RTD did the illustrations, not the writing. And in fact, Russell did draw Wilf, not realising he wasn't included in the poem. Unsure if that illustration made it to the printed copy.
Wilf absolutely counts. The Doctor gave his life to save him. The Doctor accepted a gun from him. Wilf knew what was happening in 'Turn Left', Wilf absolutely counts.
+Robin Hislop I'm not saying that Wilf shouldn't be a companion, as it depends on the definition of of what makes a 'companion' and different people have different ideas, but none of what you said is enough to make him companion. One of the main criteria agreed on is travelling with the Doctor and I don't believe Wilf ever did. I mean this poem had Winston Churchill in there, who is a friend not a companion, but missed out Adam who absolutely is a companion. It's a good poem but shouldn't be treated anywhere close to being accurate. :-)
and most importantly... theres you. that line gave me goosebumps and i remembered every single moment i imagine being the doctors companion or the doctor

Trev L Even if one-off companions don't count, shouldn't Dr. Grace Holloway and Wilfred Mott be the exception given their importance to the Doctor during the beginning and near the end of his lives, respectively. P.S. She called herself Leela of Sevateem a few times in the Big Finish audio stories and it really seemed to fit her character that she would announce her clan to try to intimidate her opponent.
Don't forget the Brig's Middle name. After all the Doctor always full named him whenever he ran into him again. ;) Brigadier Alistair GORDON Lethbridge-Stewart
“Donna, *Donna, DONNA!”* Made me laugh. Then I heard “never forgetting her” and wanted to cry. She’s one of, if not the best, companion the Doctor’s ever had, and she deserves to be remembered as the most important woman in the universe. Can’t wait for them to reunite in the 60th. Their friendship feels so real and raw.
Gosh, where have I been? I didn't know RTD could draw! This whole thing is great. -- I saw Tom Baker era reruns with friends in college in the late 80's, but didn't see earlier or later Doctor Who before the classic era ended. I was so happy to see Doctor Who rebooted by RTD and Chris Eccleston, and I've been a fan since. Looking forward to the 14th Doctor Who coming up.
/casually inserting a joke about countless Eighth's companions who would make this video, like, twice longer/ also, Sara Kingdom is missing somehow - and she had more time in the TARDIS than Katarina
Depends on how you count who is and who isn't an offical compainion. The rule used to be that they had to appear in more than one story and had to have actually traveled in the TARDIS.
I love this little book. It made me dig out my copy of AA Milne's (the creator of Winnie The Pooh) original book 'Now We Are Six', on which a lot of the verse is based. These new verses are fun, and the illustrations are even better. One in particular caught my eye: on page 32, there is an illustration for 'The Toymaker', which shows two toy Daleks, one of which is the peculiar narrow one with weirdly long appendages, that was given away with 'Doctor Who Adventures' magazine. I know that RTD was amused by this, so it was nice to see it appear here. I also like and approve highly of his illustration on page 109 for 'Harriet Jones, P.M.' to whom even the Daleks replied: "Yes. We know who you are."
I love that the second doctor spins out of view his regeneration had him spinning and the third doctor fades into the 4th doctor and that what happens in the regeneration and the fifth doctor has his companions faces around his face and that how the regeneration happened
Omg this is so pretty😍 it's so real... There are so many companions, but there's only one who's never tired of following the Doctor. And it's us. We are the oldest companions ever.🌸
'also clara clara and more clara, never got the end of that palaver'
palaver: 'noun
1. prolonged and tedious fuss or discussion.'
savage
Big Tuna oh i do love that
Half disappointed one of the Clara's wasn't the Dalek...
Bilious shite. Clara was fantastic.
I do so love Jon Culshaw's ability to impersonate Tom Baker
I barely caught the slight shift in his voice until it went full on Baker at K9
Digital Deathsquid and I loved Colin Baker and Capaldi ones too
And Peter Capaldi.
@J Alexander actually…yes, yes he did.
I think his voice subtly shifts when he's reading out 3 and 5's eras.
Russell you forgot Wilf! :D
RTD did the illustrations, not the writing. And in fact, Russell did draw Wilf, not realising he wasn't included in the poem. Unsure if that illustration made it to the printed copy.
He never technically travelled, did he?
Between Chiswick and the Naismith Mansion counts, I assume.
DONNA DONNA DONNA!!! 😭😭😭
As soon as Donna came along and there was the whole. Donna, dONNA DONNAA. I nearly cried bless I loved Donna
Charles Clark too many people hate donna, implying she was simply a filler with not much development and character.. but i love her *SO MUCH* .
I'm still not over what happened to Donna.
Donna was the best, I wish we'd seen her for another season
0:29 Who notices the companions swirling around the drs head like his regeneration
Russel is amazing. He understands the heart of this show more than most.
So Churchill but no Wilfred Mott!
Omg yeh. WILF NEEDS MORE RESPECT
and an action figure
And no mention of Grace?
Donna

Expresses Russell T's pure childlike love of the show.
I absolutely loved it when he said "you" 😘❤ thank you

The cyberman head that the doctor kept while on trenzalore.

