    This drill is eureka moment. The back swing and down swing is pretty much the same! And finally! Watching over n over again this video and the hands down club head out concept, Butch Harmon/Tiger video from 2000, and watching Tiger's swing, I managed and figured out how to hit iron like Tiger's.
    I'm so happy and almost crying when I hit irons now. 140y Pw starting 45° flying balls with that same pro's club speed.
    This drill is eureka moment. Believe me.

    Moving your hips back instead of turning might have been the best tip I’ve heard in my life, and I was in the business for years and played in college as well. It’s amazing how easy it feels to get the hips “out of the way” on the downswing with this thought. Thanks Mike!

    Shot my best round yesterday, thanks to videos like this. The difference with this shot feel is that it is very repeatable. Whereas in the past, I felt like everything could fall apart at any point in my game. These concepts put you where you need to be. You feel free to let loose and let the club fly. Changed my game completely!

    Hi Mike
    Your instructions are great I have played golf for 50 years no one has explained to me how the hips work in the swing.
    I played yesterday I was working the hips the way you instruct with great results but on the back nine I struggled to get the
    It right.
    Keep the good work up.

    Watched a few of your videos tonight and you have been the best at describing my major swing flaws. Thank you as you have described how to fix them the best I’ve seen from anyone. I’ve been rotating my hands open, then crossing the line at the top and that causes me to come over the top on the downswing. Finally figured out why watching your videos. Now I’ve got some work to do as I’ve got years of bad muscle memory built in.

    many thousands times I have tried to find out how to initiate a good coordinated backswing - lost connection - was tight - now this video gave me a clear idea - tried it today - no other word than - just perfect explanation - 5mph higher club head speed on iron 7 - dead straight - thank you - also for your other free videos - I love it

    Pure genius. 5:58-6:15 is profound. Former college athlete here, and always tell myself to "be athletic" during the swing, but like Mike says, I
    "become a robot" by becoming a slave to the positions. Just practicing this in my living room, it feels so much smoother, and powerful. Smooth acceleration.

    Brilliant. Some folks are going to benefit from less pain and more enjoyment from playing this great sport directly because of this lesson. This move will also take care of your early extension (with miles of practice of course). Thanks for posting.

    This is an excellent drill. You don't even have to hit the ball. you keep taking practice swings while walking backwards and you soon learn the timing of when the hip needs to move and then the arm to accelerate to get a natural yet very fast swing speed. Then you address the ball and imagine walking backwards when you start the backswing and you will get much better club path

    Hey Mike. Now through Cogorno i came across your channel and watched most of your videos. I play Golf since 2 years now (being in my mid 30s) and play about HCP 14 now. There is one thing i need to get out there. As a former Soccer Player, the golf swing DOES NOT COME NATURAL to me. I ve never player Baseball oder tennis or anything like that. I did not take many Golf lessons (6 Lessons with 3 different Coaches) i very quickly discovered that NO COACH (at least here in Germany) can explain to me what i have to feel! So i had to work it out my own.
    I like how you describe, how it is impossible to force differen positions during the full swing. I went through the whol process, slicing, hitting behind, chicken wing, pull hooks, "coming from the inside"
    I wished i would have watched your videos on WEIGHT SHIFTING (SHIFTING FORCE) + HIP ROTATION 2 years ago. Your Concepts totally make sense - for the first time because you dont tell me to be in certain positions rather than what the broad feeling should be. I filmed myself countless times trying to force myself to get rid of chicken wing. Amazing how you can NOT turn this thing off.
    i trained hard over the winter and 2 things helped me break through. i call it ROTATING BEHIND THE BALL and i must feel like my head moves further back in the downswing while my hips move forward - all of a sudden i stop hitting it fat and come more from the inside.
    Now i try the move in the downswing where you say to let the heel come out in front. i did not try very often, because it feels absolutely wrong and the result is - well you know, either fat slice or pull hook. there is also the doubt from knowing that most of golf community does NOT UNDERSTAND what you mean (my impresseion only). Now i trust you, but i am afraid to throw all my progress from winter away. what should i do?

  • @Valpo5203
    @Valpo5203 4 роки тому

    One really great outcome of pushing your hips back is that it forces the opposite shoulder down into the right position. When you push back your left hip on the downswing, the right shoulder must be down and in the right position without forcing it at all. Sweet.

    This drill makes all the sense in the world to me. When I swing, I feel the weight of my body on my feet and into the ground move from just behind the balls of my feet at address to the inside heel of my right foot on the backswing to the lateral heel of my left foot at impact. It’s like walking backwards without lifting my feet.

    When you hit the ball you brought your left foot back even with your right foot and your hip was closed. I like the concept. You did it with open hip when demonstrating without the ball?

  • @surfspear
    @surfspear 4 роки тому +1

    Mike in your book, I feel your pain, you talk about rotating the hips and upper body separating from lower. Also you mention that straightening the left (front) leg at impact causes early extension. Can you still say rotate, as in a barrel?, meaning no lateral slide? Is that where you’re going with this walk back drill? Also are you now saying that there isn’t separation, as now the legs can start or react to the swinging of the club earlier? Thanks because I’m a little confused.

    If you watch this you are lucky as its in the top 3 of all time golf "secrets"! I "discovered" something similar with a martial art drill only to find Greg Norman called it his Piston Drill years earlier! If you find the extended video where he slips out the"pulley" secret which ties in with this then you have the No 1 secret in golf which has taken me years to dig out of the dirt!

    Hey @Malaska Golf I've improved greatly watching and putting your videos into practice, however I've run into a snag. During your using your hips video you emphasized on how using your hips in a lateral motion is great for utilizing that lateral force in order to safely and consistently deliver power to the ball. One thing in having trouble with is getting that ball first and follow through contact in order to get the proper divot. Any resources or previous videos that you've made that i should practice in order to remedy this?

    Stand up taller, easier to make the hips rotate. Have to he stood up to do this drill. Most peoples hips are too deep at address. Great explanation. Once you become an athlete at address, the sooner you will play better golf. Watch Bobby Jones. That's an athlete, not a golfer!!

    Mike...I don't believe you've ever covered the RIGHT SHOULDER in a video. My biggest error is lowering my right shoulder too much at the beginning of the downswing or "dipping", which causes me to almost scoop the ball losing a lot of distance. Can you please address this fault in your next video? Thank you.

    Check out this video I posted ua-cam.com/video/xCx5O2609Ec/v-deo.html - I love going backwards up stairs with my golfers to do the same thing you are describing here. As the weight shifts back onto my heel the pelvis shifts back on the one side RESULTING in rotation of the pelvis. I really like how you said it allows your back to relax. Rotation of the pelvis is a combination of posterior and lateral shifting. Great drill!

    • @golfingmatt82
      @golfingmatt82 4 роки тому

      Also this video and the one prior helps work on posterior hip flexibility since the stair causes the hip to go up and back to stretch the posterior capsule. See the stretch @ ua-cam.com/video/tT_krIf5wuk/v-deo.html. Thanks Mike for your great ideas!
