I do have some nitpicks for one of my favorite games, battlefield 1, regarding the gas masks in the game. 1, they wear the British MK-IV GSR respirator, the setting is in WW1 (1914-1918) and it never existed then. They should be wearing the British SBR, or,"the piss rag," if you're French. 2, the mask doesn't have a hose, or filter. It can't protect you... period. 3, regarding both masks on both forces, you should be able to aim down sights. 4, now this is regarding the flame trooper. Their wearing the seibe Gorman smoke respirator, used by firefighters, and some german flame troops during ww1. Now, the problem is: it protects you from incoming fire, but there's no other body armor visible. A few things they got right? They got the two eyes make one shape thing, where there's still lots visible, as you've said in your last game and movie video. They got the german Lederschutzemask spot on.
I find it weird they get some stuff right and some stuff obviously wrong, but I guess a lot of developers probably type into Google. "WW1 gas mask" "WW2 gas mask" and then just simply make a mask based off of Google images.
Dude you made me appreciate the little things in games like the gas mask for example. Also when you mentioned Rainbow six siege it great. Don't let other people bring you down like how you mentioned multiple times in the video, because all this is really nice to know and it feels great knowing it.
I'm mentioning it as a disclaimer for the people who may not be paying attention, I got far less hate for this video than the previous one where I offered no disclaimers.
Out of pure curiosity I wore a GAS mask under water in battlefield 1 just to see if it would let you swim underwater forever without drowning It didn’t work
I just want to point out in most viral zombie games theres usually multiple ways to get infected, like being bitten, scratched, ect. Very informitive video i enjoyed it
One thing I always thought about was how easily puncturable a full nbc suit was. Anyone with a knife or perhaps scraping by a kind of sharp object would compromise the entire system. So I thought about using chainmail or some sort of cut resistant material or fabric.
Most NBC suits are surprisingly thick, car tyres don't puncture all that easily with 1-2 tonnes of weight on often rocky road surfaces, so a suit brushing against something sharp wouldn't cause any major issues.
NBC suits are multiple layers of fabric interspersed with activated charcoal. They are pretty freaking thick and heavy. Imagine a nice thick comforter blanket doubled over and you'd be around the ballpark in what they are like. In theory even a knife puncture wouldn't compromise them as the charcoal would seal the gap. I'm not keen to test that though.
In rainbow six siege, the operators that wear the gas masks are not actually protected from (smoke's) gas grenade somehow and it still deals damage to them.
Well I kinda understand in a game that the mask gives some protection, because realistically it would give you a bit against concussive damage and laceration, but most bullets would ignore them and push through
In the movie The Mist (2007), at the end there is a scene with a truck full of soldiers and one in an NBC suit, this movie is set in the present but the US soldier is wearing an old soviet PMG gas mask with the original green filter with the plug still in!
Wtf, why would you need to sens death threats to ones who point out things that are design flaws in video games, but movie sins channel won't get killed because they point out literally everything wrong in movies, which is way more than like 6 little things that wouldn't make a difference that people wouldn't care to tell people that knowledge
Great video! You’re very knowledgeable and remind me of the “Forgotten Weapons” guy. It’s nice learning about gas masks without having these misconceptions in my head to begin with! Your videos are my first source of info on masks. I feel lucky and am learning a lot! Death threats. Lol. Most people who make death threats aren’t even into gore. Probably scared of it, in reality.
Jack: 9:00: In WWZ (the game) the "gasbags" wear full HAZMAT suits, which are still intact, and airproof (Because they still keep the Zed gas in.) yet they still got infected.
Keep it coming my dude, the fact that you have time to answer so many questions in the comments really makes it feel like we're part of a community (a weird one at that), thanks for the hard work
good video actually some civil duty have metal clamps that are easy to remove the filter but the wire tape requires new wire, also they remade Survivors and its pretty good programme.
