Gorgeous Common Plants Tour | Kham Thiang Garden Market Chiangmai Thailand.
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 лис 2022
- After bring brainwashed by insanely rare plants in the last 3 episodes, its time to visit the common plants being grown and sold at the Kham Thiang plant market in Chiangmai. This is a very laid back plant tour with lots of personal stories, care tips, and questions asked. I chanced upon the best looking begonia collection in my life, and visited lots of common but gorgeous houseplants as well as landscaping plants. From this tour, we can also see the plant trends emerging from Thailand! This is actually one of my favorite episodes filmed this year as I share some personal updates, spend time with Irene and my mom in the first portion of the video, and engage with some gorgeous plants grown with passion (that I can actually afford).

These videos from Thailand have been so much fun to watch. I keep rewatching them! Every time I see something new 🤗🌱
Haha thank you. I noticed new things when Im editing too
Hi Sean, I really enjoy your videos. Keep doing what you're doing. I live in Canada and love to see what plant life is like in other countries especially Thailand. What amazing plants they have. We need more plants and less drama in life:)
Enjoyed the video!
Thank youu. And yes more plants and less drama! 😀🙏🏽
35:07 - Snow-N-Summer Jasmine
36:01 - Mandevilla aka Rocktrumpet
39:05 - Croton petra variety
40:09 - Lisianthus
56:35 - Cyclamen
Thank you for the wonderful tour of the plant local market.
As for the viewership going down, there could be multiple reasons for it. Try to evaluate which country viewership is significantly impacted. Reasons could be due to covid restrictions going away and hence, people are socializing, going out and traveling, instead of staying in. There is also Football worldcup going on and the viewership might be impacted due to it. It impacts the cinema attendance in the Europe significantly. One last reason I could think, is the length of the videos, long videos might be deterrent for some, due to commitment required by the viewer, so they are probably skipping it.
As for what to discuss on your channel, it depends on what is your goal from this channel, to increase the viewership, then probably cater to what they like and dislike. If you have a personal channel, you can definitely discuss the issues which matter to you there. As for my suggestion, you do what make sense to you. I do not mind and actually enjoy all your videos.
As for what is better, master of one, or jack of all trades, I will take the latter over the former any day. Life will be monotonous otherwise.
Hope you and your mom are recovering nicely. Hope you had a wonderful trip back home.
Thank you so much for the IDs and for taking the time to share your thoughts on the channel 🥰 That is so very kind
@@onlyplants hii Sean... 36:01 is actually Allamanda. Allamanda genus have lots of colors. Dark red one rare.
36:01 - I own a sweet-smelling mandevilla that I can see hanging outside from my bed. 😍
.
@@onlyplants i can tell that here in England cyclamens (56:35) are quite a common winter flowering plant here flowering in peoples gardens. They dont seem to mind the cold temperatures, but it is also very interesting seeing them in the video half way across the world thriving in hot humid environments aswell.
I love your channel. You’re doing an awesome job bringing us with you around the world to show us new plants. I’m a Chef by trade but I have a room by my restaurant exclusively for my plant collections. The first thing I do when I wake is to watch your channel then I go tend my plants. Cheers to you!❤❤❤
🥰🥰 thank you for the support
I Love you and Irene’s energy together! Y’all are just too cute. 🫶

Shawn, I L O V E your channel! I live in Canada and I am also a houseplant enthusiast to say the least. Plants are like oxygen to me. (not really but you know what I mean) I am currently away from home for an extended period of time and I am seriously missing my jungle. Your channel is helping to fill that void. I have a friend in Chiang Mai and I cannot wait to come visit her. I really LOVE your content this last couple weeks especially. Loved the trade show videos. So many times I am thinking something while watching and then you say or address the same thing I am thinking. I do not know why your views are down but I am here and so grateful for you and your channel.
Thank you so much Tish. I highly recommend Chiang Mai, that city is magic!
@@onlyplants yes Chiang Mai is very special for me. I want to go back again someday
I so enjoyed watching this video! You checked out each and every plant. Some concentrate only on a favourite variety of theirs!😊
Haha I had many burning questions on plants I dont know it helps to film them and watch the comment section for tips!
I think the interest in indoor plants are waning, especially from those who got into them during the pandemic. However I've been into plants for the last 25 years and I don't think that's going to change in the next 25 years. I love your content because you are one of the rare few plant tubers who focus on plants other than the usual mix of "rare" philodendrons, antheriums and hoyas, which I really appreciate (I'm looking forward to one day seeing a video on tassel ferns *hint* *hint*) Your enthusiasm for everything that interests you and your delivery/how you communicate is extremely engaging so keep doing you whether it's plants or politics, it is your channel.
Thank you 😀🙏🏽
Man , I’m tired , I need to go to bed , but I look forward for more video with Irene ❤ it’s just a good feeling to have my two main plant person on the same screen 😂…. Good night people

