Started using computers early on ('98), and the veryfirst thing I started to notice was that my skin looked like it aged visibly after 3 -6 months of use (around 5 hours per day, sometimes longer). My skin looked noticeably worse. More visible wrinkles (even though I have very oily skin). More uneven skin tone. Before this, I always looked younger than my age, but in a very short time, it visibly affected my skin, where a friend even commented that my skin looked unhealthy. Hmmm. I contacted several dermatologists online on forums to ask if computers emitted radiation that could affect collagen and health of the skin, like the sun. This was back in 2000. Not ONE dr. ever commented on it or answered my question.
So, thank you for addressing this possibility that I have noticed for 20 yrs. and have never seen anyone address until now.

    Very interesting topic.
My husband just when in for his annual optometrist appointment, the optometrists suggested lenses with blue-light protection as my husband spends quite a few hours in front of a computer screen. It seems so you have to do your homework, not all lenses that say they have blue light protection actually does and it took him quite a while to determine which lenses would be the most beneficial for his eyes.

Love me a good vascular anomaly. I literally almost became an ENT so that I could study them - specifically arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). My brother has had more surgeries than we can count in his life mainly using embolization and sclerotherapy to reduce its size. After years of being misdiagnosed, it was actually his dermatologist that referred him to an ENT due to finding what we thought was a birthmark but instead was a hemangioma. Check this three-minute video out if you have time by the Boston Children's Hospital - ua-cam.com/video/q8FnX78HXiU/v-deo.html - Pretty neat!

But people still fail to understand that most things overlap. Most people are in their phones constantly. Phones are harder to see outdoors so you have to move the phone even closer to your face.
Just want to thank you for stressing the need to wear sunscreen. It was not easy for me but I finally use sunscreen practically everyday even on overcast days. The texture of my skin has improved significantly. My pores are shrinking which is kind of amazing to see. It’s almost like wearing sunscreen allows the skin the time to naturally breathe and repair itself. The cheapest and yet the best skincare product money can buy.

I know Dr Dray that you are on a mission to help as many people as possible to avoid skin damage; I don't think I've come across a channel so rich in information that we as consumers of skin products as well as humans living in increasingly toxic environments need to know. Yes I use the best mineral based sun screen I can during the day but I am often on my computer after I've switched to a night time routine after swimming.. Am I going to change? No. I know the risks now but at 63 I just don't want to predecease my dog and live as full a life as I can, which includes reaching out to the community and for me some endurance sports that expose me to the elements. Because of your generosity in sharing your knowledge I can make informed choices; you deserve a Cole Porter song, :"You're the top'' you know the rest. Tx.

If you say you need 150 hours to see the effect of blue light in devices if you count it in years it actually does effect our skin, I don't think majority of us will just spend 30 minutes only everyday on our devices, we all know it’s more then that specially when we go to Instagram, Snapchat etc... the time just pass and you find yourself that you spent 3 or 4 hours even watching UA-cam videos you don't just watch 1 video, plus some of us works for hours in the computer from morning to evening, sometimes we edit videos which takes hours then chill and watch TV well I believe we still get a lot of exposure even sun worse effects it doesn't show immediately it shows with time as you age from early skin aging, dark spots etc... it's the same with the devices it comes with time

Happy Friday Dr. Dray! Thank you for all the work you do and sharing your knowledge with the world. I thouroughly enjoyed learning this topic from you and now have better understanding of blue light and product tips to protect my skin. Thank you for the education and please keep up the good work!

Thank you for making this video! I’m a medical writer, so I spend my whole day in front of a computer screen. I placed anti-blue light shields on my computer and phone screens and also use the night shift, and wear my mineral and tinted sunscreen daily, hoping that may help (am I a crazy person?). I just wonder about the long-term accumulation of low-dose blue light exposure. Hopefully more research will come out soon!

Dr. Dray, your timing of this was PERFECT! I recently saw a couple of your videos where you recommend iron oxides in a tinted cream to help with blue, visible light and hyper pigmentation. I was wondering about the blue light emitted from PC screens (I am in IT so I'm in front of computer monitors all day long). This information was very helpful.
I noticed you didn't recommend the Cetaphil Redness Reducing lotion with SPF in this video as you had in other videos. Does it not contain the 3% recommended amount?

Thanks for this list of sunscreens with iron oxide. I have been using Elta MD and the Colorscience sunscreen. Also have my Ipad in night time mode with warm light from evening until morning. Hope this will help me sleep better,. Will be sharing this with family. Hugs....Sherrry

*HELIOTRETICARE* combo is the true love of my life 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤 We met after a short affaire with isotretinoine and we inmediatly started our post-acne relationship. We are currently enjoying an antiaging vampiric honey-bloodymoon at my 46. We have only 4 legged furry kids (guess because of the isotret teratogenia 🤭) and we want to spend our lifes together. 🖤✨

Thank you so much for this video! As someone with melasma, I was really confused about what nano, non-nano meant. Avene makes tinted and non-tinted mineral sunscreens for intolerant skin but even though they have the UVA circle logo, the ingredients are nano-size so I"m not sure how much protection I'm getting. I love their compact in beige though!

I found one which is a sheer tint, non-nano zinc oxide 14%, but sadly it contains fragrance. Its called Badger Damascus Rose with Lavender & Chamomile Broad Spectrum SPF 25. I tried it and love it!

Hello! I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of these very helpful skincare videos. You’re the main reason why I’ve gotten into skincare and without you I probably wouldn’t be applying sunscreen everyday to my face lol. On the topic of sunscreen, I had a few questions about the DRMTLGY BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 45 one.. is it water/sweat proof? When it dries down, what is it’s finish? How long would you say it lasts, using everyday and replying 2-3 times throughout the day?
I have normal to slightly dry skin on my cheeks and oily on my T-Zone. I’m in search for a mineral sunscreen that won’t irritate my sensitive skin with no (or very light) white cast but won’t exaggerate the oil shine of my nose and clog pores. I know this is a lot but I’m in desperate need of help. If there are any other recommendations for different sunscreens please keep in mind that money is very tight for me so maybe things on the lower end when it comes to money. A sweatproof/waterproof sunscreen is one I’ve been searching for because I do many physical activities outdoors.
    Thank you ❤️

I got Heliocare vitamins from my Derm and I've been using them regularly. I live in AZ, so I try it all...I have olive skin that tans when it even thinks about the sun, (even through most sunscreens), but my skin seems more resistant to getting color. The melasma on my face is noticeably faded as well.
