AND during the metaphorical visions that he was a giant douchebag who harmed Basim / Loki family and felt no compassions even for his most trusted follower Tyr.
This game is the best, it makes u think about the origins of mankind since the 1st one and gets better and better
Basim was a thief from AC Mirage.. And became a Master Assassin..
I really hope they now actually make use of the story they set up in Valhalla and don’t just abandon it like assasins creed 3...
Honestly same.
It's taken so long to get back into the modern day story I wan't it to stay
@@kazekagejichujisoo7838 I fucking hope not
They didn't abandon it Desmond's and ezio's story was coming to an end there isn't anywhere else they could've gone with it
Mirage baby
In the next game, who knows. While reviving the Isu (which we suspect will happen listening to Basim's words), even layla and desmond can be revived. their minds are still intact, they can use the phoenix project.
Ive only played origins and Valhalla and after watching this video And reading the comment section; im so so confused
this guy needs to start playing these games.
and he needs to learn how to say ISU
Loki in the game is shown as a researcher who loves knowledge and his wife shared most of his ideals. He was okay with humans and other beings Isu believed to be inferior but Odin and other Isus hated them and this led to a clash between them. To be honest, Loki and his wife just wanted their family and still want that, he was mad at Eivor because he felt absurd at the fact that the one who did all these bad things to his family forgot about all this. His madness was valid but still, he respected Eivor.
I was so confused after basims betrayal because he sounded so much loki and i knew they were somehow connected but had no idea how.
Two things hear me out I’ve just finished the game and I’m going....
1 the reader is Desmond
2 basim is in fact Loki
Fascinating
Thanks man
It really pisses me off how this pronounces Isu. It’s not “eye-sue.” They literally say it in the game and said it multiple times during odyssey.
She is there, you can see her in the simulation but frozen
So the story of Loki, Odin etc. doesn't matter, it's really the story of the Isu, behind the Gods they take on, that's the important factor. So the question is who is Loki's children really? Other Isu, Hybrids, Humans? The Gods/People they reincarnated into, aren't important, the Isu backstory is.
@@LeonardoDaVinciLulz Yeah, I wonder how Loki is going to find his children.. I can't imagine they were allowed to be put into the life tree... I am really looking forward to see the Isu story becoming bigger and bigger.
@@LeonardoDaVinciLulz yeah im also very interested to see where they go. Im happy that the isu story is back to where it used to be. Full of mystery and intrigue.
@@Asha_Cosplay But that isn't Loki, and those aren't his "children" per se. That's an Isu and his children are other Isu I assume.
Basim is Loki. Eivor is Odin. At the end Basim is even wearing a fucking wolf shirt. His son is Fenir.
I feel like the entire story blew over your head too much to explain in a comment but there are countless other videos that go over it pretty well
Dude. This is just explaining what happened at the end of the game. I have more indepth videos and the reader, the isu, and what it means for the future of AC coming soon.
I wanna give the people who get the game at Christmas to play it before going indepth with my breakdowns
Yeah you can tell he didn't play through the entire game
@@DaStupidGoose mate... I got the game a week early... I've played through every single arc. Every single side quest and I was the first person to get up an animus anomaly. This video was a basic explan of the ending of the modern day as to not spoil it completely for everyone else.
@@BPRGaming you can see in the we comments alot people feel like there's gaps and missed info in your review I understand this might be your way of tiptoeing around spoilers but it's not coming off that way
@@BPRGaming maybe stop focusing so much time on editing your voice in the video and focus on playing the game.
Man the next assassin's Creed is gona be crazy. I hope it's in the modern day
The fact basim survived is blood boiling like how Micha bell n Dutch betrayed Arthur in Red dead redemption 2
From what I’ve read so far Basim wasn’t the bad guy? Oden was the bad guy.
Oooh lord. I am hooked back onto AC's story
You spelt modern wrong btw
@@Hatchfree Thanks for pointing that out.

Honestly, I hope William Miles is going to be our new protagonist and that Basim is going to be the antagonist
5:42 The reader is wearing glasses, he reminds me of Bill Miles or Warren Vidic but neither of them have glasses
The first thing I thought when meeting the Reader was "That's definitely Desmond!" I only thought that, because of him constantly looking through end of the world scenarios.