The begonias are spectacular ! My paternal grandmother had numerous plants. Unfortunately both she and they are long gone. Wish I still had some of her begonia plants.
😀😀
Though the plant trend may be coming to an end there will always be some of us so hang in there however you can. You would be sorely missed.
Im not going anywhere 😀 there is a big shift in the market and its an interesting time now
The Begonia at 13:00 is Begonia burkillii, a species native to India.
The Begonia at 13:52 is B. heracleifolia.
The plant at 21:22 is Alocasia cucullata, not an Anthurium.
The tall plant at 22:05 is Heptapleurum schizophyllum, previously Schefflera schizophylla.
The fern at 23:17 is Brainea insignis.
The Tillandsia on top of T. usneaoides at 27:31 is Tillandsia ionantha.
The plant at 31:10 with silver leaves, is Murdannia loriformis 'Bright Star'.
The flowering plant at 36:02 seems like Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee'
The seed that is used to mount the Tillandsia at 38:29 are not coconut husk, but the dried up fruit of pong pong tree.
The variegated plant at 39:09 is Jatropha integerrima 'Variegated'. It will get way taller than that, but slowly.
The plant at 39:36 is Osmoxylon lineare.
The flowering plants at 40:13 aren't roses, but Lisianthus.
The plants at 56:45 are Cyclamens, not African Violets.
The plants at 59:45 are Dieffenbachia 'Wilson's Delight'.
Much needed plant ID’s! Thank you so much.

Really glad I found your channel. Love to see all this tropical plants . Thanks
Thank you ❤️❤️
Thank you for all the wonderful videos you bring to us.
Thank you 🥰🥰
Hey Sean! I love your videos! I wonder if people were watching your propagating videos more and since you’ve been doing more tour-related things lately, views have been down? I still watch your nursery tour videos, but you propagation videos are definitely my favorite!
Hello I have stopped propagating completely in the last 5-6 months because of the house move. Propagations cannot be tracked and cared for during the move. In fact even The mother plants have died in large numbers and I am now busy salvaging and rescuing my plants. But propagation will be back in the program sometime next year. 😀
Hi! Im from the Philippines...im always following what you vlog im a Plants lover...🙏
Thank youu ❤️❤️

Hi Sean. Thanks for taking us on your plant care and window shopping journeys. I love your content as it is, and I like the insights you provide. It's nice to learn from someone whose climate and culture are similar to mine. I live in Lagos, Nigeria.

