When varun starts to explain how gpt works, and for every word he utters he has to explaon the word that he used 😂, varun bro i totally admire your level of abstraction and understanding about ai models, this is what makes you special , i can listen to your thoughts and ideas for a whole day
The kind of podcast we need, complete candid. And the way Nikhil made sure that Varun breaks down things to not only him to understand but also the listeners. But it hurt when varun said PM can be fired
He actually didn't do that good of a job because he kept using very technical terms and it was Nikhil who kept "double clicking" for him to explain those terms. Varun should have realized that he is not really talking to Nikhil, but disseminating complex information to lay audience of the podcast; Nikhil probably knows all that stuff already. This is missing higher order thinking and usually typical of junior software engineers -- they're excellent technically but don't have the thought framework to understand why they're doing what they're doing or to present information at the right level of resolution. It usually comes with experience.
@@0m13 agree with you on this, i work in AI and often have to communicate very similar topics to audiences that don't know how LLMs work and his explanations would not work for a crowd that doesn't have any intuition on the subject. He's dumbing down some aspects too much and then mashing them with others that he hasn't explained or is expecting them to grasp quickly.
@@MayankKumar-ch8pq true, idk what is the need to mention attention paper to people who are new to AI stuff. He can't even explain what learning in the context of DL means is simple words. He is just throwing some random technical words tbh should have invited a better person to explain this.
I must applaud Varun for swiftly & efficiently bouncing back with amazing explanations against the barrage of questions by other speakers…loved how Nikhil remains calm n composed throughout the podcast…Varun’s AI knowledge base is huge and astounding…can’t believe there is a billion dollar company head sitting so calmly at the table…
he was still struglling to explain things like transformers, GPT, or give some good examples. because i understand this concepts I think for a naive user thos are confusing examples to corelate things
I still cannot believe such content is available on UA-cam. I am quite amazed watching this podcast and feel these new generation entrepreneurs are humane.
I rarely comment but have to say i am really enjoying the conversation! Getting to learn a lot at 2 am 😂 and wanted to thank all of you for the insights. Also loved the fact that you had food brought in during the talk which made it feel more natural and just like a group of buddies hanging out and less like a podcast!
Am I the only one to suddenly feel almost everything in the world just got discussed in this podcast and concluded that you're not gonna survive long term. Just increased my levels of anxiety and fear tbh 😢. But hands down, the best podcast i could hv listened to in past few days. How many of you do agree with me?
Just a day old podcast and has crossed over 135k views thats what having Varun and Tanmay on the podcast brings in, as their opinion is worth listening and at times also rewinding the video in case if it is too much for my tiny brain to understand
I have listened to so many podcasts and lectures on GPT. For a non-technical person, this is one of the best explanations I have got so far, I have rewatched it several times and recommended it further to all I know. Thank you for this initiative, Nikhil, for asking all the right questions, and Varun for explaining in so much depth.
Finally, something which feels so real and honest in this era ! It's amazing how people at top of their feilds just talk about things for hours. Gives lot's of perspectives. Thanks Nikhil and everyone else in this podcast.
VArun Mayya started his introduction by saying, "I'm really pessimistic about what's gonna happen to the world in the next 10 years" - and I was like...."yes, that's my guy. Now I'm interested 🙃!"
I kind of agree that going ahead with pessimism and working towards the defence for the outcome is a better approach as with optimism the outcome will always disappoint.
It has been an year and I do come back to these talks 😅 Nikhil's podcasts have replaced netflix series and news for me. I choose to listen to the podcast rather than watch anything else on digital platform. Content being the motivation and how we lack around us. With so much content online but still we keep on searching and scrolling. So when I stop here and consume slowly and rewind by choice of curiousty and absorb willingly, these talks are gold. Wish we can have more people at top doing similar talks.
These podcasts are one of the best things Nikhil has come up with!...Next guest should be Kunal Shah!.... edit:Here is an idea for U!...Do something like choosing random people from ur audience and say u choose it from comments and invite them to have a convo with u guys...it might also add a new perspective as most of the audience is youth and from middle class so u will get to know their perspective or ground reality...and obv a lot can be learned by just being with u guys....