I was a sailor in the US Navy for ten years in the 80s and 90s . We were issued a MK 5 gas mask on the two warships I sailed on . They were equipped with canisters at all times and kept at our battle stations in canvas carry bags along with our flotation vests . We trained with them during General Quarters . The canisters were changed out with fresh ones when we deployed to a war zone . There were atrophine and amyl nitrate styrettes available . We were trained to administer the drugs by stabbing ourselves or others in the thigh muscle , trying not to break the needle off in the thigh or hit the femur . The damage control parties wore rebreathers called OBA (Oxygen Breathing Apparatus) designed for firefighting , but had MK 5s available . OBAs have a facemask attached to a heavy chest piece that contains a canister and two rubber lungs . The canister converts CO2 into breathable air and last 30 minutes . Naval vessels have two systems that would be used before the gas masks should be necessary . The first system is the positive air system , wherein the air intakes filter the air brought into the ship to feed the engines and crew . Inside the skin of the ship the air is safe to breathe . The second system consists of a series of water lines and nozzles that cover the vessel in a mist that keeps chemicals and radioactive fallout from contaminating the ship . This is called the Countermeasure Washdown System . The ships also have decontamination stations , usually on the outside decks , but some inside the hull . Damage Control and Medical Department teams have detectors for chemical , radiological , and biological agents . Gas Free Engineers use air sampling devices to detect explosive gasses , poisonous gasses and determine the level of breathable oxygen in ships spaces . You wouldn't want to shoot a gun in a space full of explosive gasses , and you wouldn't want to go into an oxygen free environment wearing a regular gas mask . I haven't played video games in a couple of years , but I hope I can be of help to the viewers . Recently I watched a player review a first person shooter game that takes place on an aircraft carrier . If you were in combat on a US Navy ship the gas masks available would be different than those available on land . Cheers !
Interesting thanks, somebody kept asking me the other day why Royal Navy sailors were allowed beards but not RAF or Army and I said it would probably be something to do with positive pressure ship design or mask design. So I was sort of right but didn't know half the stuff you had said, so cheers.
Only thing about gas mask that bother me is Sledge(no exhale vent), Mute(his exhale vent is covered by his tape), Lion(he wear one of those mask that push air in and excess air get push out around his mask. He still take damage from Smoke's gas) and then Smoke(Captiao "fire" arrow only affect air which mean SAS and CBRN should be immune but they aren't)
I hear you man... Not military but i wear a full face respirator daily as an HVLP painter and people always ask the stupidest questions and think they know what it can do.
This sounds dumb but could metro be explained due to most filters being scavenged radiation had pre poured into it? (This isn’t any kind of hate I was joust questioning it from that perspective)
As I explained in the video, all filters last about 5 minutes regardless of where you find them, and irradiation of filter materials doesn't really happen, the particle filter catches irradiated dust.
Thanks for this, I learned some things! I always thought it was kind of immersion breaking in the Metro Games to have a Filter run out that fast, like 10 minuets in-game.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 I dont think you stated this game but in the Paris mission in call of duty modern warfare 3 when they are in Paris and they wear the gasmasks are they correct
Pretty cool analysis, but regarding the riot gear zombies I think it's not too much of a stretch to think they could have gotten scratched either somewhere that wasn't armored, or possibly before suiting up.
@Weaponsandstuff93 it probably still work better then the Japanese nambo pistol lol also it’s the combat shotgun from fallout 3. The riot shotgun from new Vegas is pretty much just a usas with a look redesign or browning auto shotgun with a mag well instead of a tube.
I don't care so much with the games unless they trying to be super realistic, but as you said, when someone sees something in a film or game, and is then convinced reality is like the game. That's when it gets frustrating.
In my Firefighter I class (many years ago), they told us that our SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) would actually work underwater. I never felt the urge to find out for myself.
I'd assume an actual SCBA unit can't and only a SCUBA can, however I guess a well built setup would work for either, but I assume pressure problems would result if you went more than a few feet deep.
