I am so happy to see you covered Christine's case... that is one that has always been close to my heart.. my grandfather was one of the last people reported to see her alive... I have known this case my whole life growing up in Georgina, 10 mins from the Jessop home... she is buried 5 rows ahead of my grandparents... Its always extra hard when I go there, I always stop and pay my respects to Christine ❤❤
I'm no parent but I would think taking your 9-year-old girl to prison to see her Father is safer than leaving her home alone vulnerable and not much life knowledge. Way too young to be left alone!
@@villaindeku3457 I live in this area and lived 5 miles from the house. Times were different then, children were more independent and kids WERE watched by everyone in the neighborhood. That is what made this so scary, everyone knew everyone and Christine disappeared off the main corner of a close nit town and nobody seen a thing. As a child growing up in the country we were only expected to be home for dinner and home before dark, that all changed after Christine disappeared

I AM a parent, and I agree. My son will be 13 next month. I only leave him for very short periods, and only occasionally, at this point. And I STILL feel nervous leaving him, especially at night. **BUT** This happened in 1984. Times were different then. Hindsight is always 20/20. I'm sure Christine's mother will always regret leaving her little girl-how could she not?? But unfortunately, nothing anyone does or says now, can change what happened. And victim-shaming/victim-blaming is never cool. That family has been devastated enough. Let's all just pray/hope that her family has found some closure, and some peace. RIP Christine. Sleep peacefully, sweet little Angel.
A 16 year old doesn't just "die from natural causes" during camping unless something went horribly wrong or they had a chronic health condition. Either way, emergency services should be contacted immediately... That was so much negligence. :(
honestly, when they said that the camp leaders told the other girlscout to pack their belongings and that they started to clean up I was expecting it to be one of the camp leaders
I think by, 'natural causes', they could have meant hypothermia or exposure. Still doesn't really explain why they didn't call emergency services or send someone back to town.
Could have been an aneurysm. When I was about 18, a former classmate's younger brother (14-15) went camping with friends. He died very suddenly in their tent, no previous knownedocal conditions or anything 😔
@Stephanie Windler unfortunately some don't and some kids feel safe where they live or look through a window and see someone they know too. No matter what never opened that door 👿
@@sandrapadua2632 the thing is when it comes to you kids you don’t trust nobody . It’s better to paranoid and have nothing happen then have something happen and say I could have or should have done this differently
Yes I was thinking about that too , I know it’s was not the Mother’s fault that her wee lassie was murdered but come on now, who leaves a child alone especially at her age , surely the Mother would know if I leave my wee lassie alone then something bad might happen to her , All she had to do was get a Neighbor to watch her or just tell the wee lassie “ YOU ARE COMING WITH ME BECAUSE I AM YOUR MOTHER & ITS NOT SAFE TO LEAVE YOU ALONE “ honestly I can’t understand how anyone can hurt a woman or especially a child, I believe if someone kills a child then it’s a Automatic DEATH SENTENCE..👍🏴
Exactly! I said the same thing! Like she’s only 9!! I can’t stand when children go missing and the reason being is because the parents intentionally left them alone for whatever reason. Parents need to be questioned by police in these situations. These disappearances are definitely avoidable! I feel sad for the little girl.
Different times I was walking to and from school with my friends and eating lunch at home by myself when I was 6 in the early 80's. Believe it or not it was normal back then
It disgusts me McCurley saying he was “ saving “ Karla from her boyfriend. Was he still saving her for 36 hours and by giving her morphine??!! Such BS. I’m from Huntsville, Alabama. I’ve never heard the case covered on any other channel about Christopher. Love this channel!
As August 24th, 2021, Glen McCurley changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. Rodney (the boyfriend) stated he still feels guilt for not being able to save her, feeling as though he let her father down. Glad to see Glen will live his old ages in prison…
McCurley was a suspect during the initial investigation. The girl's boyfriend Rodney had a good look at him during the incident and gave the police a clear description (that's what the video said). So why didn't the police ask Rodney if McCurley was the guy?

