Very refreshing to see a truly progressive instrument coming from this team. So many drum kits today are tried-and-true shell configurations with branding slapped on. Nothing wrong with the standard maple or birch shell pack, but honestly I haven't found any good reason to buy a new kit for a long time, because they really do seem the same. Mapex is really pushing things forward and I hope that the Black Panther line is a big success.

I really, really wanted the new tom holder to be awesome but it's so outlandish. Something that far out of the market should revolutionize the game, it doesn't. I hope they didn't hang their hat on this line.

You hear the difference quite easy with these new designs. Especially for the price/quantity ratio.
