    This is how to replace the water filter i a freestanding ice maker. Replacing the filter in an under counter ice maker isn't difficult. My ice maker is a Whirlpool ice maker but the same or similar procedure can likely be used to replace the water filter in other brands of ice makers too! #Howto #Icemaker

    Do you need to run the ice machine for a few hours and/or waste a few batches after the new filter is inserted?

      I typically run a few additional things of fresh water through before using but yes, dumping a few batches of ice won't hurt!

      @@IrixGuyTo remove filter, try Filter Tool Part #W10566394 . The filter will turn easily for a few degrees counterclockwise, but then gets more difficult, and will start to screw out towards you. Pliers or channellocks works just as well or better because you can pull as the filter starts to screw outwards. The old filter is disposed of, so no need to worry about damaging it with the pliers.
