      You would think that these cheap bearings would be available to purchase separately since it's a common problem. Even if it's a bad design, these things would be like $1.

      I’m thinking about buying one just like this used and the guy said it works good other than there is some detergent that is still in the detergent dispenser after it finishes it’s cycle. I thought it may be the circulation pump. What do you think??

    Great video, first and only one I have found for the Whirlpool WDT720PADM dishwasher that actually talks about the pump and taking it apart and the parts that makes it up. I am an engineer and have done bench repair of electronics to component level for a years. Sad we live in a throw away society now where seems no one wants to fix things that are not that hard to do so. For electronics it is easy there are many parts companies that will sell just about any part you want but on things like this which is actually a common pump you cannot find a common part.

    Really appreciate the video! Was having issue with my whirlpool dishwasher not "washing" but filling and draining.
    I was going to just order a circulation pump but figured I would give cleaning it a try. It was NASTY, for real. Only 2 years old. Cleaned it out, temporarily hooked it back up for a test run and BOOM I could definetly hear the blades spinning.
    Need 2 hose clamps though. The 1 you replaced and 1 for the other end that doesn't normally have a hose clamp. Must have been glued in or something but it's leaking from there. Might try a metal "zip tie" due to the tight clearance. Unsure if there is a glue that would work but ill double check.
    Thanks again for the video my man! Saved me $120 which was about the cheapest I could find a circulation pump for. Never mind the amount of money I was fixin to spend if I was just going to buy a new dishwasher.

    Just wanted to thank you for the video. I have the same model and it is only 1 1/2 years old also. I took off the pump and checked on getting a new pump, and the cheapest I could find with shipping was $100.00. I only paid $375.00 for this dishwasher new (found a deal at HD) but eventually be changing it out because I'm remodeling our kitchen. So I couldn't bring myself to buy a new pump until I tried something first. In your video you said it was just the bushing that is the problem on the pump, so I made a new bushing out of a stainless steel bolt. So far so good. I've run 3 loads through and the dishwasher hasn't worked this well in a long time! Well, hopefully it will last a while. Thanks again.

    Mine didn't need screws its held in place by forcing it into the housing. I took the piece apart and the magnet was rusty and there was food in there. I cleaned all the food out and cleaned the magnet so it was smooth again. I put in a little water proof grease around it and put it all together. I forgot how forceful the water pressure is in there. I would buy you a pitcher of beer and wings for this video. Thank you a 100 times.

    Is there a check valve? I can't seem to find one. I changed the pump, it runs and the lines are clear, yet there just isn't enough pressure to drive the water through.

    A year and a half and the pump is already shot?! Boy, things are really made to break down these days aren't they? I just swapped the bearings on my 1997 dishwasher that ended up seizing, it's running like new again. 26 years old.

    An appliance commercial came up before this one. Good timing. Wow 1 1/2 years old is NOT good. Remember when the fridge from Grandma's house was downstairs still working and upstairs 3 fridges have come and gone.

      That is very true. These new appliances have all kinds of sensors and stop working because something is not right. I used to take about an hour to wash our clothes now with the high efficiency washer it takes close to 2 hours.

    Quick question: Does this pump/morot problem cause water leakage by any chance. I have same model and I don't see any water in the front when I use the machine but by my neighbor came upstairs seeing water coming down from his ceiling. so not sure what is going on. Thank you for the video. Appreciate it.

    Door latch switch is good
    Float switch replaced
    Drain pump good
    Mother board replaced
    Fully cleaned, turbidity sensor cleaned...
    Water valve replaced
    Running out of ideas.

    If you are ever able to source a fix for the old pump to have on hand as a back that would make a good vid. 80$ once is ok, but if this goes again, a even cheaper solution could be useful.

    hi they don't make dishwashers like they used to the old ones were heavy and strong they have such a big motor on them the old ones took two hands to hold the motor that's when they were American made that dishwasher pump motor you have looks like a little bitty toy pump motor let me guess made in China or some foreign country yeah and that's what companies do you cannot buy the part you got by the whole unit I like to see a hundred percent American made or Germany or Russia or one of the big countries who know how to make good quality and stuff

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  6 років тому

    Just did the same repair on my dishwasher WDF760SAD82, it was fairly easy to get at and replace the motor, but shame on WP for making such a terrible design flaw. Planned obsolescence! C'mon WP, stop pulling this crap!

  • @benoved

    So the meaning of all this is that this pump that costs 90$ has flaw design that will require me to replace it every 1.5 year. Hmmm,Thank you Whirlpool / Frigidaire I will never buy your appliances again.

    Easier yet, just replace motor by twisting it off/on. Wish I could buy just the motor without the rest of the housing, similar to the drain pump motor. If anyone knows where to get JUST THE MOTOR, please comment.

  • @peteduncan921
    @peteduncan921 2 роки тому

    It's practically criminal to design and sell something like this. The manufacturer probably saved less than a dollar by using those crappy bushings, when good Delrin or bronze bushings would last for many years with no problems. They also do the customer no favor by using hose clamps that require special tools to install.