I was amazed when Nikhil asks "What is HTML?",as it's being taught to kids today at their schools. Moral of the story-You don't have to know everything to achieve big,you just have to manipulate the idea and strong conviction you have on a particular thing in the market today!!!

1:41:00 In the video presented by Varun of OpenAI, he explains that a robot can move from point A to point B by sliding, exploiting the fact that robots don't face the risk of injury like humans do. For instance, when a human is sprinting from point A to point B at high speed and encounters another person in their path, they might maneuver or push the individual aside to clear their way. However, if a robot encounters a human while on the same path, it may exert considerable force or even bypass the obstacle forcefully to reach its destination. In both scenarios, the objective remains the same to enable both the human and the robot to reach their destination from point A to point B as swiftly as possible
This is just an amazing, productive 2 hrs I have spent on UA-cam for really long time! Great podcast Nikhil and you are truly an inspiring entrepreneur!
Thanks Nikhil for these conversations. very informative convo guys, one suggestion: take one whiteboard and give it to a person like VARUN, ig he will be able to express his thoughts more better with a marker in his hand... WDYT?
OK i'm an engineering student with a bit of experience in AI and am going to do my masters in Data Science next year and can I just say, Varun explanations are so confusing, like there are simpler ways to explain what he's tried to say and it just feels like his train of thought is not cohesive. For example, GPT is not just a next word predictor, it's one of the many algorithms (like reinforcement learning, gradient-based optimisation, etc.) that make the transformer function the way it does.
I used to thought that these successful people will have ideas about all the things , but through these podcasts i happen to know that these people are just as curious as we are
They're playing the part of being curious so that the audience also has the context of what they're talking about. In AI's case , they might be really curious, but when it comes to marketing, finance, business, basically making money i think they have a pretty good idea than most people on earth.
He might not be knowing all the answers but I’m sure he had good understanding on some topics but he made the panel to talk in the sense that his viewers are 5 year old. It’s essentially USB in his podcasts if you think of it. He is not assuming his viewers are techies. Everything broken down to granular level so that anyone who has no idea on a subject can quickly pickup. Speaks about why he is what he is.
@@gyanendra_ offcourse , man . finance business are the sector's these people are in so it's obvious that they will have knowledge about these sectors so they will have to act curious in order to engage your audience
The amount of thought this podcast has provoked is incredible! I am still pondering the content between the 9 to 11-minute timestamps. So much thought has gone onto saying these things, I can't even imagine!
The Varun Mayya Show 😮😮 Thanks Nikhil for this podcast especially no filtered and Tanmay for recommending I hope this podcast stays with me for longer time
Nikhil being that kid who we all feared to be and still in this generation, the kids fear to ask questions. The sad part is even teachers don’t encourage so many questions and children are scared to even ask so many questions. Major learning is all happening in adulthood.
Hey Nikhil, gotta say, your breakdown of ChatGPT was seriously awesome! I loved how you broke it down step by step and got Varun to expand on each point, give examples, and wrap it all up. And can we talk about the podcast production quality and camera angles? They were on point! I felt like I was right there with you guys, just hanging out and having a chat. Seriously, great podcast! Can't wait for more. Keep 'em coming!
