  • I finally found time to assemble my new sawmill. I made some mistakes, but I also made some nice 2" slabs.

    Your log stops need to be on the same side as the drive wheel. Have fun with your mill 🤗

    • @GrumpyToadCreations
      @GrumpyToadCreations  Рік тому

      My problem is that's the side that I load from, and my winch post drops into the log stop holders. That's why they're flipped, but I know the blade should be cutting towards the stops. I'll probably put em back the correct way and just keep one turned for the winch.

      @@GrumpyToadCreations if you put your mill on from the other end and push the mill the opposite way, this would not be an issue from the side you load your logs. You put the mill on backwards from every other video i have seen! I just ordered my mill though, on the truck now lol

    I have watched several of these. Yours is the best and most educational one I’ve seen you are very careful with every procedure you did. Love the gas can…I have 3 of them. They are great. I’m getting a trailer with mine. Hope I can find an assembly video where they do as great a job as you have done here!👍👍❤️

      Thanks! I'm getting the trailer attachment this spring. Maybe you'll have to put up a video for me to watch 😉

    Get yourself a torque wrench. When I got mine they said snug and 2.5-3 turns. I kept throwing blades. Finally they sent me the new instructions that said what the sticker on your mill says. As far as the cover, let them know about it and their customer service should take care of it. They replaced the blades that messed up with my 126. That was two years ago. Enjoy your new mill. I love mine.

      Good call, I'm gonna pick up a torque wrench this weekend. The "turns from snug" seems unreliable.

    Looks like you have everything set up. Only two things you need is two cut logs to keep the wood elevated while waiting to cut. Also look up quarter sawn and regular sawn. One thing is if you getting in to larger logs you will have to find out where the pith is running though the log.

    • @GrumpyToadCreations
      @GrumpyToadCreations  Рік тому

      Yeah, it's a work in progress. I'll build something elevated once i get through that pile of logs. I have lots of learning to do, thanks for the advice.

    Good day, sir I just found your channel liked what I saw and I became your newest subscriber. I don’t know whether you heard me or not but I was cheering for you trying to get up that ramp I would’ve helped you, but I couldn’t make it today. If you hadn’t put off another day, I could’ve made it there to help you. I hope everything from now on goes really smooth. For you. Stay safe God bless 🇨🇦✌️

    Great job and nice set up . I have the 130 on the trailer . Watched you struggle getting the head on . And thought oh no your putting it on backwards . But you had rhyme to your reason . And I see in the comments your remedy . Subscribed . Keep up the good work . Milling is so enjoyable . As is the creating of projects .

    Hello Kevin, congrats on your mill and setup. Not sure if it makes a difference or what the manual states but every Woodland Mills sawmill I have seen cuts from the log clamp towards the log stops. Could this contribute to your log moving issue while cutting? Looking forward to your sawing adventures.

    • @GrumpyToadCreations
      @GrumpyToadCreations  Рік тому

      Yes, definitely. I did that so I could have the winch post on the far side, it sits in the same slots as the log stops. I see now it was a mistake, I'll make several changes in my next video. Thanks for your support!

    The wooden stakes I made were from dry oak. I dont think they will warp green. Your stakes are like 1.5 x1.5- 2x2 or so? You can make short or long stakes from wood. They work fine. I hate the sound of sawing metal.

      mine was on the truck a week later in Canada. So still had to ship to my house yet after that! The website will tell you the wait time when you order. IT said currently shipping mills out within a week when i ordered.

      Ha, where were you when I was putting it together! I flipped the bunks around, so it cuts towards the log stops now. Check out my Rookie Mistakes video. Thanks for watching.

  • @littlegriffoffgridalberta6837

    Good job ! I work alone too, You are a couple months ahead of me :) Mine is on its way if you want to stop by and help me put it together lol, It will be satisfying to just make your own lumber :))

    • @GrumpyToadCreations
      @GrumpyToadCreations  Рік тому

      It goes together easy, the instructions are well made. Just double-check that everything's tight. I had a couple of nuts vibrate loose. Milling lumber is super satisfying, you'll love it. The hard part is waiting for the boards to dry 😀

      @Richard Partner I think I'll leave one bunk backwards for it, then when I build a shed over the mill I'll make a winch mount on the framing.

      Yeah, I'm just gonna spin the bunks around so the stops are on the correct side. I want the mill head going in that direction. I'll get it figured out soon enough lol

  • @geneplummer6645
    @geneplummer6645 Рік тому

    bro , hate to say it but your bunks are backwards the blade will pull the wood away from the dogs

    • @GrumpyToadCreations
      @GrumpyToadCreations  Рік тому

      I rotated the bunks in a recent video, so now it cuts towards the dogs. I left one the opposite way for my winch post to slide in. It works much better now.