Bassim is Loki and wants to re-unite with his children, when he was fighting Eivor in the ISU lap, he said "for my son"
the same thing Loki said when he was fighting Odin in the Nilhaim mission
Remember In the last asguard mission when the future tellers or whoever they were showed eivor his future but they said “ this will ripple through midguard for eternity” meaning by cheating fate he opened up all these timelines. That’s what I believe we are now is all these timelines opened because eivor or “ Odin” cheated his fate
I am greek and "Aletheia" means "Truth" if that helps
The reader is Desmond He died when he actived the eye and his personality and Self where transferred to the simulation and he started to read possible ends of the world and how to save them
Did anyone else realize halfdans best man had that mark on his neck?
are we just gonna ignore the Abstergo logo on the Isu dials on the last clip?
extremely clear one at 8:29
ohh myy godddd
Well this is that happening when eivor cheated his fate it caused all these ripple affects through mid guard that’s what we are seeing now
*^ I’m the last*^
In. God I hate auto correct Jesus
Him: Sig-Ard
Everyone else: Sig-Urd
Not only is the reader Desmond. But he is literally voiced by the guy who voiced Desmond
I’ll tell you the number one thing I didn’t do in this game was read all those stupid letters.
I read them
It was pretty clear they were reincarnated. Sacrificing something so you can be remembered by the tree, and live on after death. Although I thought Loki was gonna be Sigurd, forgot about basim. And it’s pretty cool how they hinted Loki was basim
The Adam & Eve parable is on point, definitely food for thought, considering the Pieces of Eden (Apples) have been in the series since the beginning.
You forgot the hidden seen of Basim and Eivor smiling at each other over the campfire in modern day
Huh?
OK we all know that the reader is Desmond but remember that subject 16 cut scene, where is subject 16 tells Desmond to find Eve and that the key is in her DNA. And more Importantly when Juno says when cross the other side she will be waiting for you. I feel like I’m forgetting some thing or were missing parts of the puzzle here help me out guys.
You're not missing anything. Those are, as of now, just story elements that they discarded.
Crazy theory, but what if time travel somehow becomes a thing (or a simulation through the Gray) and Desmond and Layla become Adam and Eve from the Isu times
Basim kinda looks like loki
He's the reincarnation of Loki... Sigurd = tyr
Eivor= Odin
Basim has not been trapped in the grey for ‘thousands and thousands of years’, he’s been in there a little less then 1200 years
I think basim is the reincarnated loki like how eivor is odin
You can see how loki also reincarnated by the anomalies
And the son he mentioned obviously is fenrir of course
I KNOW THAT READER IS DESMOND! I HAVE ANOTHER VIDEO COMING OUT ABOUT THAT WHICH I EXPLAIN AT THE END OF THE VIDEO!!
@@BPRGaming well to be fair dude you said "a possible theory" when it's clear it's Desmond but okay
I’m excited, I just want all of these stories to actually connect, desmond, the cult of the first instrument, Layla and the reader.
Basim is Loki reincarnated through the sage program that he snuck into. Eivor is the sage of Odin and thats why Basim/Loki was trying to kill him for revenge of his son (The whole son thing is explained in the Asgaurd missions)
Now you open new idea and I change my understanding of the game lol. It’s complicated and I love AC there is too much possibility
whats the background song from the intro
Holy crap now I understand everything, with your help my friend, the clip of the gods is ragnarok, odin and everyone where trying to pass their DNA to humans, so thats why they reincarnated as eivor and loki as basim, thats why so many references in the game where explicitly highlighting the idea of reincarnating, so thats why loki as basim complains about their kids to eivor at the end because they are the reincarnated of the gods
I thought that maybe the fenrir survived and is bound somewhere. I also read that Loki in lore had another child and that it was a snake
His other child is Jorgumandr (might have spelt it wrong) which is the world serpent.
But as the sergeant falls a cloud of poison mist engulfs Thor and after just 9 steps Thor falls dead. Hel as far as I know wasn’t at Ragnarok and she lives.
i knew this would be her last game. she had a trilogy just like demond (yes i know he got 5 games but brotherhood and revelations were more like side stories and not main entries thus why they weren't numbered 3 and 4). hell her final fate is even the same as desmonds. but this time we didn't have to wait almost 10 years to find out.
The reader is Desmond, basim is loki, he tried to find his children. If not revive the isu
Imagine basims son is a secret leader that has been giving orders in the shadows for a long time.
basims son is fenrir and his other son is jormungandr and their sister Hel
Basim wasn't hooked up to that ISU machine for thousands and thousands of years. Eivor hooked him up to it in the 9th century. So that's for around 1200 years or so.
I think the reader is desmond
3:27 its not thousands and thousands of years Basim being stuck with the first civilization machine. The story takes place in 7th century so if the present day takes place in 21st century its basically 1400 yrs, roughly.