One thing I noticed on @Nikhil Kamath's channel is that he's very observant in general,as an example asking questions like whether cricket is becoming a dying sport.
That moment when Nikhil said to videographers that no need to cut this, shows how he thinks about everyone and takes care of them, that's why you hit different man. For me that was the best moment❤️
Wonderful conversations and I was honestly hoping this should not end. Make it longer. It's knowledgeable and psychological dopamine for two and a half hours. Loved it!
Varun can easily play a better cast than any other movie or shows in India with random tech guy which is young , wearing hoodie & trying to do cool stuff😄. Varun is a gem! So much clarity in thoughts and explains everything in different dimensions.
So many points missed about AI. This white t-shirt guy is the perfect example of half knowledge being dangerous. Nikhil, Tanmay thanks for setting the tone right in the end.
I think as a programmer and coder who have been coding for a long time. My take is that though how we code will definitely change but engineering is not just writing code. You need to be technically and logically very sound to write software or for that make anything useful. I feel a lot of people who are not serious coders are commenting on a profession which they know nothing about.
I love how even though initially Vijay was giving a little high level answers but Nikhil kept on directing him towards simplified answers and then breaking down the answers into constituent parts and again simplify.. Amazing show of how to moderate a discussion about such a technical subject!!
I REALLY appreciate Varun for simplifying ChatGPT so well that it was easily understood by a 20 year old like myself with No Science & Technology Background. This was the Best explanation of ChatGPT I've ever heard. And I even more Appreciate Nikhil (sir) for saying, "We're all Dummies here, so you've to make it easy, no Technical words, no Abbreviations, nothing." I mean, he's THE NIKHIL KAMATH !! But that was the moment I resonated with him 😂 Hoping to see more interesting conversations on this this channel 💙
Thank you for taking the time to create and post this episode. Much appreciated. There was a discussion on how we cannot foresee what ChatGPT (or AI) will say or do because of how complex its structure is or the references it will make use of. In my opinion, if I expect an autonomous vehicle to explain its choice in the event of an accident, I also expect ChatGPT or a similar tool to explain the steps that led to the outcome. Explainable AI is not an unfamiliar concept.
I have become a fan of Nikhil since he started his podcast. Even though I watched his interviews in the past, he did not come across as matured and thorough in his way of thinking until now.
Seems like Varun waited for years and he bursted out everything at once! Its like Varun was on Nofap for a year and he accidently touched a girl's hand and bammm!!!
Loved the way varun sir answering in terms of technology and the way nikhil sir trying to convert the technical answer into layman terms. But as a programmer, learned a lot about technology and tech solutions in general.
Nikhil Kamath's exceptional conversational skills and podcast prowess stem from his remarkable talent for extracting valuable insights from individuals and recognizing their profound expertise in specific domains. He possesses a unique ability to uncover the wealth of knowledge that others possess and truly appreciate the vast potential they hold within their respective fields.
Varun is a very very knowledgeable person but often gets diverted from the main answer because of his overflowed knowledge. Let's call him next time and make him a bit prepared beforehand on the topics that we are to discuss on our next podcast, do call him Nikkhillllll !!
It's called domain expertise, not overflowed knowledge. Did you check out his recent GPT + Unreal Engine project? He's going to put out a paper on it too. If there's one thing I've learnt, it's to never bet against the builders.