Here's the problem with UA-cam: forcing people to avoid the use of the word "rape", it becomes reported as nothing more than an assault to YT viewers when, in fact, rape is a great deal more horrendous and causes lifelong damage to the survivor, _if_ they survive. Assault, by definition respective of law, is any form of attack on a living thing, be it human or otherwise. In the cases of attack on inanimate objects, it is stated as being defacement, vandalism or destruction. If you angrily cuss someone out, demean them or simply scream at them in anger, by law, it is an assault. Battery is causing bodily harm or injury and is almost always combined with assault. Rape, or the watered-down version "sexual assault" which includes "molestation", is far more egregious. It isn't a joke, it isn't simply an assault, it is a horrific and villainous act of violation of another for the point of exerting absolute dominance over another in the most brutal and devastating manner imaginable. UA-cam, in their silent demand to "soften" rape and murder by those direct terms is, essentially, denying the truth and reality of what it is and the horror of such acts. People who demand that YT make such in turn demands are the very same people who deny their involvement, passively or actively, in the continued diminutive percentage of rape survivors reporting and following through with formal charges against their rapist. _That_ is more than mere censorship, _that_ is a denial of the problem and only serves to diminish the justice that needs be served sooner than later. It follows these two statements made by others but wholly relevant to what I'm stating: silence is death; all it takes for evil to triumph is for good [people] to do nothing. For those who are wont to look at this comment and state "TL;DR", life and reality don't give a damn about your inability to have an attention span longer than a gnat's fart. Your "TL;DR" attitude is as equally destructive to the world as pollution, ignorance and hate.
@Jennifer Collins You're very welcome. My job is as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence, rape and sex trafficking. I am also a survivor of domestic violence and rape. I keep finding social media formats, which includes UA-cam, to downplay direct language regarding and direct conversation of these topics. It's also clear that companies that advertise on social media don't like direct speech, specific and unambiguous language or discussion of topics which are very real to people and which need to be addressed. I'm not clear why they want that, I'm just clear that we don't need to live in the shadows of obfuscation any longer.
As a guy who had been sexually abused when I was a kid, it also felt that the word 'assault' was being thrown around too casually; it made me question the degree to which I still feel, live with this pain. It made me feel like as if I had dramaticized the whole 'incident', and whether it had all been in my head, or if I had been inadvertently hurting myself all this time (nearly 2 decades) instead of an actual wound which had happened. I felt guilty for the pain, if this makes any sense. Thanks for bringing this up.
@@stranger2two I hope you are getting help in dealing with that past. I found that for me, nothing I could do on my own ever really addressed it. This is why I lock my doors, even when I'm just getting something from the car. It hit me that anyone could just jump in and next time it won't be an honest mistake so now the doors are locked. Always.
ive always locked my doors because of things like this. i know back in the day people wouldn't lock their cars or homes because it was a slightly friendlier time, people used to live in culdesacks and everyone in those culdesacks become friends, almost family, so they leave their doors unlocked because of it. but i always lock my car doors lol, im afraid ill fall out onto the highway so i think ill be locking it if im just sitting in there.
I accidentally got into the wrong car in a supermarket parking lot once because it was unlocked, same make and model and color as my car. I can't wrap my head around the fact that the camp counsellors waited 8 HOURS until contacting police... why would you do that? wait 8 hours with a dead body in your possession, this girl was obviously way to young for it to be normal for her to die without being killed
i guess since it was 1956, they had no phones and were probably in an area where there was no way to call the authorities until they drive to a town or city
My mom was friends with Christine when they were kids, when she told me about her case a few months ago it broke my heart to see that not many people were covering her case, it made me happy when this video came up in my feed.
I am still a little dumbfounded by the first case. The mother left a nine-year-old alone in her house for many hours. Why couldn't the kid stay with a friend or relative?
Yeah I agree. Nine year olds are not old enough to be left alone. They should've either left her with relatives or taken her with them. Its dangerous both now and then for children to be left alone especially when their parents are out of town.
It's amazing that things like skin cells under the nails and semen where collected and kept as evidence so many years before even the idea of DNA sequencing was even thought of! Just goes to show never give up hope.
I was thinking the same thing. Like what gave them the idea that its useful evidence? Im guessing the same way how brains on a wall is evidence to see where the gun was shot or the use of collecting animal hair as evidence to see where they could be. The skin cells are most likely kept because it shows that she was fighting. Or maybe they believe the future can use it because you can grow cells and see them under a microscope? Do they even know that you can grow them? Wonder what other things could be used as evidence that hasn't been discovered yet.
DNA sequencing was thought of and had been developed from the 1950s or so. I think the idea of it being a major tool in police investigations was well assumed for the future. We just had to invent faster, more reliable, and cheaper methods.
@@elephantulus You should watch code of a killer it covers the discovery of DNA by a uk scientist and the first murder case t was used in which was also in the uk.
the first time DNA evidence was used to convict a killer (in the US) was in 1987. DNA ‘fingerprinting’ has been around for a bit before then but was never used for the application of perpetrator identification. a lot of people don’t realize that the type of dna analysis that is used for forensic cases is very different than dna analysis used for other purposes.