😀😀 yes very
Amazing tour of plant market . Thank you so much. Now its in my to do list 😊. They are my weakness. I wish I could join you for sometime. I am from India Gujarat ..Shawn god bless you .
Thank you, bless you too
I really appreciate you showing us all these different plant shows and plant markets. It is you who is taking so much efforts and time and I am sure it is exhausting work. Like someone else mentioned in the comments don’t worry viewership. I think people are traveling more these days to make up for the time lost in pandemic. People are just doing other things they missed doing for two/ three years but they will come back and some die hard fans are still watching 😄😄😄
Thank you 🥰🙏🏽
Very cool. I love your coverage and live commentary. You are too good at what you are doing.
Thank you 🥰🥰
I have to say the markets are my jam if you could more , I love to see Crafts
😀😀
I love watching your videos. Please keep doing what you’re doing ❤
Thank you ❤️
I've been enjoying your videos. I'm fairly new but have watched a few. I'm a huge fan of terra cotta pots also. Particularly for my succulents, cactus and desert roses. I believe it allows the soil to breathe better.
Yes terracotta pots are excellent for overwaterers too 😀
The pink and mauve flowers that you thought might be African violets but weren't are Cyclamens. They grow wild in Greece. In the US they are bred in hot houses and sold in the winter, the kind of flowering plants that are bought to give as gifts and can't survive long inside a house. I haven't seen any in a long time but my mother used to buy them in the 60s and 70s.
The tiny amount of politics you inject is perfect. I wish you would continue. We never hear much about what happens in Asia in our media. Only very occasionally do you even come across official pronouncements and they are usually from the Chinese government.
I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! No wonder I cannot find the Cyclamens here in Indonesia
YAY YOU Were there! Cant wait!
Yessss haha. Its so good. Better than chatuchak maybe cuz its every day rather than 3 days a week
@@onlyplants U know its Goooood when even Thais / locals fave abt it
Hi Sean! I am in New Jersey, USA, but we have some impatiens here that look very similar. They will take a little sun, but they are very thirsty. The plants will wilt readily when thirsty. But after a few wiltings, the plants won't want to come back . You would probably have to water them twice daily.
Whoaa thanks for the share. I used to have one that died but they used to droop a lot so you are right about it needing twice a day watering!
He's in the tropics. God has it covered with rain, Sue. 😇
I live In British Columbia Canda. In the summer I put mine out on the deck and bring in for the winter. Has gotten quite large now.
Omg Sean, please send some of these beautiful flowers to Jamaica!!!😆😆😆
Just got unto your videos and love them.
Keep it up.
Thank you 🥰🥰
Hi from Canada! So fun! I feel like I was there with you. The plant under the wind chimes is named cyclamen.
Thank youu. That plant is impossible to find here 🥲
Stunning flowers you have there Sean.
🥰🥰
I really enjoy your video.
Thank you for letting me know that is very kind 🥰
1:04:56 I think these are double flowering begonias. They are popular in the USA. They are tender, bloom in late spring or summer and then go dormant and are stored until next year.
Your botanical knowledge is amazing ❤️❤️ thank you for sharing this
Lots to Learn from you about plants. Great work 🥰🥰🥰🥰.
Thank youu
Wow, I love the cactus and succulent plants. The plants you are showing are plant I am used to seeing, but nevertheless I love all the plants you have shown on your channel, keep up the good work I enjoy your channel.
Thank youi
We in Canada just have impatience for yhe summer for the abundance of flowers.
Yeahhh
I miss Chiang Mai, but at least now living in Southwest Florida, I can grow some of the same plants in my garden. Love the crotons, dracena, and bromeliads.
Thank you, I miss FL too, I used to live in Orlando.
I enjoy watching your channel Sean, i loves flowering plants, fall in love with gardening becos of the flowering plants but now i into aroid too haha. Actually i found your channel when i was crazy about aroid thats was almost 2 years ago, you shared allot of useful tips for aroid beginner which was very helpful to me. You asked what we love to see in your channel, for me i i want to see a visit at private garden landed property or apartment or botanical garden. I hoard lots of plants during mco and right now i wish to make my own tropical garden. Love to see how others did their garden. Keep up the great work.
Wow that is excellent feedback! Thank you
Learned so much from your video as always Sean ..👍
😀😀🙏🏽 thank youu
39:30 osmoxylon lineare, very popular landscaping plant in Malaysia, sun tolerant, can grow into nice bushes
I love you be you .I also like seeing your daily life and love shopping and craft and pot shopping . So I don’t understand the loss of views
Thank youu
I'm completely smitten by your videos and the positive energy and good vibes you put ut in the world! I'm living in Scandinavia, Sweden in the north and cold climate. So nice to see and recognise all the plants we have here in the stores and markets. Those "roses" you showed are not actually roses, but their flowers are much alike. So these are different type of EUSTOMA or Lisianthus as Mark here below already said., that you have seen there. They are sold and used here in Europe for flower arrangements and bouquets. Actual roses have woody stems and thorns. So they are very different. Roses are also easily grown outside in very cold climates. At least many of them very hardy
Thank you for sharing all the joy you experience! Seeing forward to hear your musical talents :)
Thank you so much Kattie. Stay warm this winter!
Que belleza de plantas amigo
hello Sean can you cover about different kinds of cactus, succulents, cute hanging plants and how to care for them thank you so much and more updates of your plants too...looking forward to more
Wooh cactus and succulents are not my forte. I dont have the conditions or watering habits for them yet. But ill be doing a few hanging plants episodes soon!
