Moral: You don't have to fight to BE a man, but there are times you have to fight when you ARE a man.
True, but EVERY man should at least have a couple good scraps to know what they're made of.
@@Erica-os2mp I had more than a couple
No thats toxic masculinity - thats wrong to be a man.. you need to dust feather be a fucking panzy.. until they need us.
the Message is very wise... "Never confuse a kind Nature for weakness".
Every time Kenny gets to the line “you could’ve heard a pin drop,” I lose it and I’m not even sure why. It just gets me fired up every time. Another great reaction to another great song!
Yeah, Tommy was the kind of person who is, "You do what you want to me, but don't touch the ones I love."
Theres a line...where good men become,...dangerous men!
Great Reaction......
Kenny turned this and "The Gambler" into made for TV Movies....... "The Gambler" Movie created either 2 or 3 sequels all starring Kenny.......
Moral... A good man is a dangerous man, simply because he's trying to be good... Never know what he's capable of until he loses it.. 😅
When he says "but folks just called him Yella' " it refers to the fact that they thought he wasn't brave. Derived from "yellow-bellied" which means to be cowardly. I know you love a story and Kenny never fails to paint one. Enjoyed this reaction along with all the others!
This song always makes me cry...
Kenny was truly one of our greatest storytellers. You would love Daytime Friends (about a woman having an affair with her husband’s best friend) and Ruby Don’t Take Your Love To Town (about a paralyzed vet whose wife is out whoring around), both songs with really memorable tunes. I also recommend his duet with Dolly Parton (his favorite duet partner and true friend) Islands In The Stream, also covered very successfully by The Bee Gees.
Bee Gee's may have recorded it at one time, but Bee Gee's (Barry Gibb) actually wrote Island's in the Stream for Kenny to record.
second daytime friends it's a great song.
Yes, Kenny and Dolly were great friends but I don't think she was his favorite singing partner. There is a video where Dolly was being honored or something like that and Kenny was there. Since he was right there next to her, he pretty much HAD to say she was his favorite but you can see him hesitate before saying it. I remember at least 2 occasions where he said he liked singing with Dotty West the best and Dottie West wasn't even there when he said it. PS Kenny actually guest hosted The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Omgoodness, he looked so shy and nervous. He had Dottie West as a guest so I think they were great friends and wouldn't be surprised if they had a fling. He just really seemed to be attracted to her and really like her a lot.
The song wasn't covered by the Bee Gee's, it's THEIR song, they wrote it...
@@ConansHair1972
It is true that The Bee Gees wrote the song for Kenny to record, which he did with Dolly Parton in 1983. Then, fifteen years later in 1998 The Bee Gees recorded and released it. A cover generally refers to a new release of a previously recorded song, so a song released fifteen years after the original version could, in a sense, be considered a cover even though they wrote but never previously recorded it.
This song always brought tears to my eyes.
Please, let’s always remember that Kenny Rogers did not write the words or the music, although his performance of this song is outstanding. Most of the time, the composes and writers get completely forgotten in the praise for any song.
Have you not heard the Gambler yet? That was a huge country hit for him and another absolutely great story song with a great message. I remember buying the single to both that and this one in high school and playing them a lot.
Love this song since it came out late 60’s early 70’s
I love this so much ... and Ty Brit for exploring with us ^_^ .. brilliantly done
A great song with a story is a boy named Sue by Jonny cash
Kenny used the name Gaitlan (not sure od spelling) because of the Gaitlan Brothers Band, a country group he liked.
One of his greatest hits! Love that you’re taking a stroll with Kenny!
heard this song on the radio, got up, ran to the record store in the plaza behind our house, bought the record for under a buck new and played it over n over.
Tommy's Dad did say " walk away from trouble WHEN you can". And Tommy did. But those creeps needed to be dealt with. Kenny sang blues country and rock. Check out Conway Twitty. Hello Darlin', Goodbye Time or any duets with Loretta Lynn.
One of the greatest storytelling singers of all time. And this song is one of the best.
Another story song by Kenny is "You Picked A Fine Time to Leave Me, Lucille". Also from his early days with the group the First Edition, "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town".
Great song
Also, check out Kenny Rogers and the first edition I just checked in to see what kind of condition my condition was it I seen him do it interview he said Jimmy Hendrix came to watch him play and Jimmy approached him and told him that was his favorite song let me know. I’d love to check it out with you the reaction that is.💯
Kenny Rogers actually did a movie based on this song. It was a made for tv movie. I think you’ll like it.
If you end up doing movie reactions, there’s also a movie Coward of the County starring Kenny Rogers be pretty cool to watch you react😎
IDK Nick, just MY opinion...I thought the movie was boring.
The studio version of this is awesome
Love your reactions Britt ! Try Kenny's The Greatest....cutest story....guaranty
Britt: "Yellah." Frontier days, common parlance for cowardice was "he's yellow-bellied" or "he's yellow."
They actually made a movie for TV of this song.
Kenny Rogers has a gem of a song called 20 Years Ago. It's another side if his talent. Please check it out.
One of the best story telling artists in the industry!!
The Gambler
The Greatest
Throughout the years
Lady
Lucille
Just to name a few of his must listen to songs!!
Ever since we were little kids, we loved having someone tell us a story. Now, as adults we still love hearing a story especially when it's put to music.
