    I notice you take your time with your machine and not push it to hard, very smart. I know time is money but break downs is stressful and lost money. I’m looking to buy the same cutter. Appears to do a great job. I’m subscribed.

    Very interesting video , next time could you alternate the camera position from the mulcher to ground standing . 👍👍👍

    How are you liking the unit and why did you opt for a brush cutter versus a drum or disc mulcher? Obviously the price difference but do you just not have the need for a big unit or what? Thanks! Great video.

    • @idigit4967

      Great question! First, I love this unit and I am very glad I bought it. It has performed great in some demanding conditions and done things I didn't think it could do. It was also half the price of many competitor units. Price was the big reason I bought this unit, it just wasn't in my budget to get a drum mulcher when I started my business. This unit will do 90% of what a drum will do anyway with the only real difference being the size of the mulch it produces on larger material. Also, I use this unit as a bush hog for mowing and maintaining several properties. You can watch many of those vids on my channel. It works great in that capacity and a drum mulcher would not be able to mow the grass and weeds on those properties.

      IDigIt4 Fecon drums are upwards of $30k new, they have their place (John/Upstate). Yours does exactly what you need it to do, I’m assuming yours was sub $ 4000 pricing similar to a Rut. You’d have to to a whole lot of cutting to pay off a Fecon.

    Never seen anyone use a cutter like that. U waste a lot of time lifting and backing up. It can push them over and then chew them. U don't have a productive method of efficiency. Just drive forward..trees get shoved over ! The heavy guard on the front is there for a reason.

    Is that a high flow brush cutter ?? Or standard ?

      I believe he said at the start that it is primarily high flow

      mtl xct 7 is standard flow, the 8 is high flow from what ive read. I own the 7 and its definitely 18/22 gpm max

    How do you go about bidding jobs like this

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  5 років тому

      Sometimes hourly, sometimes by the acre. Depends on the client and what their goals, expectations etc are.

    • @josephcorbit6607
      @josephcorbit6607 3 роки тому

      @@idigit4967 I'f you don't mind, what is your average hourly rate for that lot. This year I will be buying pretty much your exact setup. Im not going drum mulch, want to do what you are doing with that cutter, house pads, driveways and storm cleanup here in the Florida panhandle. Great video!

    Good video. I know you probably have mulching teeth but pan caking that cutter is a waist of time and is hard on the drive spindle and bearing. The blade tip is the business end of a rotary cutter. In material 4 inches and under, lift the deck about 4 inches off the ground to create a void for the material to circulate. Then drive straight in. It will suck the material under the deck and give a really good mulch. Then back drag cut as you back up to make another pass. Much higher production. Less manipulating the cutter. Less wear and tear.

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  5 років тому +1

      Gotcha, thanks for the tip! Some the trees there were really large and when I was bottom cutting them the cores were laying on the ground and I couldn't get them to mulch well so I had to pancake some of them. I agree it is not as efficient.

    • @wpog8453
      @wpog8453 5 років тому +1

      @@idigit4967 yeah if you don't have brush or trees behind a larger tree like that to hold it up, it falls on the ground and is aggravating to mulch up. On those trees, I start at the top and drive straight in with the blade tip. It starts a splinter in the tree. Then I back up a few inches, drop the deck about a foot and drive into it again. You can block it down in 1 foot increments all the way to the ground pretty quickly and you usually don't have to back drag any of it afterwards because it's already mulched pretty good. I always use the side of the cutter that throws out away from me when I'm doing it.

    Misrepresentation. I saw nowhere in this video of any mulching of big pine trees. There was nothing mulched over 4". You need to be more aggressive with your mulcher.

    • @idigit4967
      @idigit4967  3 роки тому

      I am sorry you feel that way Bryan, I did mulch some large 6-7" pine trees out on this job, and I got the job done and the client was happy so that's all I really care about but the title wasn't meant to be misleading.
