While I feel 8k-11k is insanely high I feel 1k is too low especially accounting for the distance you had to travel. I wouldn't have touched that for less than 2k maybe 2.5k factoring in the distance and all
Mobilization of equipment $500 track steer hourly rate $150x7 brush hog attachment $500. You should of been $2000-2500 estimated to make sure you were good in my opinion. Don’t sell yourself short. It hurts everyone. And can hurt you if you ran into unforeseen issues. None the less the other quotes were high.
Sounds like you are an reasonable honest biz person. I'm looking for someone to mulch cut, maybe a few trees, around the Montura Ranch Estate, Clewiston area. September probably.
People charge that much because they have a business to run. Taxes, employees, insurance, maintenance on your machines, etc the list could go on for a while. Don't sell yourself short.
He meant the radiator on top. What happened was it was real dusty and needed to be blown out and then it rain st a little bit… just enough to cake the dirt to the fins. Had to use royal purple and pressure washer to get the fins clean enough to cool
ASV or Takeuchi better cooling systems . As far as bid $ 8k -$11 k is just plain robbery but your way too cheap !! You have to make money example ; A month ago i was doing a 1000’ driveway and putting in new septic system my machine went down cost me $2600 so ya have too cover your backside don’t sellshort . This is how I would bid this job : I Truck : $150 Fuel : for truck and machine so fill up and get reimbursed by customer. Machine :$550 per day Labor: not based on time charge per day . At $1500 + when I’m land clearing, brush cutting etc. ya gotta charge more due to wear and tear and don’t forget your travel time whatever ya think your worth I charge a day rate of $1500 plus fuel .so let’s total it up . Truck $150 Machine : $550 Fuel : $400 estimated use actual Labor : $1500 Total : $2600 that’s an honest price Hope this helps you .. keep The great work !
The cat coolers are on par with the ASV. My 259 in this video was covered in dust and then it rained so it turned to a mud that coated the fins. Lesson learned. Since then I have never gotten past 210 on the coolant and 160 on hydro oil. Can’t complain about that especially since I’m running an oversized head now too. $2600 to mow a field? You should join my mastermind. I can help ya fix those issues.
So it’s hard to tell with a wide angle lens, but is the total area of the property 5 acres and you mowed a portion of that or did you mow 5 acres? I agree with most that $1000 was way too cheap but from the looks of the lengths you ran the machine straight before turning and the view, the mowed area looked like an acre which makes your pricing actually closer to being realistic. Kind of. Anyway just curious.
That’s not completely unrealistic. I’ve done .25 acre lots like that had $7000 in waste alone to haul off not including the cost of the actual clearing. You should call Lacey at (386)843-5266 and she can get you an estimate from us to compare if you want.
This video was a 2019 CAT 259D High Flow with a Diamond Mowers Brush Cutter. Currently we run a 2022 CAT 259D3 with an FAE UML/SSL175 BL but we will be adding some dedicated mulchers this year so no more skid steers.
New to the mulching game some guys in my area are charging 800 a day for basic clearing and some guys are charging 2300 to 2500 what do you think is a good rate for Florida??
Lol $800. I’m assuming you are on the west coast. There are low ballers in every industry. Never compete on price because price is never the true objection. Lack of value is. So build a good name for doing quality work and charge as much as you can ethically charge for whatever your product is. The point of work is to make the most amount of money in the least amount of time while providing the client the most amount of value for the dollars spent.
@@floridacoastlandclearing8861 if you are between $2000-$3000 per acre you are doing good. This price range allows you to profit enough after job expenses to budget in maintenance, machine replacement fund, and new knives, while also paying yourself an acceptable salary. To charge that much though you need to be producing 1 acre of heavy dense forestry mulching including any and all trees up to 8in DBH... So equipment matters. You can technically charge less if you have a big dedicated as you can produce more in a day. I have a Rayco C100 for sale which is a steel track dedicated mulcher. Hit me up on IG @andersonlandandtree
I just bid someone at $19,500 to clear an acre of commercial property, they took the bid. Granted there’s a good number of trees, I would never clear an acre for $2500 unless it’s basically mowing.
Unfortunately no, clients only shared pricing. Didn’t want any contractor drama coming from name dropping I guess. Which is understandable. They said one company was local to the Jax area.
$1000 for a 3 hour job, that took 7, two hours away each way is a turd no matter how you slice or dice it. I’m guessing you did them a favor since your going back for a bunch of removals and to dig a pond.
They were probably going to do it right the first time and take down all the dead trees. Rather than charge them to come back and do it. Why make a extra trip and wear & tear to go over the same 5ac. Which you'll end up going over everything you just done chasing the tree debris.
Lol “right the first time.” Nope. They quoted those prices to do exactly what I did. The clients are now planning exactly where they want everything to go such as barn, house, pastures, pond… each of which requires different types of clearing/dirt work. Also they are keeping some of the trees and only removing the ones that are necessary. Running over the area real quick with the mulcher isn’t going to take that long and will provide an even better piece of land. The goal is for the client to be able to maintain the land themselves and not require professional equipment.
I can see why it would appear that way, but I am really good at what I do and understanding time and materials in and what the true cost is vs what contractors “think” the price should be are two very different numbers. Mowing a thick 5 acres for $1000… it someone can’t make money doing that then they are most likely over leveraged with equipment or they don’t understand the true cost of the work and are over pricing the market. (Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.)
You’re a liar that job in Bunnell that you showed pictures of number one it was not complete , it was route rake after that picture number two The The same company did the demo . Number three the lady and her husband was very happy . Happy enough to give them more work (stump grinding ) on the lot next-door that they live . Quit lying be honest karma will get you
😂😂😂👌🏻 I’m gonna go ahead and guess that you were the contractor they hired first. Lucky for you I guess, I was to busy at the time for that project. If you do things right the first time, then customers won’t need to call in professionals. You can say whatever you want but that picture proves the job was done poorly. Brush cutters are not mulchers. Thanks for watching🤙🏻
That’s nice to find someone to be Honest on their labor.
I totally agree with you

The high quotes were the screw off prices. It could mean they didn't want the job and if they did get it then they made out.

Yes we do.

How are you doing Sir? What do I need to start my own company like yours in Florida, what kind of permits and insurance? Thank you 👍
Got a question Jeremiah, do you have to have a contractor license to do land clearing?
Not where I work. Just need your business setup correctly and correct insurance
Where do you find jobs like is there a website or an app to go to I’m looking into this business
Running ads, referrals from clients, referrals from contractors
Who were the other bids from?? Do you know?
