Another tip: wait until your familiars have unlocked all their abilities before metamorphosising them. If you don't, you may lose certain abilities that wouldve been very useful.
A good tip that got me through this game was having a tank for each character (i.e.Bighorn for Oliver early, Anglerfish for Maru and the tombstone for Gyro) and always keep the AI away from using skills. The AI in this game is atrocious and will get itself killed and waste mp non stop. Best way to remedy this is having a tank on them. They won't be of much use in battle but at least they won't be much of a hindrance cause they will be using the tank most often than not. It's also good to keep a physical and magical attacking familiar for when you get to control them or have them go all out.
I fully agree with this tip, so far I've only used Monolith and Lumberwood as tanks and they help a TON. They keep the two characters you aren't using alive much longer and distract the bosses so you can deal a ton of damage with glass cannons, tanks are a necessity in my mind
Another tip: Pay attention to the celestial signs (Sun,star, moon, planet) and know what are their strength and weaknesses. Each sign has a double version which are more stronger than normal. Planet and double-planet are the most rare so if you happen to encounter familliar with this sign, make sure to tame it. Another thing, some characters are better with certain types of familliar so pay attention to their types and partner them where they belong so that they become more powerful to the game.

Also, when your fight enemies with breath attacks to close with a familiar and you find that you can't dodge, I usually press L1 last minute and choose the person that owns the familiar which is usually a ways back from the enemy. It doesn't work all the time but it can help stop damage. Also I have 4 saved games of the org Ni no kuni and absolutely love this game so I thought I might bring this up. Thx

You can look at your map in the companion thing to see where treasures are. They will be x spots on the drawing, you just have to go to the spot on the world map. You can get a head start on some good items early on and you don't need the find treasure spell. Also, make sure you talk to people. I went most of the game in the ps3 version missing a batch of recipes because I didn't talk to the NPC that gives it to you until much later. The AI is atrocious no matter what you do so you kinda have to work around that. Getting defensive, offensive and magical familiars help in that regard.

"There aren't any Great Sage's Secrets hidden in any clocks" 1,000 points for the Final Fantasy VI reference ;D I'm so excited to finally play this game, thanks for these :D
Also a useful trick for making money, is playing Platoon in the Casino. Unlike all the other games it’s not completely based on luck so with a bit of practice you can end up winning big. Exchanging that for the item that gives everyone 200 HP and then selling that makes a lot of money. (And yes it may seem counterintuitive to not buy the sages secret but if I remember correctly the math checks out and you win more buy buying the 200 HP one)
I took the guiding star off not for the feel, but for the fact that I didn't like getting my hand held that much, like through context clues and such I could figure out where to go myswlf and it feels a lot more fun to do it myself rather than just follow a marker
For those playing the PS3 version of the game, Tip #5 is especially useful as you can do a dupe glitch involving wiping out that allows you to sell your Great Sage's Secret, wipe out and get a Game Over, use the option to continue(losing 10% of your guilders) and the Great Sage's Secrets will be back in your inventory. Do this a million times to get the 500,000 guilders needed to get the trophy. It works on the hard PS3 copy due to a bug in the PS3's memory, but it's not known whether the PS3 version you stream on PS+ works that way. (You also have to do some item menu manipulation to ensure the Great Sage's Secrets are in the right spot.) The remastered version for PS4 cannot use this dupe glitch as the remaster patched out the memory problem.
Kinda wish I'd gotten this earlier. That said, I knew a good majority of the game before I got the game itself. I didn't have a PS3 when I first discovered it back in 6th grade, so I figured I'd never get a chance to play it myself. And then the Switch version plopped itself into my life just as I got the Switch😂
i love how this game kept its price while ni no kuni 2 pc is 10£ on every keys shop. i guess it is worth employing studio Gibili for your games art direction
I just finished this for the first time, and I loved it despite some minor issues, but I wish I'd grinded more as I went along instead of zooming through the game.