Weaponsandstuff93 - I think that the main differences between the two are that the SCBA has a full face mask instead of a mouthpiece and the low pressure regulator is set to provide a slight positive pressure to the mask at all times to keep out smoke and other nasty stuff. The SCUBA requires a slight negative pressure to provide air unless you hit the purge valve. The old belt mounted low pressure regulators (with the elephant trunk hose to the mask) could have a significant pressure difference between the regulator and the mask with its exhalation valve that could screw things up. Modern SCBAs have the low pressure regulator and exhalation valve together at the mask where the pressure difference is nil. In actual use, the biggest problems with the old elephant trunks was that water could get into the regulator and freeze and the big hose could get pinched off. The newer units are immune to these failure modes.
when you said in horror movies some realism is out the window no its all logic and common sense people in horror movies are dead the moment the movie starts
Im asking myself if i could carry a filter under water if its closed off (plug on bottom and lid with rubber ring on top). Should technaclly be possible right?
Aparently my brother said toys r us are going bankrupt but he said they will be up long enough for chritmas to pas unrelated to the video but i thought it was interesting
in cod mw3 spec ops there is a mission called toxic paradise. in the mission you have to take leaking nerve agent samples but you do it wearing a juggernaught suit (EOD bombsuit) which offers no gas protection.
2 Questions. 1. Do you know if they used real ww2 gas masks in movies or did they have prop ones. 2.I need some help i try and find gas masks on Ebay its litteraly plagued with gp5s.Its so annoying lets say i want a russian mask MM1 but no.I just get gp5s.And i know oyu made a bunch of videos for a buying guide.
I dought thay would use real ww2 gas masks in movies because even teachers in my school know that russian soviet or pre 1965 gas masks have asbestos in them
In COD BO1 there's a mission near the end where the entire area your in is submerged in gas, and mind you this is the game's end all be all super weapon, with a color similar to mustard gas, it's a nerve gas called Nova 6. In said mission, you are in full CBRN gear, and it actually gets it right, when you get shot... you die in seconds. Mind you, what happens when the gas touches you is it rots your skin and clothes, makes you throw up, and fairly quickly dissolves your eyes and other similarly sensitive organs, and then you die, rotting in the gas.
9:57 another explanation is that zombies (that didn't have protective gear on when they were infected) took the equipment from dead riot cops, although in most movies it'd seem they'd be too stupid and slow to do that
Going back to your comment on sledge, he does have exhale valves, they're just where your filters are supposed to be, so he has one filter and 2 exhale valves
I'm not usually entertained by this sort of content, but for some reason i found this video quite entertaining. I'm pretty hard to entertain so therefore i think you deserve a thumbs up
Can I just share my opinion? On the part about rainbow 6: seige and black ops one, story-wise none of the characters were actually shot so the suits were never compromised. For the part about the health regenerating I usually just say that instead of saying you were shot I say that I'd count that as a near miss (single player only). Great content, keep it up.
Just one point about the Civilian Duty respirator, some later examples come with a metal clamp which replaces the wire and tape which does allow changing of the filter more easily but I know it's not really a relevant point as it's hardly practical for changing the filter whilst wearing the mask without an extremely high risk to the wearer, just interesting that the tape and wire was recognised as being too much of a hassle even when changing the filters in between use. A similar thing was done with the General Service Respirator using a metal clamp with a screw to attach the hose to the filter.
Indeed, at a guess the procedure for changing them would be exactly the same it simply made the process of actually doing so that little bit easier and less wasteful.
Some shotguns which have aftermarket modifications to allow tube magazines to be replaced with detachable box magazines have their magazine wells surprisingly far forward. A system designed for Mossberg 500 series shotguns comes to mind. Basically the magazine sits about where the first round would normally sit in a normal tube magazine. Allowing the mechanism to strip rounds off the top of the magazine and feed them as if they had been in a tube magazine.
Theres a US training video about nerve gas and they were all just wearing a mask and a normal uniform, no chemical suits or anything. It says if the shell lands near and your splashed with it then you gotta cut off the wet bit of the uniform and apply atropine.
That's wishful thinking really to stop soldiers panicking, without NBC suits in a nerve agent attack you are dead. Atropine and taking off contaminated clothes would buy you time but that's it.
