I replaced mine today and it worked perfectly. It was slightly different from this but very similar. This video gave me the confidence and saved me $400 to $500. Thank you much. Subscribed

This was video an awesome. Changed out the motor in under an hour and it tests like new. All the other videos want you to pull the dishwasher out and turn it on its back. Mine install is a bit tight to get in and out so not having to remove it from the cabinet was the bomb.

I agree with Ryan. Thank you so much for posting this! I was able to go one step further and open up the motor housing to find a blocked filter. I cleaned it with vinegar and a toothbrush and it is working fine now.

Thanks for sharing this video. I wasn't prepared for the expense of replacing the motor just yet, so I removed the impeller and there was a bunch of detergent build up in there - also gave it a couple of light slams and put it all back together. I was happy to see that it worked (at least it has gone through one wash, hopefully will continue working).

This is the best video for this problem I've seen. It matched my machine (Kitchen Aide KDTE104ESS2) perfectly. If you too own one of these shitty machines that only ran for 5.5 years, this is the video for you.

Excellent video..very helpful. I had different kitchenaid but they use same/similiar parts and accessed the repair in the same way (without pulling off the door or washer). My dishwasher is only 2 years old so when it stopped working I was disappointed. I had zero experience repairing a dishwasher but a few months ago I repaired my dryer which gave me the confidence to try. Took awhile to diagnose -- I started by replacing fill valve which is common issue but that didn't solve. Then I saw that you can run diagnostic by hitting the 3 buttons a few times and the code it flashed was 4-3 (wash motor). I looked into ordering the motor or motor assembly online -- but it was $150-$230. I called an appliance repair guy who said he worked for kitchenaid for 25 years and that if you call them they may cover the cost of the part. They did -- they ended up sending just the motor and some hose clamps, not the assembly as in this video, but I figured out how to uninstall/install just the motor. Took me awhile but I'm a rookie so it is to be expected. One mistake I made was when I reinstalled the motor assembly I didn't properly reattach the drain motor so when I tested, it worked fine until the end when it drained and I had a minor flood in my kitchen. Thanks again!

Nicely done video; thank you! When I pulled the pump off the bottom housing, there was a small piece of nutshell in the impeller scroll. I connected 120V AC to the motor terminals and it did run but seemed weak. Ordered a new pump from Amazon for $109, it came the next day; dishes are currently washing. The original hose clamp had to be forced open and was not useable. The new pump came with the hose clamp; but you do need a hose clamp crimping tool to tighten it.

Thanks for the video , didn't find anything blocked. Took the motor out of the pump housing , tested with 120 , motor would spin. cleaned up the rotor housing for the magnet , as there was some brown residue in there , guessing the rotor was just stuck.

My dishwasher just broke because of the motor. Got 3 quotes ranging 460 to 750. I’m going to try it myself. Any suggestions on where I can get the parts ?

Walk in the park. :-) I have a cheap Amana which stopped washing. Water would pump into and out of the washer but the washer would not spray water as it should. So I took a chance and after I got the wash motor out I replaced the white diverter motor for $25 rather than the whole wash motor assembly. ua-cam.com/video/8PpD6umqMF4/v-deo.html I also found a disconnected wire plug on the far left side underneath. You can see it at 1:35 for a brief second. I don't know if I accidentally disconnected it or if it came off from vibration which caused the no-wash problem. Anyway, I plugged the loose wire plug in the apparent spot it was supposed to be, replaced the motor, and put everything back together and it works like new! Thanks so much for the wonderful camera work and thorough & clear instructions!

The pump I took out didn’t have a “diverter” with the red and blue wires. Or a weight. I’m about to fire it up... fingers crossed!