If you read the Book, you will be able to know where the hidden treasures are, that book contain tons of stuff you can use to your advantage, like how to make Strong coffeefrom Ice coffee and springwater, which save you a lot of money early game.
If anyone has grabbed the game from the most recent Nintendo sale a tip I learned myself was as Mr. Drippy best puts it; Read your wizards compendium! I know you came here to play a RPG game but trust me there are a lot of things you can learn from that book that are helpful and can keep you 4 steps ahead of game mechanics and lore! There are even great stories to read if you just need a break and a good read.
The map in your wizards companion shows the location of hidden treasures, forest villagers, and these stones that won’t play a role until the post game
1. Don’t sell your Sage’s Secrets. They _will_ save your life in a fight you can’t flee 2. Get the merit rewards that increase xp gain and glim drops. MP restoratives are expensive as fuck for so little MP gain, you’ll rely on glims for restoratives instead of items in the early-mid game. 3. Evolve familiars only when they’ve learned all their tricks available. Evolving them early will make you lose tricks that might’ve been useful. 4.There’re many Green Chests hidden around towns and dungeons. These can be easy to miss, sometimes downright dirty(I’m talking about you, Hamelin chest) and hold worthwhile loot 5. Complete Horace’s riddles as soon as you find him. You can first find him at the large gravestone at Ding Dong Dell, and he gives you very useful spells and items as you find him in the next towns. 6. Use treats to optimize a familiars build. I overlooked the Creature Cage in my first playthrough years ago and it was a pretty big mistake
Best tip: FRIGGIN READ THE WIZARD'S COMPANION!!! I don't own the game but downloaded a copy of the wizard's companion on my computer, and it is an amazing book! It teaches you celestial signs, useful info about familiars, and plenty more amazing things! Plus imo you should read it even just for the lore honestly, did you know that when you equip familiars what you're doing is actually feeding them your equipment? They encase the equipment in colored bubbles to make sure their innards stay nice and unpierced, and also to keep them clean when they're retrieved so that other familiars have no problem ingesting them.
I had played this a while back and was looking for videos on the Dragon Quest 3 remake and saw this. Went to the PlayStation store and guess what? It’s 80% off till the end of the money of April. The 13th-27th it’s only $9.99 (American) comes out to $10.69 after taxes and well worth it. I’m super psyched to play this remaster!
2:11 I actually rebinded my ZL and ZR buttons on my switch to left and right and didn't realize the game already did that for me until a week after I got the game
It was specifically because of “Jeepers” and Drippy’s dialect that I switched to the Japanese voice over which made the game much more enjoyable in my opinion.
The most useful tip: If you are a completionist, don’t forget to fight all the wretch, numbers 397 on... I had to restart the game after 50 hours because I didn’t fight all of them :/
A tip: don't use overpowered familiars since they make the game too easy and VERY BORING Like lumberwood, wisp, and the dragon dude which you can get from the genies tabletops Another tip, maximize ester's defensive familiar since she dies first mostly Last and definitely not the least Don't ever rush through the story, it's a good story take your time to savor the journey also plan what familiar what you're gonna catch unless you want to grind for the dropa required ( I legit have a list of familiars to use and what drop is required with the amount you'll get at a certain point in the game )
Thank you so much. Definetly going to sell those great sage potions. I rarely use elixer level potions in any game, so i rather get the cash from it. lol
@@sofaris576 The Guardian was apparently easy, yeah... Just need to be careful with his laser beam attack. But, I couldn't say the same with the Black Orb bosses, especially The Zodiarch.
Currently playing this on Switch for the first time and getting ass-blasted left and right. The battle system really is... something else. I'm pretty sure I absolutely hate it right now, especially because stuff like breaking bosses out of their specials straight up doesn't seem to work half the time. The L2/R2 tip should prove useful though, as the Switch Pro controller D-Pad is utter garbage. Sigh... here's to try yet another time to like this game. All for the awesome Green Buncher...
