A lot of work goes into making these videos, not only do you need to be highly knowledgeable in your field of expertise, but you also need to be an artist. :-)
"Highly knowledgeable" Yea, well the only skills that are actually required to produce these videos are research and artistic talent. All of this information was researched online which means that almost none of it was actually trialed or theorized/hypothesized by the video creators. It still takes skill (no worries, I am not trying to say ASAPScience is worthless) to produce these videos in a quick, informative and entertaining manner. It is just that this channel isn't "knowledgeable" in the way you're thinking of.
I have suffered hypothermia to the point of undressing, but I miraculously survived, and can actually recall the thoughts and feelings that drove me to this behavior, as well. For anyone who might want to know, unfortunately, there are few words that will actually suffice, in allowing me to describe just how torturous this state truly is. I don't think it is often acknowledged, just how absolutely miserable hypothermia really is; especially, once you reach these end stages. The best way I can describe this feeling, is comparing it to the freezing and sweating, or, "cold sweats" you would experience, while having a fever, only, with hypothermia, it is indescribably worse, and nearly unbearable. I can remember being so cold that even the slightest touch of my skin, resulted in a sharp pain, in that area. My fingers and toes were the only places on my body that I would not experience this, as it seemed that they had almost become entirely numb, at this point, and their level of functionality had significantly decreased. Despite being readily aware of this painful, overwhelming cold, though, I can remember I began to sweat profusely at this point. I was so cold and miserable, but then I began experiencing intermittent bouts of feeling flushed on the surface of my skin, which would be accompanied with profuse sweating, like I've never experienced before. This sweating was literally wetting my clothing and causing the hypothermia to only intensify, since having wet skin and clothing was causing a rapid drop, in my already-low body temperature. I just remember feeling so cold, but then because of these weird hot flashes and bouts of profuse sweating, I had to take off my clothes, not due to delirium, but rather, due to the fact that the wet clothes were making my hypothermia immeasurably worse. It was one of the most horrible, and torturous feelings I've ever endured though. My body's functions seemed so irrational, and nonsensical, like it could no longer tell if I were freezing to death, or overheating...kind of like when you touch water thats so hot, it almost feels cold for a split second. It was like my body was trying to overcompensate for the heat, and the cold, all at once, and it was honestly the most awful, uncomfortable, confusing and torturous thing that I've ever experienced. The last thing I am able to remember, was, ultimately, feeling like every muscle, and all of my internal organs were deeply aching from the cold, with nothing I could do to ease it, as my body began to shut down, yet at the same time, the waves of heat, just below the surface of my skin, and bouts of profuse sweating that corresponded, had intensified, unbearably, so I was just stuck in an agonizing, contradictory state of what felt like, both, sweating and freezing, and overheating to death, while at the same time, slowly freezing to death. It was like my mind was rational, but my body and its functions were beyond confused, and making no sense. It is the fact of bodily torture, combined with having a still-rational mind, that really made things so terrible. I wish I had become dilirious, but that wasnt the case at all! I remember thinking, "please just let me die already, and end this torture", shortly before FINALLY blacking out. I'm not sure why I'm able to even recall as much as I can, but based on this experience, I truly don't think most people, or even experts, understand just how unbearable and torturous these stages of hypothermia actually are. I am a really tough person...I have a super high pain tolerance, and I am pretty fearless, but even the memory of how bad this was, alone, causes me to cringe and curl up into the fetal position. I really don't even have words for how bad it was....it was truly just literal, sheer torture.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such a detailed description. I'm really glad that you're okay now. I'm sorry that you had to go though such an agonizing experience 😔
As a Swede who has been exposed to cold temperatures I can confirm the part about feeling hot when it's cold. You feel colder and colder until on point when you realize that the only thing you are feeling is pain, and it's the same pain you feel when something burns.
The body sends a signal to the brain based on temperature changes. But it can't tell which way the change goes. You figure it out based on context clues ("I just touched a hot stove, so I probably burned myself and that's why it hurt just now"). But humans hardly ever suffer frostbite, while we suffer small burns all the time. So extreme temperatures probably feel like heat, because we are not used to experiencing extreme cold.
That’s true.. I’ve touched an ice cube once in winter and it burned my finger.. and for a few seconds I recalled a time I actually burned my finger touching a hot saucepan.. both sensations were exactly the same

State Trooper saw his truck, stopped, got into the cab, and found my uncle in his bed, under his blankets covered up to his face. He took him to his squad car and gave him a ride. As he warmed up, my uncle's hands starting hurting. He was apparently on the brink of frostbite. Thank you, Texas State Trooper, for saving my uncle Mike!

Pro tip: If you want to build an igloo, gather 3 gigantic balls of snow from the surrounding land & roll them together. Add some snow on the top, & then splash it with water so it has a layer of hard ice. Dig inside (pointing down obviously) the igloo to form a hole of your liking, & build a small wall with the snow you dug out. This will prevent any wind from entering your igloo. I saw this in a Comment from UA-cam but the guy was pretty skilled so I trust him.

