    Dude your travel videos are the best. Good combo of info and entertainment. Very hard to find accurate depictions of culture and "feel" of a place. Too often the depiction is biased and actually negatively impacts your impression of a place. For example SF is often depicted as overrun by homelessness and techies while your series shows that it is more diverse than that. I think your videos capture more of its essence and is way closer to reality than anything else I've seen or read before. Really well done.

    Hi Peter,
    It feels so real to roam the streets of San Francisco. When I see Natalia's reactions and speed up the video, I can feel the emotions changing giving a real feeling.
    And you winked when you entered the homeless neighborhood. Ha ha.
    It is interesting to see how each neighborhood kind of curves into its own world. It is a kind of subtle cultural curvature that one one observe. Not physical, but a field of thoughts, emotions curving in, forming its own field. And one can see how it affects an individual's emotions, thought patterns, especially an alien or a foreigner going through these cultural curvature a in a short time. One hell of an experience.
    Makes me nostalgic. Left US in 2014 after 6 years and back to India.
    Thanks Bro! For the experience 👏👍!

    I really really love your Videos, especially because you have such an open and empathetic look at the world - you treat everyone with respect and you meet people with curiosity! You don´t judge and listen to the people - in the series with your wife its a bit different, thats how i perceive it. The way you spoke about fat people (in another video) and the way you were referring to the homeless people I was really surprised, almost seemed like it was their fault when we all know its way more complicated. Mental health issues, sky rocketing rents, rising living costs, drug addiction just to name a few. I really hope you don´t look down on them or blame them. Society as a community failed these people with our crazy over capitalistic structures the only promote sick hustle culture to be a better consumer. I wanted to leave that here just a perspective. Thank you for sharing your videos and all the best to you!

    Hey Peter, I love your videos. My daughter lived in SF for a number of years and I loved visiting that city. The last time I was there spent the entire day walking around and to see parts of the city change in only one year was overwhelming....homeless, open drug use, empty buildings. Thanks for the information on the POPO's. I didn't know they existed. When I go back next year, I'll try and find a few to see the beauty for myself.

      Its a Democrat owned place. Even if Trump gives them money, it wont go to the organizations that are in need. In a Democrat state/cities, corruption is the problem, and keeping propaganda where the money is spent. Pelosi is a Democrat and been in US Senate for over 30 years, but she blames everything on Trump who only in office for 4. Then they have ads telling locals to help their community, but how far can a locals go? On top of being a taxpayers, these Democrats are telling them to help the homeless, hence again its going to come from the taxpayers, never from state leaders.

    Peter, I was tickled pink when you shown the USPS mailbag at 11:19. I'm sure it was out of the 1950's. I work for them and there is equipment that predates me like chairs, safes, signs, that I work with that is older than my 42 years being alive. But I enjoy what I do as a clerk at USPS and it's given me a upper middle class living where I'm from in Nebraska. It allows me to travel the world like yourself.

    • @SirenaWF1
      @SirenaWF1 4 роки тому

      I knew a carrier who used one and he had to fight in order to keep using it as the USPS wanted all their carriers to begin carrying bags on their shoulders. He said, it's like like in the 50s where you had a small amount of mail to deliver, now it's 40lbs of mail which hurts the shoulders if carried for hours. The great thing about today is the decrease in physical mail because of electronic communications, but then that's offset by the amount of junk being sent.

      My Mother and her family are from NYC and still have family there in Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn. I live on S.F and visit family in N.Y every year. I grew up on E.77 and York AV until I was 5. S.F has different latino culture influence Mexican and Central American. N.Y has more Puerto Rican and Dominican culture very carribean vibe. S.F has oldest china town in america. Many Filipinos and Pacific Islanders and other asian communities. N.Y has big Italian and middle eastern influence. Both cities are great the people, culture and the food. Im lucky to have experienced both cities unique culture.

      @@yorkmob9993 NYC has far more asians than SF

    • @milascave2
      @milascave2 3 роки тому +1

      @@yorkmob9993 Yes, that is one big difference. New York is on the Atlantic coast, where Europeans always land first, before heading west. So it has a Strong European (and Caribean) influence.
      San Francisco, of course, is on the Pacific Ocean, so it is where Asians land first, before heading East (if they ever do.) Also, while New York is near Canada, San Francisco is not far from the Mexican border, which is why we have so many Mexican and Central American people here.
      The other difference of course is that New York is so much bigger. Like LA, every ethnic group can have their own hood, just like In San Francisco. But in those cities, the hoods spread out and are larger and take longer to get to. San Francisco is unusual in having so much diversity in a small city, which is why you can so easily walk from one hood to another. It's not as diverse as it used to be, due to gentrification, but it's still pretty diverse.

      @@randomchampion - Per capita, the Bay Area has far more Asians.

    • @randomchampion
      @randomchampion 2 роки тому

      @@Sovereign_Citizen_LEO That's only because NYC is far more diverse than the Bay Area. NYC and its metropolitan area are bigger centers of Asian cultures. It's not even close. The Asian neighborhoods you see in New York City (and even northern New Jersey) dwarf whatever you see in SF. And that's still with NYC being the juggernauts of other, non-asian cultures. NYC asian culture expands beyond East and SE asian cultures too, unlike Bay Area.

    The mail bag @ 12mins was an old 50's 60's golf bag cart, when you walked the course, I know I've used them for lots of things, like shooting archery targets, to carry extra arrows, tape to fix targets, water, etc. I'm 81 and worked at a golf course in high school.

    Thanks for the great video series! You are right about learning something even for natives. I love my city, warts and all. Nonetheless, It is still very hard to see the suffering all around but I prefer it over living in a sheltered existence.

    Overall happy vibe by your wife.
    Waiting for your videos(which are natural & amazing), when you visit countries in Africa(hopefully, my country Nigeria is first), in the future.
    These experiences are always eye opening, educative, and entertaining, especially for people like me who have never travelled(poor finances etc) but will love to(hopefully, I get my finances in shape before I get old.
    Nice job Peter.

    This is a great video ... I shared it with my friend in Italy ...
    I personally haven't seen san fran since '95 ; one of the most memorable times of my life
    when i was ' couch-serfing ' with people i met ...
    oh for about 6 months ...
    back when they had A.I.D.S protest tents set up by the business district near the Tenderloin ....
    Clearly , Homelessness is much worse now then it was then ...
    Thanks for sharing !

    Thank you for all the awesome USA footage not to mention all the details! I am from Finland and was lucky enough to visit California in 1989 before it was destroyed by the politicians. When I stepped out from the Delta terminal at LAX I had this strange feeling of finally arriving home. Been to 42 additional US states since then and to surprise many people my favorite place by far is Detroit. Loved to see the enthusiasm and curiousness of Natalia as I have a Russian fiancee myself and can't wait to show her the US. Keep up the good work!

    Detroit used to have a ton of art deco buildings, most fell into disrepair or have been demolished but thankfully many that are remaining are being restored to their original glory.