I hope you heard Product Managers right?
Dude, Varun is seamlessly teaching them one of the difficult topics of computer science.
lol who tf are you to say this?
@@rupertpupkin4349 Dude did you even understand what he said ? He is complimenting Varun for his teaching skills
One of the best talks of 2023. Kudos to Nikhil. We need podcast on Varun Mayya alone. I could listen to his thoughts all day.
If college lectures were like this, i would never missed any class

Fantastic job varun! Thanks for simplifying such complicated concepts..Thanks to nikhil to make sure no one gets lost in discussions.
I still cannot believe such content is available on UA-cam. I am quite amazed watching this podcast and feel these new generation entrepreneurs are humane.
Apart from all the intellectual conversation, it was hilarious to see Tanmay explain the Korean heart sign to the panel 😅
I feel Varun here😂. There is so much information to process about this topic to get a base understanding, and he's trying his best to simplify it
I rarely comment but have to say i am really enjoying the conversation!
How many of you do agree with me?

this is the type of podcasts we need.. deep explainations and not the superficial ones
No biceps were hurt by this comment.
Just a day old podcast and has crossed over 135k views thats what having Varun and Tanmay on the podcast brings in, as their opinion is worth listening and at times also rewinding the video in case if it is too much for my tiny brain to understand
This video will to amazing to watch 15-20 years down the line to see how much of this matches up
I have listened to so many podcasts and lectures on GPT. For a non-technical person, this is one of the best explanations I have got so far, I have rewatched it several times and recommended it further to all I know. Thank you for this initiative, Nikhil, for asking all the right questions, and Varun for explaining in so much depth.
Nikhil knows how to navigate the podcast for viewers. I love how he asked questions to Varun.
Ha ha .. good way to think… then everything is a blessing 😊

Varun's way of fragmenting ChatGPT word by word and explaining each of them in such a simple language, excellent !!! thanks for that......
The best thing is that all are really active all the time and listening to each and everything.

In the video presented by Varun of OpenAI, he explains that a robot can move from point A to point B by sliding, exploiting the fact that robots don't face the risk of injury like humans do.
We want tons of these podcasts on tons of new topics for tons of years going forward. Thank you, Nikhil.
Thanks Nikhil for these conversations. I don't know what the world would be like in 2035, but learning how you or umang or varun think, respond and communicate gives me a sense of achievement and a template as to how I myself, should prosper to be in my life in my near future.

What a podcast thank you Nikhil sir for such effort and you should always come up with expert like Varun sir .
This is a gold mine, so much so, I have downloaded this video fearing that it might be taken off! Thanks Nikhil and Varun!
very informative convo guys, one suggestion: take one whiteboard and give it to a person like VARUN, ig he will be able to express his thoughts more better with a marker in his hand...
Varun is a. Beast when it comes to AI.Great Podcast 😊
I am getting addicted to nikhil being so trivial, asking the basic questions and making sure he pulls out the best answer.
My view is that they have super speciality on some topics but general knowledge about others
Major learning is all happening in adulthood.
hi
Another great podcast... with Varun it was more interesting to watch..❤❤
That moment when Nikhil said to videographers that no need to cut this, shows how he thinks about everyone and takes care of them, that's why you hit different man.

Tanmay teaching everyone the Korean heart is the nicest way of ending the podcast❤

So much clarity in thoughts and explains everything in different dimensions.
Life changing episode. Kudos to everyone specially Varun!
*Varun
I REALLY appreciate Varun for simplifying ChatGPT so well that it was easily understood by a 20 year old like myself with No Science & Technology Background. This was the Best explanation of ChatGPT I've ever heard.
And I even more Appreciate Nikhil (sir) for saying, "We're all Dummies here, so you've to make it easy, no Technical words, no Abbreviations, nothing."
I mean, he's THE NIKHIL KAMATH !!
But that was the moment I resonated with him 😂
Hoping to see more interesting conversations on this this channel 💙
Thank you for taking the time to create and post this episode. Much appreciated. There was a discussion on how we cannot foresee what ChatGPT (or AI) will say or do because of how complex its structure is or the references it will make use of. In my opinion, if I expect an autonomous vehicle to explain its choice in the event of an accident, I also expect ChatGPT or a similar tool to explain the steps that led to the outcome. Explainable AI is not an unfamiliar concept.
Varun is so damn good with his communication skills ♥️
Honestly?
but his knowledge is only at the abstract level though hence he is very confused with the concept of AI, especially chatGPT.

Its like Varun was on Nofap for a year and he accidently touched a girl's hand and bammm!!!

He didn't even explain what transformers are clearly, if you have some idea about AI, you would understand he is just a hype seller
He has no idea what he is talking about that's why he is able to answer anything properly
Felt the same, and also he's the one who's talking all the time not letting others to even talk.
It's called domain expertise, not overflowed knowledge. Did you check out his recent GPT + Unreal Engine project? He's going to put out a paper on it too.
