Love these snares! I hope Mapex makes some aluminum snares or snares with die cast hoops next!

Just bought my 2nd Mapex snare. Very impressed with what they are putting out right now. My next kit may be. Mapex.

I like Russ very much - he's a great ambassador for Mapex. These are nice ideas for drums, no doubt, but I couldn't help but immediately think they're rivaling Tama's SLP line. They are, indeed, different drums altogether though. I think those will all do well. For my taste it's a standard Remo Ambassador on every snare drum, at least to start.

I think Russ made a mistake there, all maple cherry shell it's a contradiction. I have the first version of the cherry bomb and it's 100% cherry wood, this one it's the same wood as mapex post on their web page: mapexdrums.com/us/design-lab/

Can't wait to see what else this series brings! Have a feeling my next kit will be a Mapex.

, Basically, the 13" is the same as the previous version, minus the dark laquer plus a thicker shell.
The old one is a great sounding snare, I wonder how the thicker shell sounds like in real life.

Are these Remo heads made in the USA or Asia.

Equinox here, but prefer the Black Widow in the Mapex line.
Personally, I’d rather have the Tama SLP s, for the money.

These sound better thsn starphonics forget slp’s. Mapex stepped it up to Canpous Sonor level with their lab.

Great spiel, and presentation Russ! But, you didn't make mention of the fact that, all these snares... are made in Taiwan.