Fun fact: In the Metro novels the filters actually last for several hours, since Artyom sleeps on the surface at night and wakes up the next morning with 2 hours to spare in his filter. The filters aren't recycled (afaik). The games seriously exaggerate the industrial capabilities of the metro, with ammunition and weapon manufacturing not being a thing in the books and everything being finite in quantity. The novels do get a lot right about protective equipment.
Interesting so it is a pure gameplay element, thanks for that, the issue I have as I've not read the books is lots of people say you need to read the book to understand something about the game.
It's more like, if you want a full and more developed version of the plot and characters you go to the book. Many elements of the story and setting are quite different and the overall tone of the story is different. I'd quite recommend you give it a read.
*”And some people in the comments get very very upset so I've been receiving death threats and stuff like that.”* That is just absolutely ridiculous, I just love that you can't have an opinion on UA-cam anymore and if you do make a video with your opinion people respond by making insults and death threats etc, that is just absurd I have no words, even though it's pretty funny it’s just dumb.
i have a thing a game gets wrong about hazmat suits, so in left for dead 2 their are these ceda agents witch have bite proof and fire proof suits but they are infected

One thing that bugged me a lot more than it should have was in the horror movie "The Mist", at the end, when the military comes to rescue everyone, they're all wearing a variety of cold war Soviet gas masks, such as the PMG. They're all wearing Soviet NBC suits, aswell. However, all of the military up until that point are wearing US uniforms, and it's pretty obvious that it takes place in the US.
Another thing that troubles me is that it looked like they were wearing them with their cold war filters. I sure hope that the actors only wore them for a few minutes, or the filters were cleaned out beforehand, because that'd be horrible for the actors if they didn't.
In the metro games do have filters that expire fast but there are filters that go out in in about 15 minutes. So there are filters that go out fast. The metro games also have all the filters unpluged and not put into proper sterage.
Corbon mono oxide is really nasty stuff. A scilent and unseen killer. My fathers cousin used to have a boat. (For ransport.) And one really unlucky kid/teenager he knew who had some sort of trouble at home asked if he could sleep in the boat for a night. In the evening he lit a parrafin lamp that produced carbon mono oxide that killed him in his sleep.
From what I remember about Rebirth (Mission 13) in BO1, during the second half, if shot while in the Nova 6 nerve gas you die immediately. There is a grace period after the cut scene to let you reach cover. I cant find any videos on it so we could both be wrong.
One example of bullet proof gas mask I could find are in one of those gun games you find at the arcade. Its in one of those Time____ something games with a boss that takes a bajillion shots to the head with a gas mask until they die.

Weaponsandstuff93 haha, pretty much.
Dominique 9325 I do. Stay to cod.
If you’ve ever fired a rifle with a gas mask it’s not easy and I guess they were trying to represent that
Where_have_I_been maybe, maybe.
Dude you made me appreciate the little things in games like the gas mask for example.
Also when you mentioned Rainbow six siege it great. Don't let other people bring you down like how
you mentioned multiple times in the video, because all this is really nice to know and it feels great knowing it.
I'm mentioning it as a disclaimer for the people who may not be paying attention, I got far less hate for this video than the previous one where I offered no disclaimers.
Out of pure curiosity I wore a GAS mask under water in battlefield 1 just to see if it would let you swim underwater forever without drowning
It didn’t work
I just want to point out in most viral zombie games theres usually multiple ways to get infected, like being bitten, scratched, ect. Very informitive video i enjoyed it
Cheers
One thing I always thought about was how easily puncturable a full nbc suit was. Anyone with a knife or perhaps scraping by a kind of sharp object would compromise the entire system. So I thought about using chainmail or some sort of cut resistant material or fabric.
Meis magiic Doesn't stick to skin, and putting it over the rubber would make it heavy.
Most NBC suits are surprisingly thick, car tyres don't puncture all that easily with 1-2 tonnes of weight on often rocky road surfaces, so a suit brushing against something sharp wouldn't cause any major issues.
its called a t i r e
NBC suits are multiple layers of fabric interspersed with activated charcoal. They are pretty freaking thick and heavy. Imagine a nice thick comforter blanket doubled over and you'd be around the ballpark in what they are like.
