I used to own an M76 and I can confirm the problems plus some other minor issues like the fogging up and no voice diaphragm I'm happy I traded it for a Belgian OD bag
With the hungarian one (m76) you realy have to get a mask that fits you very well or even one that is a bit smaller. I have size 2 and it fits my face perfectly (I don't have any problems with the ear straps and it makes a perfect seal) only thing I find a bit annoying is the complete lack of voice diaphragm and the lower portion of the mask pushing against my throat when I look downwards. Try tightening the straps a bit more, yours are very loose compared to mine. Other than that, thank you very much for all your videos, you helped ignite my passion for gas masks, and I also consider you the best source of information there is. Greetings from Czech Republic (by the way, do you own the czechoslovak vz. 35 gas mask?, they are quite rare outside of czechoslovakia and I could get one for you, if you are interested of course)
I'm from Croatia and I bought the Yugo M1 a year or two ago, I left it on my closed balcony over the summer, it didn't melt but it REAKS like burnt rubber, after 2 YEARS, oh and also the rubber above the left eye kinda started tearing, but yeah the rubber is like such a bad quality.
The Yugoslovenian m1 gas mask is abaout 10€ used no filter no bag no acesories included ,original hermetic packed mask with hermetick packed filter ,bag and accesories is 60€ and extra 10€ for adapter for nato filter
Yea, I think this is the only gas mask wich looks normal and not for full head like gp-5. And yea i just want it for cosplay too not for normal usage. (btw im from Hungary so maybe that boost my thinking of this mask too).
I look at the thumbnail- 'oh yay! my fav hungarian gas mask needed for all patriots like me!' I look at the title-'oh... oh no... a spy sent by Khrushchev...' All jokes aside this is a great video!
hell yeah man XD I've got three, all from the cold war and people say to "take That off its too scary". Personally, I think dying of lung failure cuz of covid is a bit worse than looking uncanny lol
The earlier version of the 75M gas mask was the 67M, and it was designed to use a hose as far as I know. I have one myself but it's size 3 so it's no way of fitting on my head, maybe my grandpa had a small had like that (I found it at their house), but it also had the hose.
I do like the look of the Hungarian mask but I don't much care for the lambs suede seal - that said it is creepy looking and one for everyones collection
In my personal opinion, the Yugoslavian M1 is probably the least worst of the masks mentioned here. Just keep it in a cool, dry area where heat and moisture can't damage it. I'll take that idea to heart when I own one some day and a 40mm NATO adapter for it.
newer mc-1 has better threads and the melting problem has been resolved by thicker rubber and stronger rubber also you need to move it around or keep it in a really cold place cus if any ruber gets too hot it will melt P.S im from serbia and the older mc-1 was thinner and weaker also the rubber was thiner and the threads were smaler but in the newer one the threads are bigger
A huge fear of mine would be if a gas mask got stuck to my face and the filter wasn’t working properly meaning I couldn’t breathe I would be suffocating in this mask Even freaks me out just to think about having any Mask stuff my face anything that goes over my head I think if I can’t get it off that’s what scares me
What I'm scared of is my only mask option being one of those masks which have an extremely cramped face area, a small, barely effective filter and small, easily fogged lenses. My other fear is having to use it.
The issues you list with the gp-7/pmk series for some reason I dont have with my pmk-2. Could be something to do with different facial structure but idk. Well actually the straps are still shit but everything else seems to be fixed for me
I haven't had any of these problems with my Yugo M1, the screw threading on mine is fine and I've noticed no deformities or melting or anything so maybe mine is an odd one out or something?
Ackchyuallyy...Hungary produced the own version of GP-5. Its called 60M Both for civ.protection and military use. And yeah thats kinda weird why stopped the manufacturing of that mask and designed this strap-canvas monster.
just imange a nuke drops you get your nbc suit on and reach for your gas mask only to find the thread dosent work so you turn around grab another filter turn back around and find a pile of glass meatl and green sluge
The last mask i got at home myself. Never had a problem with it, filters work on it just fine, and it actually fits me right. I tried a sealing test, and it worked fine aswell. Maybe you got the wrong size after all ? or I just have a perfect fit i guess
I have checked with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, and when stored in original packaging the filters for Skyddsmask 90 should have infinite shelf life. The civilian version of the mask (Forsheda A4) states a shelf life for filters of 20 years or more.
ye the straps on the gp7 rip out your hare but i still like the mask but they are still super hard to adjsut aswell but its still one of my favourite masks for looks and dressing up and stuff :)
I have about 27 Hungarian 75M's. All of the sizes. One has to learn how to use it. How to adjust the stripes for example. I have had no problems with them, and to be fair I love these masks. They protect you from average threats, look amazing, and easily customisable. I think they are perfect for starters. And I usually hate the things I start with, so I am glad that this is an exception.
This is kind of like a buyer's guide to me because I really do want a gas mask and I'm kind of settling for the gp5 for cosplay and I don't really know what to buy for actual uses
Ah yeah a Dräger X-plore is pretty good, have it at work. Need it when taking samples from trucks with chemicals. I can however see how the chinese would fuck up coppying it lol.
Didn't know my M75 was one of the worst ! Fortunately I use it only when firing firecrackers/fireworks and for photos. It came with soviet-style filter, I didn't know at first about the asbestos but after 2 days of having the mask I bought a MOF-6 combination filter. Cheers
I have an M-1/M-59 but mine doesn't seem to fit anything I'm finding on it. It has a molded M in a circle underneath the M-59 on the side and the date on it doesn't make any sense to me based on the Yugoslavian date convention
I have the M1 the one problem I have with it I don’t know if I have this problem but when I checked mine one of the straps came off like the rubber ripped don’t know what happened but don’t know how to repair the strap but if you know how to repair those a try to tell me how
It is actually quite a hard thing to do, not just design but also get to 'mass'produce a gas mask with a really bad fit and things wrong with it that you'd find in five minutes. That takes some serious detachment

My M2 is good to go though, and here in a week or so I'll let you know what my M2F is like.

worst gas mask: no gas mask
Correct

Exactly, better to have a poor mask in a gas attack then none at all.
Gas mask is best for zone fellow cheeki breeki brethren
Yeah even a leaking filter on a gas mask with cracked rubber is probably better than nothing

I am getting a Vz. 33

Da... Ja imam MC1 još mi se nije rastopila hahahahahhahahh ali si mislim kupiti izraelski 4A1 ili Ruski GP5.
M76 kinda reminds of the polish mc1
I bought the Hungarian Gas Mask just because the look is really nice
It does look cool, it's just not very practical.

Just buy a new filter? Its much less effort and actually functions... if you were to 3d print one just leave it empty for cosplay purposes.

3. GP-7

the gp7 looks cool but its garbage

It's true the Hungarian M76 is a cheap ,weak gas mask but it is great for post apocalyptic cosplay!
Yeah looks cool but not very functional.

I probably would add a P3 filter, they aren't expensive and if you try to smelt old lead you probably get some dusty lead. I don't know if a ABEK would stop lead.
Lead dust itself is blocked by a particle filter so a P3 filter, but getting a full ABEKP3 filter would not be a bad idea.