The fact that you had to censor a word that shouldn't have to be censored says a lot about UA-cam these days. It always boggles me in such cases that they keep emphasising that they don’t know the reason the criminal committed his crime when they actually kidnapped, sexually assaulted and killed a child. It’s not rocket science really. They r just sick and twisted people who have pleasure in committing such crimes. That’s enough reason by itself.
I'm thinking the same thing rn. He kidnapped a child and did something horrible to her for his own pleasure. It's obvious why he did it... the only question is whether he targeted her specifically because she was a child, or if he was just looking for someone vulnerable and weak. But his motive? That's clear as day.
I thought they said that only for #1? And it was the one where I was wondering what the movie was because it wasn't obvious. And the killer chose not to reveal it. But I'm guessing it's over something trivial.
This is so sad I watched a video with Rodney talking about Karla and he was still cut up about the whole thing its so awful that McCurly couldn't just admit it and had to put the blame back on rodney
I'm confused about Carla's case. If her boyfriend Rodney had seen and was able to give a full description of the man who kidnapped her, why wasn't he just brought in to identify McCurley when he was first suspected? Why didn't they just do a lineup and have him identify the guy?
because he didn't gave a full description. only details, most of cloths related, you need to describe the person's face with accuracy for this kind of thing, a lot of people have those kind of descriptions, white man, tall, blue eyes, white hair...
@@Korjak I understand, but why couldn't Rodney come into the police station in person, point at the guy he saw that night, and say "that's him"? Why did they have to work off only his verbal description when he was still alive?
Late response but in another video on this case it's stated that Rodney didn't really get a good look at him, McCurley was standing close to the car so his upper body was hidden above the roofline of the car. He didn't get a very good look at him and before he passed out all he saw was Carla being taken away and the back of McCurley. McCurley also didn't fire the gun, it misfired three times before he ultimately pistol whipped Rodney and that's when the magazine fell out and onto the ground, Carla also didn't fall out of the car but was hanging down from the seat with her head near the ground. Not sure how these details got messed up as I'm pretty sure it was another EWU video i watched that went more in depth on the case
I remember when I was younger, my parents put me in Girl Scouts in hopes that I'd "become girlier". The Troop Leader never ever wanted to take the troop camping in the woods or anything, because of Peggy's case, despite us living in a different area entirely. I didn't know the details of her tragedy back then, but it puts a lot of how she handled things into perspective. When we did "go camping" it was always in either the Troop Leader's backyard or in the backyard of one of the girls. My troopmates and I would never ever be allowed to go somewhere alone. On field trips, we had to stick to the Buddy System. If we did a night hike, we were supposed to hold hands with our buddies. I was a little shit that would fuck off and do what I wanted and I'd worry the Troop Leader sick, and I feel fucking awful for it, especially now. Poor Peggy, I hope she's resting easy now, and that her family is doing well.
The first case proves what I've always thought about cops. They look for information that supports what they think or what they want to have happened and to hell with what proves actually happened.
Don’t lump millions of humans into one group in your thinking. It never works. Saying “all cops are .....” is just as stupid as saying “all Asians are .......” or “all black people are ....”. None of that works. Don’t think so generally, have some nuance, you sound like a simple minded fool.

Who the hell doesn’t call the authorities right away after finding an otherwise healthy teenager dead? Not only that, but to CLEAN UP the area around her! It’s amazing that there are actually people THAT stupid walking around on this planet. I’m surprised they’re able to put on their pants without help. I mean ffs. I’m sure her parents were beyond devastated when they found out that the adults they trusted to look after their daughter on that camping trip, just left her body in her sleeping bag for EIGHT HOURS before contacting authorities, all the while just cleaning up the camp site, destroying valuable evidence. Just…wow.
We told our daughter to never open the door when she´s alone, doesn´t matter who´s there, not even for neighbours or police. When we moved to our house, first thing our neighbour told us was that he would babysit for us if we wanted and had no one to look after the kids. That was maybe a week after we moved here. Yes this could be a kind gesture, but this rang every alarm bell with me. I would never make such an offer to people that I barely even know, to this day I´m very cautious of him and I told our kids as well. It´s kind of hard to raise your kids not to distrust anyone, but I´ll sure better be safe than sorry...
As someone who was left with people that abused (physical, verbal and sexual) me while my parents were away, I applaud you for trusting your instincts and protecting your child. My parents trusted the people who looked after me and did all that, to the point where even baby me (age 5 or 6) did not have the guts to call them out. I’m glad you protected your daughter from something like that (yes, it’s not 100% certain he would’ve done that but it’s not unheard of either).
Sometimes the police torture makes you confess. They put so much pressure on you that you have a mental breakdown. That, and they drill you hard enough until you start thinking that you might have done it. It's using psychology to get confessions. Edit: Also to mention: people confess to gain notoriety. A lot of serial killers do that. They want their name to be known. It's a bit of an arrogance thing. Attention seekers.

