Still remember when I nearly choked myself out after spraying whole room with mortein to get rid of spiders I hallucinated due to sleep deprivation. Good times...
I hope everyone who is having trouble sleeping can at one point find peace in some kind of sleep. I have times when I can't sleep and it's hard to fall asleep.
me watching this at 3 A.M. at the third day without sleeping: update I've been sleeping good 8 hours now but I still wake up during P.M. ._. well it's a start
I've gone without sleep before and it wasn't that bad. Around the 20 hour mark when it had been dark out for like 6 hours I felt very sleepy, but once the sun came up and I walked around a bit I felt perfectly normal, and at 30 hours I was much more coordinated than when I'm at 0.1 bac. I did have a nice 10 hour sleep that night when usually I have trouble sleeping 8 hours.
A guy went a week without sleeping once to see what would happen. Basically the effects you described here, but the really interesting thing is what happened AFTER he stopped the experiment. He caught up on sleep and said he felt fine, but his personality was permanently damaged. Everyone around him said it was like he was a different person, and his life went to shit because of his new behaviour.
I know this is a really old comment lmao but if you remember were the auditory hillucinations making you talk to nothing because ive been up for 36 hours I cant sleep and in the morning I have to go to my cousins 5th birthday party lmao. by that point it would have been 50+ hours in and I dont want people to think im tripping hard af or anything.
It happened me twice when I was younger, more or less at 17yo, the most I stayed awake was ~56 hours I remember I skipped 2 nights but I "rested" in the bed unable to fall asleep for few hours in both of the night. It was VERY strange, because all started the 1st evening when I was experiencing a weird unmotivated euphoria and the upcoming night I just decided to skip going to bed because I felt great, I tought I would sleep on the afternoon, but nope, I wasn't tired and the next night I was instead unable to sleep but unable to concentrate too and a little anxious, also the sun was really annoying me and I felt like I had no weight, but... all the they I wasn't tired BUT at certain point of the afternoon on the 3rd day I started to see the wolrd flashing black, like if I was skipping frames and I was very worried, as I went to the bed I fell asleep. The 2nd time it happened it was just like 48hours and to be honest, since I had no fatigue or issue, I honestly hope it will happen to me again atleast once XD It's very a strange feeling because I'm not tired or sleepy at all.
"Then there's a potential for hallucination" Me, an insomniac after 2 days of no sleep: The sky is purple and trees have orange leaves. Everything is glitching. So trippy.
Omg I was awake for 41 hours straight a week ago for the 1st time. I did experience these symptoms. Especially auditory hallucinations. I kept on hearing the amoung us imposter music. The 'da da da ' sound. Micro naps happened. And i was losing grip on reality, like I was talking to a friend and thoughts like what if this was fake/me imagining it. I literally felt as if I was under the influence of something. And the paranoia my god. I finally slept after 2 days at 4am in the night only because I was scared that as I was experiencing micro hallucinatons, I would see a ghost or something and get scared. So i slept. That was really scary. 100/10 would not recommend.
I know what happens when I personally don’t get enough sleep. I had not slept for 2 days because I was working on my projects that I needed to get done for my finals. There was a lot of slurred speech, my brain was slowing down, I gained a bit more weight, and I felt anxious. Maybe that last one is from my finals but it’s not good. Never doing that again
Oh my frickin gosh. The thing about someone tapping your shoulder and someone calling out ur name. I experience that so often. And the micro sleeps. I have them everyday. I will be working with music playing in the background and sometimes I feel a little drowsy and I am suddenly woken up by like a tap on back or shoulder or by someone calling my name and I realise I have skipped the chorus of the song. This is so scary it's blowing my mind.
This is true. Some medications cause insomnia, such as the Suboxone I've taken for three years. Now I have lost all ability to express my emotions good or bad and after three years of sleeping maybe an Hour here or there I'm suffering from a total lack of motivation and inability to focus on anything.
There was a boy named Randy Garner who stayed 11 days awake non-stop to see how would he cooperate without sleep and though he's fine now, while he was doing this to his body it didn't go well for him.
honestly as someone with narcolepsy (with cataplexy and e.d.s) i forget that it takes most people days to reach some of those states when for me i get to the 72 hour mark on just about 16 hours without my vital meds
I once got to 90 hours without sleep during a Manic episode. It took haldol to get me to pass the hell out and i woke up in the er 6 hours later being checked in for a 72 hour hold
I once got extreme depression and was suicidal, lets just say i had this super bold willpower to not care for my self at all and i decided to stop sleeping all together. I made it to day 3, it was also may 3rd by then reality was completely deteriorating until I forgot what was going on and why i even was staying up. It was worse than a drug trip and I believed for some weird reason that if i sleep I would die which only made things worse. Theres some crazy hallucinations about flying away from earth and seeing the world end. But its too long of a story
I procrastinate my work and do it super late at night till morning and now i need to repay my sleep debt for a few years to make up my time being awake?
I haven't slept well because I have some big projects to do, I make a PPT and a chart, and I have homework with long answers to write. My parents force me to finish my homework even when I want to sleep, and I hate it. Sadly, people don't sleep because they have work to do.
Is it fine if I sleep late but still manage to get about 6-8 hours of sleep? I think I heard this saying that sleeping in the night time is not the same as sleeping in the daytime...

I went without a proper nights sleep once from Saturday morning, until Monday afternoon. Because someone, who I now realise is totally unreliable did not type up my dissertation, even though she had promised to do so, so i had to do it.
