I get what you are saying about friends getting married and dissappearing. I am always willing to make a plan to hang out with friends but marriage is a commitment and a partnership. I went to school with kids/students that were gay. I worked with gay fellow employees. I lived in apartment complex with gay neighbors. I'm not gay. I'm Christian & don't support removing mother's or father's from a child's family dynamic. Was there male on male sex in the ancient/miedeval world? Of course there was. But it was not legally recognized, to my knowledge. Most often it was illegal. Even in Greco Roman areas where it was more common. It was illegal. Agustus had instituted laws against it. And many Roman aristocrat & emperors would have had young male boys as lovers. Take Hadrian for instance. But even Hadrian was married,it was just a political marriage. Even Hadrian would have never tried to legally marry his lover Antinous. The only emperor that did try was Elagabalus. And the Romans chopped him up and threw him in the Tiber. So yes it was around at all times as a sexual practice. But not as a incorporated part of the culture,to be recognized legally because they would never have done that because everything was centered around the family unit. And I'm sorry but the idea of gay families is ridiculous. And the Scandinavian peoples are one of the most pragmatic around,so I appreciate your take on this cultural phenomenon.