Since when does Leela refer to herself as "Leela of the Sevateem"? Print, Audio, Cartoon and one-off characters also don't count.
Trev L Even if one-off companions don't count, shouldn't Dr. Grace Holloway and Wilfred Mott be the exception given their importance to the Doctor during the beginning and near the end of his lives, respectively.

True, we're the most consistent companion and we rarely get a mention, thanks Russell!
He illustrates it
It's a pleasure that we all count as companions.
Russell is actually a great illustrator and he needs to get these lovely drawings published somewhere or snuck into the show. The style is great.
"Who could forget donna?" God damn it the tears are back
i love the "you" at the end
Aw that's so sweet they included the Whovians
This looks like something Dr suess would do!
da real kermit I was getting more of a Tim Burton vibe from this, personally.

The last word of the poem left me speechless. I really like this unusual style and the dynamic of the poem. Thank you!
Russell T Davis is great at doing simple but effective artworks
there's one companion that out runs all of these and its
HANDLES
I'm just glad Katarina got a mention if not an illustration.
I'm DEFINETLY a companion.
AWWWW the end! adorable :3

For every tear that he dropped,
and every tear that we have,
there's a difference between what happened,
and what should have.
This is wholesome
Ressel t davies was Illustrator? Cuz his style is Unique
Yup. He does all the illustrations for "Now We Are Six Hundred".
*Russel T Davies
Daniel Ben-Zvi AS IN 2005-2010
Apparently he wanted to be a comics illustrator/artist before being encouraged into writing by university professors (or high school teachers)
You somehow captured a lifetime of Dr. Who in 1 minute, 15 seconds. Bravo!
I love that we can include Churchill, but not Grace Holloway.
The end was so cute ❤
“Most importantly...there’s you!”
YAY
"River... that's another story" ... beautiful poem.
Donna and Ponds 😍😍😍😍😍
ok i ve got to admit i got a tear in my eye at the end
Have to admit, i was touched with “you” haha
And somewhere in-between-a, poor Katarina. love that line (no one ever remembers poor Katarina)

Fantastic! 😀

i cant lie... i squealed when he said "...And most importantly you"

I love how the 4th Doctor in the illustration such huge round eyes and a big smile, just like the real life crazy eyed appearance! haha
Donna over here
Donna over there
Donna EVERYWHERE
bless you,Donna
Damn Russell is a good artist.
This is adorable!
Your AMAZING Russell T Davis
/casually inserting a joke about countless Eighth's companions who would make this video, like, twice longer/ also, Sara Kingdom is missing somehow - and she had more time in the TARDIS than Katarina
DeerInTheWoods Actaully yeah! Where's Sarah Kingdom!? She had a complete character arc, that was kind of rare in the Black and white era.
It's also missing War Doctors companions (he had them, one of whom was Leela)
looks like a new doctor and companion will be on the chart pretty soon!
This makes me very happy for some reason
I just love this. Great work Russel ! ✏☆
Y'all are just the best.
Aaaah! Must have book, that's my Christmas sorted.
oh my.... this just BEAUTIFUL!!!
This poem is really beautiful
Damn he's a cracking cartoonist too! Wonderfully recognisable.
Love the artwork!

Missed out on Wilf there!! He's my favourite one!!
Depends on how you count who is and who isn't an offical compainion. The rule used to be that they had to appear in more than one story and had to have actually traveled in the TARDIS.
Alex-Kun I've heard that's the rule, but it has a few faults. As far as I know, the Brigadier never traveled in the TARDIS.
@ I don't remember either. I always felt poor Donna got a raw deal.
Best team for me is Troughton, Jamie, Ben and Polly. But I also adored Bill and Nardole
This was beautiful! 😭
Beautiful!!!
I love this so much OMG such a beautiful poem and such amazing illustrations.
I WANT THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!!!!!
What happened to their eyes? Are we mixing fandoms now? Did they get eaten by hollows? Congrats if u know what im on about.
Pure poetry!
