I love these vids of Against the Storm. If you decided to do a series once a month or so, I'd watch every one until the full release... then I'd be playing with all the tips I've learned from you. :D

Glad to see you getting into this game. Few hotkey tips, press B to highlight all resources on the map. Makes it useful to scout out where you want to move gatherers/pick buildings or build a production hub near a bunch of them that you need. Press Alt to show all the people in the city and you can right click them out of buildings or like you do here click their portrait on the left and mass assign them. Also if you right click the trader once you're done with them it will send them away early, saves some time on getting the next one if you know you don't need it. Love the series :)
this post is going to help me move from Hard to Very Hard, much sooner thank you! Did about 5 Normal runs with no problems before trying Hard and won on my first try. Had a rough time with food and these bits of advice should help me out a lot.
For me this game manages to bring back all the nostalgia of WC3 + AoE2 along with the Legoland game lol. Loving the series and the game has surprising depth which is great for your style of explaining decisions as you play!
Got the game (early access on Epic) yesterday and it's amazing. Best city building game I've played. Imagine Dwarf Fortress had a baby with Age of Empires II. It solves the end game of this kind of game. When you feel every piece coming together from what you planned at the start/mid-game you just win. Super interesting problem solving.
The roguecity builder genre would work fantastically for a whole bunch of themes, like European east indies trade empire, Caesar and Cleopatra type settings. This is fantastic.
I really enjoyed this series! I'm not sure I want to play the game myself, but I can't wait for more of your gameplay. Your commentary is very helpful.
I had an explosion take out two humans yesterday. It also opened two more forbidden glades during the storm... and I had drawn the -10 resolve for 3 minutes debuff... this happened in the first glade I opened. I was two seconds from solving the issue as well. I still won but it made me very sad.
hey potato last i played u can leave the new arriving villagers and hold off on accepting them at the begining of each season-helps in these harder runs when your villager count drives up hostility in no time-keep em waiting! cant remember if it effects impatience i think no. thanks for getting me into this game last year!
3:00 - if you press the escape key, you will get a summary on the left side of the screen showing you what resources are available on your biome along with relative frequencies. You can compare that to what each of the camps can harvest. My point here is that this is less of a gamble that you make it out to be, but I will say that I typically will do the same thing you did - break into a glade before choosing blueprints.
Jumping into deep water of Prestige difficulties you should forget winning reputation by resolve and focus on easiest way by accumulating tools. Because food is never enough and events are too harsh.
12:17 Just a tip. Next time just produce the water (top ressource). 2 are produced in 26 sec. So with 2 rain collector you are fast enough to produce them. YOu can afterwards just delete them. The ressources are given back.
Would love to see you pick the hunter-gatherer cornerstone one day. Since resources production rounds up, the 50% increase in production shines even more when you get numerical production increasing effects.

The ale and training goods delivery line embarkation bonus is not to be underestimated, I take it pretty much every settlement unless I go without beavers, then I feel planks is better.
Hello Potato, I am enjoying this series a lot. Nonetheless, we catched up to you at lvl 12 and some of your decisions are not entirely clear to me as it has been in civ and other series. For this reason, I can't help but think that the pace of the first episodes was a little bit better for me. An example of that is that I didn't know about the different races giving you different bonuses on the hearth, as I don't own the game. Alternatively, would you mind making an "introductory" video for your next colony? that can help viewers like me get up to speed. Besides that, I am really enjoying watching you Against the Storm. Thank you for showing the game; I am looking forward to pick it up in the near future.
There´s a bit more content once you finish a map on impossible, it opens up the prestige difficulty levels and the forsaken shrine which has you sacrificing your villagers for upgraded cornerstone buffs.
To the manufactory point. You didnt "have" it really. The blueprints dont take salvageable buildings into account because you cant actually make it. Just chose to have it
One thing I've noticed you're not doing is upgrade the hearth by building the small items like water barrels or fences. Just sticking 4 of those gives a global resolve bonus per hearth. Upgrade it further and it gives more good bonuses
Game is very good. How do you earn artifacts for upgrading Capital? I find couple after big storm and map resets, and there is one cornerstone that gives artifacts.

Is the upgradable hub mechanic still in effect, where you can use decorations to increase the hub level of a hearth? I haven't seen Potato use it.