@Roy Fokker you need a nap mate 😂check my first comment. I said it looks better than the second one. I didn't said graphically. You're making shit up to prove your point. How old are you, 5?😁
I got a tip for 1st timers Stick to the low tier familiars! Low Tier familiars start at level 1 in basic form and get skills mostly until level 30. When you upgrade them and become next tier in level 1 their status may be slightly lower than a wild captured "next tier" that you get at level 10, but if you level the upgraded one to the same level 10 it has better status than the one you caught. I have not advanced much in game, not sure if there's something to raise chances of capturing them. But do try and go back to early areas and get them as soon as you can

It doesn't matter which familiar you'll main since the game is pretty forgiving no matter what you choose

Talk to the tree after every major story event
Why?
Luis NogueiraPT hell give you useful items
He will
@@abowlofsalad7171 thank yoy
Ahhhhhh.... I haven't been doing that!!!
Why am I watching this I’ve beaten the game like 3 times lol. Good video though this stuff is very useful
Same. Except I've done most of these things.
Those are rookie number...
On which console?
Me too haha
This was the very first game I ever got platinum trophy on back when it was a ps3 title.
That is a great first platinum to have.
I played the second one first and just got around to playing this one. It's so good!
Started playing this game now, guaranteed thumbs up for Trailer Park Boys reference!
Great tips! Love the FF references. Can't believe I'm playing this for the first time.
One of my favourite JRPGs
i love how this game kept its price while ni no kuni 2 pc is 10£ on every keys shop. i guess it is worth employing studio Gibili for your games art direction
That's why billionaires are billionaires and stupid people are poor
@@ilimitadouc nop, the idea is art vs mainstream media. art was the one to preserve value in our case
Just found it for $14.99 on the switch eshop. Cant wait to try it out tonight! Looks amazing
I just finished this for the first time, and I loved it despite some minor issues, but I wish I'd grinded more as I went along instead of zooming through the game.
This is my first jrpg ever, nice video
Omg what was the clip from the end of the video. I burst out laughing
Haha it’s from Trailer Park Boys! One of my all time favorites.
Totally lost my sh*t when I saw Lahey coming out stumbling drunk!! Didn't expect that at all haha
From Trailer park boys it's on netflix.
RIP Lahey
I’m offended you don’t know what trailer park boys is possibly triggered
"Well, lucky for you. I already wasted that time for you." HAHAHAHAHA 🤣 Awww... and now we get this list of tips. Good job.
I usually thumbs down any video that ask for thumbs up. But this video, I'll give an exception as it was informative and to the point. Thank you.
that bonus tip almost made me spit out my drink
Was that drink a shot from Oliver saying "Jeepers"?
Jeepers.
Your video is flipping neato.
Thumbs up earned from that Trailer Park Boys insert.
I never did finish this game. Might pick it up on the Switch and these tips will actually help a lot! Thanks.
The map in your wizards companion shows the location of hidden treasures, forest villagers, and these stones that won’t play a role until the post game
1. Don’t sell your Sage’s Secrets. They _will_ save your life in a fight you can’t flee
These can be easy to miss, sometimes downright dirty(I’m talking about you, Hamelin chest) and hold worthwhile loot
I love this game so damn much dude nostalgia is hitting me so damn hard
Bought it a few days ago.
I hope in maybe 10 years i get huge nostalgia too lol
I can't wait to finish sekiro and get onto this game finally!! Thank you for the tips 🙏
Just got my game on sale last week, thanks for the useful tips! :)
Just bought this on sale on psn, hoping I'll enjoy it as much as the 2nd one
I'm an hour in and its one of the greatest games I've ever played. Everyone was right I dunno why I waited...
I have a tip, regularly check back in on old father oak. Each time (at least in my experience) he will give something to you, good gear and such
2:11 I actually rebinded my ZL and ZR buttons on my switch to left and right and didn't realize the game already did that for me until a week after I got the game
omg, ive never been this happy and sad for a long time since im playing this game all kind of emotion mixed in lol
Top tip: The Wizards guide is brilliant.
