Peaceful deep sleep is so replenishing. I treasure a cozy rest grateful I'm in a place in my life I'm able to get enough. Not getting enough good quality sleep is definitely detrimental to our health.
Glutathione is a redox buffer that regulates ATP production in the mitochondria. I have been using liposomal glutathione for about 20 months now. I "suck" 2 - 4ml in the morning and I find that my REM sleep is greatly improved. I used to wake at 4am and not go back to sleep, now I awaken after 7 - 8 hours of nutritious sleep, usually after an imaginative dream. I'm trying to spread the work, I want people to study this simple treatment further
The autonomic storms that happen during sleep, like the heart rate and blood pressure dramatically and randomly rising and dropping, and the fight/flight response randomly firing is the mind/brain testing the physical body much like a mechanic would do with a car while parked in a shop, testing things in the engine, pushing all the way down on the accelerator, pressing and releasing the brake, to make sure they are functioning properly. These functions are needed to be performed properly by the body during the waking state of daily life. Therefore, sleep is the time that the communication (neural connection) from brain to body is tested and re-calibrated. Also, the reason for the eyes and ear muscles remaining active and highly alert is to facilitate instant activation of hearing and seeing in the event the body needs to awaken suddenly due to a survival threat.

I think you should check out the info Dr. Stasha Gominak has put together from her sleep labs. Super interesting insight on the brain stem and it's Vitamin D and pantothenic acid B5 receptors, needed for REM SLEEP. She ties in acetylcholine's role in this as well. I would love to hear your thoughts on her words!