In theory even a knife puncture wouldn't compromise them as the charcoal would seal the gap. I'm not keen to test that though.
Let's just go to sleep.
In rainbow six siege, the operators that wear the gas masks are not actually protected from (smoke's) gas grenade somehow and it still deals damage to them.
Apart from smoke which makes even less sense
Great video I hate it when I see death threats in the comments like wow chill out
Yeah getting upset over games, really.
Weaponsandstuff93 it triggered myself
Well I kinda understand in a game that the mask gives some protection, because realistically it would give you a bit against concussive damage and laceration, but most bullets would ignore them and push through
Hey I just wanna say congratulations.....ur channel has been growing so fast. 😁-weaponsandstuff93
Thanks
In the movie The Mist (2007), at the end there is a scene with a truck full of soldiers and one in an NBC suit, this movie is set in the present but the US soldier is wearing an old soviet PMG gas mask with the original green filter with the plug still in!
Wtf, why would you need to sens death threats to ones who point out things that are design flaws in video games, but movie sins channel won't get killed because they point out literally everything wrong in movies, which is way more than like 6 little things that wouldn't make a difference that people wouldn't care to tell people that knowledge
He probably does get death threats I'd assume, every decent sized UA-cam channel will get death threats.
The Silencer most people that make death threats, are edgy 12 year olds.
I quite enjoy Forgotten weapons and the inrange videos.
eww
Awesome video Liam loved that intro fella pmsfl
Glad you enjoyed it.
Jack: 9:00: In WWZ (the game) the "gasbags" wear full HAZMAT suits, which are still intact, and airproof (Because they still keep the Zed gas in.) yet they still got infected.
Don’t listen to the haters lister to your subscribers
Keep it coming my dude, the fact that you have time to answer so many questions in the comments really makes it feel like we're part of a community (a weird one at that), thanks for the hard work
Glad you enjoy the videos.
good video actually some civil duty have metal clamps that are easy to remove the filter but the wire tape requires new wire, also they remade Survivors and its pretty good programme.
I didn't like the remake, I think they only did series one as well and then dropped it.
In my opinion you are the best UA-cam at explaining gas masks
what? HOW DARE YOU POINT OUT FACTUAL INACCURACIES IN POP CULTURE? POP CULTURE IS 100% ACCURATE 100% OF THE TIME.
lol
So I was sort of right but didn't know half the stuff you had said, so cheers.
good video, like the rainbow six siege points.
What sort of questions? Things like can you wear that in space?
This sounds dumb but could metro be explained due to most filters being scavenged radiation had pre poured into it? (This isn’t any kind of hate I was joust questioning it from that perspective)
Just_Xiva if radiation is already in the filter then your dead when you put it on depending on the type of radiation
As I explained in the video, all filters last about 5 minutes regardless of where you find them, and irradiation of filter materials doesn't really happen, the particle filter catches irradiated dust.
Metro last light did this as well. Before you go outside you have to wear a special suit not just a gas mask.
The Filter looks nice
Canadian C3 filter.
Thanks for this, I learned some things! I always thought it was kind of immersion breaking in the Metro Games to have a Filter run out that fast, like 10 minuets in-game.
5 minutes in game, less on the harder difficulties, quite a difference between that and several hours for real filters.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 I dont think you stated this game but in the Paris mission in call of duty modern warfare 3 when they are in Paris and they wear the gasmasks are they correct
Would a metro let's play be possible?
I'm currently playing through 2033 and screenshotting every mask I see to do an identification video on, but I don't really want to do a lets play.
Weaponsandstuff93 ok thanks
Weaponsandstuff93 pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaassseeeeee do it
Pretty cool analysis, but regarding the riot gear zombies I think it's not too much of a stretch to think they could have gotten scratched either somewhere that wasn't armored, or possibly before suiting up.