It's amazing to me, that at 71 years old, the little boy I used to be is still inside. And he says that he still loves stories!
"You could have heard a pin drop when Tommy stopped and locked the door." One of the great "An Ass-Whooping is About To Ensue" lines in music.
movie of this song. AWESOMR
A moonless night, the sea in a storm, and the Fury of a gentle man, 3 things all wise men fear.
I remember seeing a movie based on this song, I knew the song before seeing the movie & it stayed true to Kenny Rogers song
There is a 1981 film by this title starring Kenny Roders that follows this song
Kenny was truly a great American troubadour. A bard. A storyteller of the highest caliber.
The movie is pretty good too, which Kenny plays Tommy's Uncle in the movie as well.
Always loved this song as I have a brother named tommy and his wife’s name is becky
They made this (and "The Gambler") into Full length Movies with Kenny!
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Another great song by Kenny Rogers Is
🎵Sweet music man🎵
The original audio version 👍
I am sure you gonna love this one too
Keep the good work Sunshine 🌞
Kenny Rogers stars in a movie based on this song. Its named Coward of the County
Long Arm of the Law, Lucille, and Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town
That man could sing the phone book and make it entertaining
Great song!! On the radio all the time back in the day lol!
There is a movie with Kenny Rogers “Coward of the county”. It’s excellent
There was a movie starring Kenny based on this song.
I love your reaction to this song thank you #BrittReacts
Another movie to watch
They didn't consider him a coward after he beat those 3 boys
Great song and good point too.
Britt, you’re real. I appreciate your perspective. Your natural hairstyle is beautiful!
NEVER cross a peaceful hart, and mistake it for weakness.
I love this song
Kenny started out in jazz there is movie by same name staring Kenny Rodgers
Gotta love country .. and Kenny was a great story teller.. Have you done. Lucille ?
He made a movie based on this song. He also made3 movies based on "The Gambler"
just wanted to say, I found this page and its great.. keep up the great work.
Great Reaction Britt. Kenny is definitely a great story teller. Take a listen to his song Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town.
I like the movie from this song as well
I thought I had already commented on this one, but apparently not. Tough song to listen to, but at least a song that presents a view as opposed to obfuscating it. Peace, Love!!
SUGGESTION: When I'm gone (music video) by joey and Rory. BACKSTORY: This song was written to cope with a loved one dying and joey and Rory wanted to include it on their album. When I'm gone was released in 2012, not knowing that 2 years later she would give birth to a beautiful child who has down syndrome & a few months later getting diagnosed with cancer and then die from it in 2016. She was beautiful on the inside and on the outside. She had a beautiful heart and a beautiful voice. May she R.I.P.
There was a movie of this and Kenny played the uncle
Great song!
They made a movie about this song and Kenny stars in it. It has the same name as the song
RIP Kenny Rogers! One of the most iconic voices ever! BTW you're beautiful!
Loved your reactions throughout the video.
Its called a BALLAD
Folks just called him yellow.
Key phrase, "If you can".
Before Kenny Rogers went solo, back in the late '60s he was part of a group called the First Edition. If you want to hear his most soulful performance, check out the First Edition's rendition of "Somethin's Burnin." Goosebumps.
You are so cool! I love your reactions.
You really need to react to the first edition Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in. Just subscribed. Saw Kenny in Va. Great show.
Good song good reaction
They made a movie about this, too
Kenny Rogers "Ruby"
It wasn't cut off by UA-cam, that's how the song ends.
And 100% True you turn the other Cheek when you But Sometimes you don't have Choice
there is a movie by the same name ,the story has kenny rogers playing tommy's uncle. worth watching.
Love your reaction to these great "story songs".
Kenny could knock it out of the park whatever genre he was using at the moment.
You might like "psychedelic Kenny" when he was with THE FIRST EDITION and a song called...
Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)
One of my all-time favorite songs.
rip kenny
He stopped and locked the door …HELL yeah.
One of my Favorite Songs to Sing at Karaoke.
Got to watch the movie coward of the county with him
His song "The Greatest" is my favorite song about perspective ever.
Yeller is what they called cowards
On side not The Gatlin boys are really the Gatlin Brothers ( country band) that Kenny was friends with
COUNTRY MUSIC HAS BEEN DEFINED AS “THREE CHORDS AND THE TRUTH.”
One of my favorite songs when I was a kid.
Its a great song. But they also made a movie. I sat on the couch with my dad and watched this when I was a young boy. From that day I wanted to find my "Becky", beat up the bad guys and rescue her. I wanted to be a hero.
I always have loved this song!!! There's a story about a music trio named 'The Gatlin Brothers', when they met with Kenny Rogers and Larry Gatlin asked Kenny why he didn't find another name for the group that beat up 'Becky'!!! They all had a good laugh!!!
A story song so good they made a movue of it in the 80s Well Done at that
Just imagine Kenny Rogers as a southern Preacher
Kenny always tells a story as do many country singers!
You would like Kenny's song planet Texas
It is a good moral. It takes a lot of strength to hold back. But don't mistake silence or passiveness with weakness.
Will always love that song. Never fails to evoke an emotional response.
I just watched your reaction to power to the counting the movie was even better
It should be a felony to be that beautiful
I've said basically the same thing. Sadly for us she's married and good for her very happy.