They need to make the modern day stuff more focal in the new games. We aren’t getting enough info in each single game
Literally we barely get any real world info
It’s a long shot but I think they’re going to go back in time to when Desmond died and he won’t save the world, he’ll survive the catastrophe and he’ll enter the Animus during the apocalypse and explore the memories of the next character, whoever it may be, or it could be the end 🤷🏼♂️
Loki is basim he has the same voice and he looked almost exactly the same and sigurd is Tyr they both lost there arms and Odin was the cause the great betrayal just like Eivor was the main cause for Sigurd loosing his arm by not stopping his brother u see all the reincarnates as u go and the more they show them selves the more u see them as the same people from the Asgard gameplay from ur visions and Desmond is the reader of course and I’m thinking the Jótun that Loki loved is the woman in the staff because he calls her love and already knew her sum how but I don’t know for sure cuz I don’t know how she would become one with the staff maybe it’s not her but they had to know each other before they all died and the black marks on the neck explains that secret ending you see that black mark on multiple characters necks when ur going thru the game they are probably Isu blood lines that are like Eivor and others and Eivors might be gone cuz it was bitten off by the wolf at the beginning
Bro i have a question, i finish this game but i need to the hidden truth tropy, can i get this tropy after finishing this game ?
This is my first Assassin's Creed game and I just finished this story arc this morning. I have to admit, I'm completely lost.
Thanks I couldn’t stomach Valhalla so I’m watching this before the next game
The Reader is for sure Desmond, the reason Layla turn gold, is because her body died. Basim didn't die because, his Isu genes are not as deluted.
Um, the Reader is Desmond's mind. He's voiced by Nolan North so.....
From the way he talked when he was fighting Eivor it sounds like he either thinks hes Loki or he is Loki then Eivor would be Odin.
Just like you say :)
I have played all the add ons and now just keeps on roaming the maps. Do we actually get to see what happened in Vinland with Eivor or that’s the end?
If you really want to understand the ending play the asgard arc and finish all anomalies
Man, you're a genius! How could I never thought about them becoming Adam and Eve before? I think you might be just right brother. If you remember, subject 16 told Desmond to find Eve, why only Eve? Damn, that got me thinking now...
Dont forget that basim likes squirrel watching
It really sucks that Layla's story is over .I liked her. They have simply exchanged a female character for a male one which I don't like.
@Mr. Anonymous I mean we have been following for her many years, 3 in fact.
Ubisoft still has to explain how Eivor ended up being buried in Vinland (North America) after all the events that occurred. Obviously they lived their life before dying in NA for a chunk of time.
The Adam an eve part you said, seems like it could be wow
This is little over half a year old, but I do think that by "family", its clear he means Alethia/Angrboda, Fenrir, Jormungand, and Hel.
Yh its obvious... Loki is Basim and Odin is Eivor. Will be cool to see who his children are
I think the DLC of this game will explain who the isu version and who the viking real-life version of fenrir is, cause in the mythology fenrir was the wolf that was gonna kill odin (and therefor eivor).
So basim is Loki? Because his son (fenrir) was killed and his family died so he is trying to get them(the isu) back so they can again rule the humans?
Yeah mate! Check out my 'Who Is Basim' video! ua-cam.com/video/0kAF4e6gI6w/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BPRGaming
Isn’t Loki basim?
Revenge for his son is fenrir, basim is Loki
So is there indeed more story after this. I'm so lost and idk have anymore missions or at least nothing is coming up so I just been roaming and exploring.
If you have completed all the Asgard story and missions you would know that eivor is actually a reincarnation of oden and basim is actually a reincarnation of lokie and it gets a lot deeper than that as well but it all starts 2 make sense (idk how 2 spell all the names and shi right but u pick up what I'm putting down)
The only thing that doesnt fit is, How Basim remember his old life as Loki and knows who he is and Eivor doesn't.
You need to play the Asgard Arc of the game and, after that, collect all the memory fragments left scattered around the world by Basim. That will unlock a short video in AC: Valhalla that will give you the answer to that. It's quite similar to AC 2's The Truth.
@@NANA-lt6hd I will not run arouns the map for microtransactions and lose 10hours for 5sec videos. I have seen the videos you are talking about and that doesnt explain how basim is Still loki in mind. How he joined the assassins. Why he manuoulated sigurd and all these
@@ChrisEzio Those are collectibles not micro-transactions. And, as I have said, you need to also play the Asgard Arc of the game as well. And, I mean, to also pay attention to the dialogue in that arc. But for convenience's sake, I would suggest to watch the interaction between Odin and Mimir again. It's explained how it works albeit in a more fantasy-like way since that's the way Eivor's mind could comprehend it all.