I have not left my dorm all day but I have to leave tomorrow unless my university decides to cancel classes again.
-50 gang
Minnesota✌
Right here
Wait what? Hypothermia says is below 37C(just divide with more), it is displayed '-37C' and not '
The range for normal body temperature is about from 35,5°C to 36,5°C depending on the person, time of the day etc. Otherwise the comment is spot-on.
@@Saareem I am actually curious. Are you using the Celsius system or have you read about this? You are actaully right I guess. I took count that i am a young adult so 36,6°C is the exact temp, but i searched about it and it actually says 35,.. can be normal. from experience with 35,5°C you can fell a little bit cold.
Nerds
apostolossvls yeah ... The instant i heard below 37’C i knew something was not right xd
He also mentioned 11 weeks but 11 hours was captioned when referring to the guy who was resuscitated from hypothermia
IM IN NEW YORK AND IT IS CURRENTLY 3 degress Fahrenheit with a wind chill of -20 and My birthday is tommorow so YAY lol

Meanwhile here in Australia it's just hitting 40 degrees Celsius...
we can all agree that this is a pretty cool video
people LikeMe that joke was COLD. SNOW more ice jokes!
@@andrewpereira888 let's all go have a cold one
@@andrewpereira888 dude chill out
Good thing I dont normally go outside during this chill.
Good thing you have the option to stay inside during this chill.
Good thing I dont normally go outside.
Good thing that now that reply section is gonna start with “good thing” (unless someone assumes this is reverse psychology and doesn’t start it with “good thing”
ive learned more from this channel than my 8 years at school
Watching this on the coldest day in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada) since 1907 with it being -37C without the wind chill and -52C with it this morning. Being outside hurts 😫
Really interesting! I always heard that people who tried to climb up the Mount Everest were pulling their clothes off when freezing to death and never knew why. Now I do! 😅
Could you maybe do the same thing with other types of dying, like drowning, suffocating or burning? That would be great!
My school is really stupid, one morning it was -18 degrees and they didn’t let us in for like 30 minutes. My hands where in my pockets and i was thinking “wtf I can’t feel my hands” and then I took them out and looked down and my hands where completely purple
and i thought our school is crazy
Just gonna test it in Wisconsin to make sure
*Someone from our community froze to death a couple of days ago due to the -50 weather. This is so sad. May he rest in peace.* 😭😭😭
Watching this because my uncle, who is a truck driver, nearly froze to death in the Texas panhandle after his truck broke down and his company didn't come pick him up.
So his truck broke down and his company didnt want to pick him and he decided to take a nap instead for calling help?
I'm in Guyana, almost like the safest country In the world!
No snow, no natural disasters!
I'm safe:)
Terrific Tristan just don’t drink the kool aid
Hayden DeLeonardis ow shit
Lol that's definitely not the safest country
People escaping Venezuela dont even want to go to guyana lmao its so secluded that you might die from a killer frog or some type of snake lmao its a city or 2 and rainforest! Litterally an entire park
in minnesota we have -60 windchill right now
Yeah it was -46 windchill in North Dakota this morning.
I think freezing to death is one of the worst ways to go.
Be very careful when caring for a person with hypothermia! A sudden rise in temperature for a hypothermia patient can be dangerous and cause shock and fatal irregular heartbeats.
My pe teacher made us walk outside in our gym clothes (tshirt and shorts) in below freezing weather and told us to suck it up but she was wearing a heavy coat lol
Can you guys do the opposite too? In Australia, a far more pressing issue is ridiculous heatwaves, not subzero temperatures
Yes!!!!
Why isn’t this upside down!
australia doesnt exist
@@fallenphoenix148 mate I *wish* I was an actor being paid to pretend I lived here
It was below 50° today in Chicago.
@stekii Fahrenheit.
@stekii that's also 10.00 in °Celsius
KinG$lime Akuma4 dude that's the windchill
@@chasegreen8565 yeah.
I ment 10 degrees Celsius.
Midwest here. Damn it's cold. But hey, day off. :)
I'm living in my car, as of recent. We're about to have a brutal storm. I've got one last ditch attempt to get money tomorrow, without breaking the law, and if it fails, this video has informed me that some rope will be better than freezing.
People in Canada right now be like:
Where's my F° to C° calculator

Whats hypothermia?
‘Humans don’t have fur’
Me-‘my dog does’
I'd rather freeze than burn to death
In my opinion I like this guy more than the other his voice is more soothing
somebody tell this to schools in New York so we can have more snow days
Meanwhile in the Southern Hemisphere we’re suffering in blazing hot 40 degree summers 🥵

What happens when you freeze to death?
Your soul gets stuck in a 4th July 1921 photograph.