Well I'm not on that list of people sending death threats
Nope
your videos are so good i sit here watching them for hours
Nice morrowind poster
Cheers
I’ve watched enough forgotten weapons to know those shotguns you mentioned are 100% possible in some magical mechanical genius way
Ah just a very very impractical way lol
@Weaponsandstuff93 it probably still work better then the Japanese nambo pistol lol also it’s the combat shotgun from fallout 3. The riot shotgun from new Vegas is pretty much just a usas with a look redesign or browning auto shotgun with a mag well instead of a tube.
yeah, grinds my gears when video games get things wrong. even worse is when people argue using it as evidence...
Weaponsandstuff93
- I think that the main differences between the two are that the SCBA has a full face mask instead of a mouthpiece and the low pressure regulator is set to provide a slight positive pressure to the mask at all times to keep out smoke and other nasty stuff.
I've seen some that avert the rules a bit but you're right for the most part.
Im asking myself if i could carry a filter under water if its closed off (plug on bottom and lid with rubber ring on top). Should technaclly be possible right?
greetings from russa
Hello.
Russ B
What the hell people making death threats!!! They need to Chill out
Aparently my brother said toys r us are going bankrupt but he said they will be up long enough for chritmas to pas unrelated to the video but i thought it was interesting
They're closing a load of stores dunno if that's all of them, I don't really buy anything from toys r us anyway.
My s10 was isdued to some one called dave before i got it
in cod mw3 spec ops there is a mission called toxic paradise. in the mission you have to take leaking nerve agent samples but you do it wearing a juggernaught suit (EOD bombsuit) which offers no gas protection.
COD series isn't remotely close to correct about anything really.
Cod is absolute rubbish
mw2 and mw4 are good tho
COD 4 is fantastic
In my opinion the first two mw games as well as world at war and the first two black ops are the only good cod games
Mw4 Wym?
Sazurx the reboot
When he was talking about call of duty gas masks in the beginning, I got a call of duty ad.
Well at least it's relevant lol, apparently the new cod is really good though
2 Questions.
1. Do you know if they used real ww2 gas masks in movies or did they have prop ones.
2.I need some help i try and find gas masks on Ebay its litteraly plagued with gp5s.Its so annoying lets say i want a russian mask MM1 but no.I just get gp5s.And i know oyu made a bunch of videos for a buying guide.
I dought thay would use real ww2 gas masks in movies because even teachers in my school know that russian soviet or pre 1965 gas masks have asbestos in them
Dr breen's combine elite Cough Cough Most of them have asbeatos(Soviet filters) Cough Cough Maybe till the 90s
Type in MM1 gas mask, if some come up buy one, if not try again later.
As for question one, mostly both.
This guy has the right mind set on things, pointing out what a video game did wrong takes a lot of balls
Armies of rabid fanboys will attack you apparently.
Can you use the plug on your filter to go under water?
YaBoi Yoda you could, but then you'd just suffocate yourself
That's called holding your breath.
Yes because suffocating under water is the best way to die
like Weaponsand said hold your breath. I thought the plug would work but I wasn't sure. and thanks for the replay
The plug doesn't suck air out of your lungs
With the black ops thing I was like bruh the bullet hole in the suit, but you only die if your mask breaks
OH MY GOD YOUR TOTALLY WRONG YOU TOTALLY CAN SURVIVE IN WATER AND WITH PLUG IN UR MASK!!!!!!!
Is that a joke, if you plug your mask with it on you suffocate.
This must be a joke you breath through your filter if you plug your mask you will suffocate.
You should make an intro it might help you on your road to 1 million and more
Rabbitpower he has a video of why he has not and will not have an intro
Rabbitpower did u watch his q & a video he talks about it
Oh thanks I will watch it
If I did an intro it would probably be 5 seconds or less.
Weaponsandstuff93 still would be cool and we’re did you find your Belgium L702 gas mask I looked on eBay but I couldn’t find it
9:57 another explanation is that zombies (that didn't have protective gear on when they were infected) took the equipment from dead riot cops, although in most movies it'd seem they'd be too stupid and slow to do that
I'm the 420th like :)
I remember in call of duty black ops 1, the gad masks also make you immune to flash bangs
who could ever send a death threat to this guy, he's like the coolest dude ever
Going back to your comment on sledge, he does have exhale valves, they're just where your filters are supposed to be, so he has one filter and 2 exhale valves
Sledge doesn't have any filters on his stock model, and he has blanking plugs in the filter intakes, he'd suffocate to death.