Yeah or they could of at least asked their neighbors or someone they knew to watch her.
@@villaindeku3457 I live in this area and lived 5 miles from the house. Times were different then, children were more independent and kids WERE watched by everyone in the neighborhood.

This happened in 1984.

What did they plan to do? Haul her to town themselves?
I think by, 'natural causes', they could have meant hypothermia or exposure. Still doesn't really explain why they didn't call emergency services or send someone back to town.
Could have been an aneurysm. When I was about 18, a former classmate's younger brother (14-15) went camping with friends. He died very suddenly in their tent, no previous knownedocal conditions or anything 😔

@@gabriellashimone6546 Your statements are very informative. I was not aware of the full definition of assault. Thank you.
Im guessing the same way how brains on a wall is evidence to see where the gun was shot or the use of collecting animal hair as evidence to see where they could be. I wish there were more people like the last person, only in the sense that they had remorse for what they had done and wished to offer what little peace a confession of such a crime can bring.
A lot of these cases are cold because police either neglected to take the case seriously in the most important time or neglected it all together. Either way it was the polices' incompetence that let these killers get away.
They were smart enough to collect semen long before they knew it could solve a crime.
@@loopthetube 🥴
Well you go solve the cases then. I see your not angry at the killers
You seem to be more angry at the law rather than the actual murderers.
Give me a break budy, what are you an antifa member?
I want to know why Jon Benet Ramsey’s case is not solved yet. If they have dna I hope they’re using the new technology to bring justice to this little girl.
Exactly
I still think her brother accidentally killed her and the family covered it up
@@christurner87 I think it was no accident. In an interview with the family back then, he didn't make the impression of a child who lost their younger sibling. Much too composed and not sad at all. He was retelling his point of view like a report. And so not to lose both children, the parents rather covered it up.
My grandfather was murdered back in 2003 and the case has been cold for years. I fear that the person who took him from me and my family is dead and gone and got away with it. 😞
Don't lose hope it's only been 18 years
I am so very sorry for your loss.💔
One thing’s for sure, the killer will not be able to escape the ultimate Judge.
Allah(SWT) will punish him dont worry. And if hes not dead then dont lose hope!

New member of EWU Crew here, one of my favorite shows is Dateline, these videos are on the same editing, informational, and narration level as Dateline... seriously they could put this on TV and have a huge audience! So glad I found this channel
I can’t have enough of crime.
Too bad there's so much of it tho.
I am new sub .... While I was already subscribed to True Crime and Little Gremlin YT came up with EWU channel videos suggestions and since then I have been watching all your videos .... Apparently you have never talked to someone who has been in prison.
@@MiracleFound I have, what does that have to do with this particular person?
@@forlanzsake it has to do with any prison, it is not a comfy life and they rarely get meds in prison unless they are in the spotlight or have connected friends or relatives.
I cant fathom why anyone would confess who didn't do it. In the 2nd story. People are insane.
For notoriety.
Or the police haven't let them sleep for days and they become suggestible/confused.
People confess to crimes for many reasons obviously because they have done it being one, pressure from cops, low intelligence. It has happened many times its nothing to do with being insane. Actually that is an answer of low intellect.
If you are interrogated for hours with no food you will confess to anything
Wow it’s incredible after all that time the people can be found and even down to a name too.The last one was a bit of a shock for the police I bet though..Great one again EWU..You always give us the best 🥰
I’m so grateful for DNA technology to help solve these mystery cases and expose the murderers.🤗 Too bad many are dead before justice for the victims could be served.😤
Its good to hear justice served after so long. Hope the families can somehow find peace. Thanks for brining these new developments to light
Much prefer this narrator! Thank you EWU crew ❤️

Its terrible what happens to an innocent man accused of terrible crimes, even though proven innocent, hes still scarred for life
And lots of people will continue thinking he’s guilty.
Just…wow.
In the first one, the cops REALLY stuffed up the original investigation... Blatant negligence..
You definitely made the right call 👍🏾 !!!!
Why do people confess to a crime they haven’t committed?
I know i was thinking the same thing...lol...i have always woundered that
Sometimes the police torture makes you confess.
Why do people wear masks? Lol