It covers everything barring the rarest of items.
Great video, new to JRPGS and this helped a lot. Feel like these games are much more grindy than typical rpgs.
Thanks! They definitely are. Hope you come to enjoy the genre :)
i cant believe i came across this game on accident.. this game is a gem!!
I played this originally on the ps3 and planning on getting this on the switch so this helps a lot
Liked for the Trailer Park Boys edit ;)
FIIINALLLLYYYY
Loved the trailerpark boys subbed
It was specifically because of “Jeepers” and Drippy’s dialect that I switched to the Japanese voice over which made the game much more enjoyable in my opinion.
I agree with you, it is much better to play with Japanese audio
I loved Drippy's dialect! But the other sound acting is just so bad...
Viivi Kotila English is not my first language, so his Welsh dialect was quite difficult to understand.
no wai, i love drippy mon.
Drippy was really annoying at first, but I came around to liking how he speaks.
I just beat this game & watching this makes me want to play it again.
The most useful tip:
If you are a completionist, don’t forget to fight all the wretch, numbers 397 on...
I had to restart the game after 50 hours because I didn’t fight all of them :/
have had this game for months on Nintendo Switch and gonna finish from my last save point \m/ thanx 💥
This looks like a superior Pokemon game
ooohhhh tip #1 and #2 is making things very clear to me
Just got the game today, already made it to Golden Grove.
OMG the Elixir in the clock reference! You sir get a like just for that!
the only tip you need is get (Catastroceros) Dinoceros he can delete any boss and tank everything. He's at the genie steps beside temple of trials.
Just started playing, been blowing this game off for years.
I’m finally getting around to playing this
One of the best Games I ever played.
A tip: don't use overpowered familiars since they make the game too easy and VERY BORING
Like lumberwood, wisp, and the dragon dude which you can get from the genies tabletops
Another tip, maximize ester's defensive familiar since she dies first mostly
Last and definitely not the least
Don't ever rush through the story, it's a good story take your time to savor the journey also plan what familiar what you're gonna catch unless you want to grind for the dropa required
( I legit have a list of familiars to use and what drop is required with the amount you'll get at a certain point in the game )
I've only played the second part so far, but I'll probably buy this part too
Thank you so much. Definetly going to sell those great sage potions. I rarely use elixer level potions in any game, so i rather get the cash from it. lol
Well, I may want suggest to keep at least 2 Great Sage for emergency. Especially for Final Boss, and Secret Bosses after completing the game.
@@amurilloreno The scret super boss is pretty much an insult in terms of Dificulty.
@@sofaris576 The Guardian was apparently easy, yeah... Just need to be careful with his laser beam attack. But, I couldn't say the same with the Black Orb bosses, especially The Zodiarch.
tip: on switch version scan all pokemon amiibo. you get swag points by confusing 2 different series
Toko Toko Farming begins!!!
1 time playing it on switch and I used the dam water already my mouth dropped when you said 6k.
i used one of my potions before i noticed. I went back to an earlier save game. I make new saves continously, thats another good tip.
This game looks wonderful! Next summer I'm totally going to play it!
I agree. It looks even better than Ni no kuni 2 😮
@Roy Fokker lmao whatever 😂
@Roy Fokker I played the second one and this one looks better. So whatever pal 😜
@Roy Fokker listen lmao, IN MY OPINION the first one looks better. Stop forcing your opinion on me. That's a proper nonsense 😁
@Roy Fokker you need a nap mate 😂check my first comment. I said it looks better than the second one. I didn't said graphically. You're making shit up to prove your point. How old are you, 5?😁
Dude your vids are so solid
I got a tip for 1st timers
Stick to the low tier familiars!
But do try and go back to early areas and get them as soon as you can
I just got the game so thank you :D
When you get the familiar residing above the cliff its all over.