I'm not usually entertained by this sort of content, but for some reason i found this video quite entertaining. I'm pretty hard to entertain so therefore i think you deserve a thumbs up
Cheers
13:28 In that COD mission interestingly enough if you get shot enough times the suit fails and you die of nerve gas.
It's weird they have that mechanic, but getting shot once doesn't compromise the suit.
To be too accurate, if a bullet hit the glass at a low enough angle, it might just ricochet of the glass.
True, Paul Harrell did a good video showing bullets ricocheting off of car windscreens.
When the last of us has the gas mask underwater i was like how are you still alive
Cheers
Just one point about the Civilian Duty respirator, some later examples come with a metal clamp which replaces the wire and tape which does allow changing of the filter more easily but I know it's not really a relevant point as it's hardly practical for changing the filter whilst wearing the mask without an extremely high risk to the wearer, just interesting that the tape and wire was recognised as being too much of a hassle even when changing the filters in between use. A similar thing was done with the General Service Respirator using a metal clamp with a screw to attach the hose to the filter.
Interesting though, I imagine there was also a problem of the logistics of actually having the spare filters for the user to swap them.
Indeed, at a guess the procedure for changing them would be exactly the same it simply made the process of actually doing so that little bit easier and less wasteful.
instant death when shot where nerve gas is present would be a pretty cool game mechanic.
Interesting.
I love your videos about Gas mask, it's a great research materials for my gas mask concept designs!
Cheers.
You were not kidding when you said these are nit-picks. Still a good watch.
Cod Kids giving out death threats but when the boys in blue knocks on their doors they go crying to mommy because they don't want to go to jail.
Fanboys are awful.
I remember seeing masks where it’s just a mask with a voice diaphragm, and that’s it.
i have a thing a game gets wrong about hazmat suits, so in left for dead 2 their are these ceda agents witch have bite proof and fire proof suits but they are infected
Yeah and the suits are still positively pressured.
Huge fan of the Last of Us but..... there were some inaccuracies the left me puzzled, Outstanding video sir thank you for your information and research.
Cheers
Love these videos my first gas mask is this same model I believe a C-3 dated 1944 don’t know where it’s from or the history behind it but maybe it’s seen some action!!! Keep up the good content these videos are what got me into collecting them hello from Saskatchewan Canada
If it's dated 1944 it will be a British Light anti-gas respirator Mark 1.
Yeah sounds like it was cheaper to buy Soviet NBC gear.
Another thing that troubles me is that it looked like they were wearing them with their cold war filters. I sure hope that the actors only wore them for a few minutes, or the filters were cleaned out beforehand, because that'd be horrible for the actors if they didn't.
Lots of films have asbestos filters in them.
Mars Attacks had USAians using a Soviet T-54/55 tank.
Great source for common knowledge and for people interested in making Bug-out kits.
Thanks.
In the metro games do have filters that expire fast but there are filters that go out in in about 15 minutes. So there are filters that go out fast. The metro games also have all the filters unpluged and not put into proper sterage.
All the filters in Metro expire in exactly 5 minutes, less on harder difficulties.
Yeah it's why electricity was a lot safer than using old lamps.
From what I remember about Rebirth (Mission 13) in BO1, during the second half, if shot while in the Nova 6 nerve gas you die immediately. There is a grace period after the cut scene to let you reach cover. I cant find any videos on it so we could both be wrong.
Never mind I found more videos where the person playing actually gets hit and all the happens is the gas mask cracking.
Are there any gasmask who would water resistant/repelling? This would seem smart for use in more aquatic areas?
All masks are water resistant unless you go underwater in them.
I love your videos were you point out everything games and films get wrong.
Cheers
One example of bullet proof gas mask I could find are in one of those gun games you find at the arcade. Its in one of those Time____ something games with a boss that takes a bajillion shots to the head with a gas mask until they die.
Or pretty much any FPS where you have gas mask soldiers and they have really high HP, surviving multiple headshots.