You don’t leave a 9 year old home alone. They now have to live with that mistake
I live just over an hour from Toronto Ontario and was in high school when Kristina went missing so to sit here and watch the closure to her death is such a relief. Genealogy is a true blessing for cold cases. ❤️
I grew up in Mississauga and was in my early teens when this case was big news for a long time given the age of the victim and then the botching of the case by the police department.I have never forgot that case, and I’m glad the killer was finally found. Her parents can finally know the who behind their child’s death.
I remember hearing about Christine Jessup when she went missing and I'm not even from Canada... I was only 10 years old at the time... I'm glad they finally know who killed her after all these years. Hopefully her parents can get piece of mind knowing that this monster will never hurt another child and Hopefully Christine is resting in peace 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

all of these disgusting killers go so long without being caught and then end up dying right before they finally do smh.
So, in addition to being forbidden to say 'sexual assault' you can no longer say that someone took their own life? Huh.

your saying a 9 year old is not old enough to meet her father in prison but old enough to stay hime alone? thats messed up man.. no one leaves a 9 year old home alone!
This is by far my favorite true crime channel
My aunt was murdered and never found right when I was born 38 years ago. I’ve been able to get some info from people that was around then and one women told me if I wanted to know what happen to come talk to her. I never got the chance. But I do now it was drug related and her and her friend knew to much about something and they both got killed.
I'm glad that some of these cold cases are finally getting solved and the families are finally getting answers so long awaited for.
The last time I went parking, there was some noise near the car. My date actually got out and went in search of the source. He picked up a branch for a weapon. We will never know what made the noise.
I bet your car doors were locked too. So scary that the QB bf didn't lock the doors and just watched her be dragged out...
@@SunnyDDs Oh, yes, the doors were locked. My father was an Army veteran, and did not go for leaving anything unsecured. Good training for life!
I hope all of the bereaved families managed to get some closure, when the cases involving their loved ones were finally solved. ... Incidentally, the lady who is narrating the cases, has done a wonderful and professional job in conveying the stories to us. Thank you from The UK. xx

The word suicide should never be blurred on any platform
It's mindblowing how 56 years ago, despite technology, the justice system at least had enough common sense and knowledge to preserve any fibers and DNA found on a victim. Even before probably knowing that there could eventually be such technology that would be usefull in such cases? Unless, they already knew that such technology was being examined.
🤬🤬 who leaves a goddamn 9 year old home alone..I swear they need to make people pass some kind of intelligence test in order to have kids
I was babysitting at 9
@@bjwaugh2857 same. Watching younger kids. Ppl act like it such a rare and just dumb witted thing to do. Where I’m from it’s not at all irregular to leave kids at home by themselves. Raised on “answer the door do no one”
Really? Apparently you did not grow up in the 80’s or 90’s. I was watching my 6 year old brother when i was 9. We came from a single parent home and i watched my brother after school until our mom got home from work. Usually about 2-3hrs. Never had a problem and i did that for years. Maybe parents need to teach their children how to be smart and responsible. But no, parents slap a tablet in front of their kid’s faces and no longer teach their kids any basic life skills because they are “too busy”. I do not want to hear that because i come from a single parent home and my parent worked full time( none if this welfare hand out bullshit) so “too busy” as an excuse is invalid. Its more like “too lazy” and there is way too much reliance on technology.
born in 85 and I got 3 kids under 10 years old that I would NEVER leave home alone..
The kids don’t have to answer the door for someone to come in or know that they’re alone
But just knowing that the window of opportunity for a child to be harmed/kidnapped when they’re home alone multiplies 1000% should be enough to never want them home alone..for every success story one of you has I bet there are 3 with not so great outcomes
“I did it so it’s ok”
Tell that to the first kid in this video
Great speech about technology tho

Any chance covering Wirjo, the butcher of Banjarsari? You guys should read it. Wirjo commit a murder spree with sickle and parang. Even after Wirjo hang himself after the massacre, his leg slightly move and scared the hell out of everyone present. Even in death, people fear him.

Correct me if I am wrong, but in the 2nd case of Carla, it was said that her boyfriend described and seen the perpetrator, so how was he unable to identify him when he was first investigated as a suspect??
We are taught not to stare at people. You probably couldn’t even full describe in great details someone you see every day
I wondered this too but if you search for Carla’s boyfriend speaks on trial - he explains that the killer kept his face above the car roof and just stuck his arm holding the pistol in his face, so he didn’t get a look at his face at all. Glad he was finally caught regardless!
@@RegineMLO you wouldn't recognise someone you see every day?
I see my co-workers everyday but to describe details that makes them standout no I wouldn’t be able to.
It was dark, and the boyfriend also suffered head trauma from being knocked out. He may have not gotten a good look, or had problems remembering.
