I remember a soldier telling he was in a battle and how he jumped into a ditch full of water , soaking his clothes . It was very cold and he soon started shaking with the cold.
He knew he had to change clothes but the only dry clothes were ones of his dead friend lying nearby.
He had to strip the dead guy and put his dry clothes on to save his own life.
He survived the war but the mental scars are still with him to this day.

I was waiting at the bus stop a few months ago, sitting on the bench. I saw an old woman coming towards me, so I thought to myself, "time to do my good deed for the day." I stood up knowingly, and stepped aside so she could sit down.
    She walked right past me.

Caught hypothermia about 3 years ago, was in the mountains around wintertime, we slept in tents and I woke up in the middle of the night to my body twitching uncontrollably and feeling freezing and numb down to my bones. I started screaming for help and then they gave me coats and I warmed up

What the video forgot to mention is that it's not because your brains not working properly that makes you want to strip naked.
After shivering for so long your muscles become exhausted and relax, including your veins. Your veins suddenly come close to the surface of your skin again where it is adjusted to the cold and that makes you feel like you're overheating despite bring cold. This feeling is what makes victims want to strip naked in an attempt to cool off. Your brain not working properly is what makes you think getting naked in freezing weather is a good idea.

Went into shock and hypothermia after a bad crash, I remembering being so cold and scared I couldn't move I kept trying to make myself move but I couldn't move a thing. I think the temperature was in the negatives when I crashed and I laid in that mangled car for at least three hours I don't know when the hypothermia hit. But I couldn't stay awake and just sat there screaming for help and sobbing trying to get up. I am very thankful for the help I got from a lady who heard my screaming and helped the EMS and firefighters find me, I remember them cutting all my cloths off as soon as they got me out of the car because I couldn't stay awake and couldn't communicate to them

After watching Titanic, I was curious to see how I would be if I was in that temperature of water (-28 degrees F), so I did something sorta like the ice bath challenge, measuring out how cold it was by how much ice I put in, and it finally got to that temperature. I put on roughly the same amount of clothing Jack had on, and put my hand in. I didn't last a second...

I had mild hypothermia while cycling in the Andes. Was a beautiful day and I cycled up to 3000mtrs. Things changed rapidly and I was very underdressed. -4. I never suffered as much trying to get back down to 500mtrs in my life. I had to hold on the brakes and spin my legs as fast as I could to keep heat in them. And could only go slow because of the wind chill which made it worse. It was a battle.. I ended up in hospital and was very lucky. I've had hypothermia because I went out to play in the snow with wet hair. I was shivering for a while while my parents were keepimg me warm in various ways. I don't think it was anything severe but it wasn't damn enjoyable let me tell you that. Your whole body is shivering and you can't stop it, your muscles contract so they start to ache and hurt a little. Your jaw also shivers and hits your teeth constantly and you can't do anything to stop it.

@@loc9588Not at all true. Hypothermia is any time your body drops below a healthy temperature range, and it can be mild, moderate, or severe. What the poster described are classic symptoms of mild hypothermia. Take a wilderness first aid course, it's very helpful for knowing what to do. And mild hypothermia is itself not very dangerous BUT if you're still in the situation that got you cold in the first place you need to get warm otherwise the mild hypothermia will eventually continue to get worse.

Hypothermia is the worst. I experienced it back in 2020 when my car got stuck in snow 1 mile away from the house. I walked back home and that was the biggest mistake of my life. We had -50F windchills and even the though I had jacket on and shows my layering was not proper. I felt cold for days, my heart had weird rhythm, and when the paramedics arrived and gave me heated blankets to it seemed to make no difference, by the time I got home I was so confused that I couldn’t stand up or remember the code to open my garage. Thankfully my wife saw me on the nest cam and rushed outside. I am truly lucky to be alive after this. Take the winter serious, be prepared well and for the worst. Hypothermia can kill you so fast you won’t even know what happened.

Though I wrapped up in lots of warm clothes, drank a warm drink I shook and shivered uncontrollably for about 2 hours. A tip for wild swimming with only trunks or for the ladies costume- don't stay in for more than about 20 minutes and immerse yourself very slowly.

It was a pretty fascinating sensation riding my bicycle for several hours in the middle of a cold night with limited protection. Everything slowed down. I didn't feel cold per-say. Energy was reduced. Mental capacity diminished. I felt like I wanted to just stop and sit down. I felt like if I had done that, then I might not have survived the night. You should try it sometime.

I was riding a bike in 2 Celsius for 30 minutes without gloves and my knees where exposed too . I stopped to drop my friend off and when I got off I lost my balance and fell and was unconscious for a minute , but then I got up like it was nothing , my hands were warmer . I think it was hypothermia , but I am not sure. I got home by taxi , I was really scared .

I love the cold. I run pretty hot and get overheated super easy, so I’m cool with lower temps and also I just,, love being cold? Like when my fingers and toes start to hurt a little and I can feel shivers coming is like one of my favorite feelings it’s so comforting idk why. I live in Maine and I always leave the window open at night so my room is really cold cause I sleep hot and I love being all comfy in my bed with my fingers & toes cold

    • @vvelvettearss
      @vvelvettearss 2 роки тому +2

I kinda agree . I love the cold too it revitalises and energised you it can feel so exhilarating . and cold baths too !
But when you sleep cold your body has no chance of maintaining it's core temp and you're fked. I struggled a LOT with that this winter to the point i felt sick and couldn't breathe and was forced to buy a whole new winter wardrobe, feather duvet and a heater. I notice you said sleep warm .
I think the key is not being in it for too long . Things in moderation especially the cold!

My body: if it did lose the fuel source for heart power and heat, power usage for heat can go beyond the limit; 1,000,000 mWh and massive demands for power and heat are expected. After an hour, Massive power outages spread across the entire body. Body temperatures drop by several degrees. My organs and other parts of my body start to shut down due to frigid temperatures inside the body. 5 hrs in, temps are now 64.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Immune plant centers encounter severe failure to provide any clean blood cells. 1 day in, temps are now 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Ice can accumulate around arms, legs, and even head. 2 days in, temps are now 23 degrees Fahrenheit. Blood can freeze into ice blocks. And here it comes, Death

Id imagine that if I dident have a big dry blanket and a warm house to scoot to right away im sure it wouldent take long to get hypothermia. If your standing outside naked, how long and at what tempature would it be for you to get hypothermia ?

I remember that i was walking home after drinking, when a block away from my home it happen suddenly if felt walk i was walking in quicksand with cement shoes. Suddenly I stopped feeling the wind chill in the air. I trudged my way home as my arms and legs started shutting down! A block away from my home and it felt like 5 miles. I barely got into my house as a collapsed in a heap near a heater register! I always wondered if i was suffering from a sudden case of hypothermia!
