What's up guys, Naniel Degreanu here and today we are gonna talk about why more rake is better. In general, more rake is not good for the game of poker. It reduces the win rate for the players and that makes it even more difficult for the players in the already difficult level of the games today. But it makes more money for PokerStars and the give me more money to say shit like "more rake is better". Hope this help to understand the rake system better.

Doug, the best moment of the video was your reflection on your personal thoughts and feelings after losing so much in PLO heads up. You're comments were really honest and ring TOTALLY true to anyone who plays poker or has had a big losing session. You look at the world around you, at normal people functioning in their normal lives, and you do feel like you're not a part of that. You nailed it. You know those people can't possibly understand what's going on in your head. Money to them isn't money to you. You just frivolously gave away more than they might make it a year or a lifetime. They couldn't possibly understand and you couldn't possibly explain it. Not sure if that all makes sense, but thanks for the great moment of honest introspection!

I really enjoyed the vid Doug. Very interesting. I'd love to see more of these. I know it might be painful, but How about going thru the hand history when you lost those millions to Isildur and show what happened? Explain what your strategy was and how he was playing, and show what you did wrong, what he did right, and how if you had a hot tub time machine, what you'd do different if you could go back and play over. I'd love to know the level of thinking you two were playing at.
Thanks and keep them coming. #WUGDPH

Very good job, Doug. I enjoy all your videos - often droll and entertaining, but with lots of very good information gained through experience. Hats off for understanding what others without that experience might not know, but should want to know if they care about the game.
You don't 'promote poker' in the sense of pushing the glamor and pretending it's easy. You give a realistic picture of what the grind is like. I know you love the game and encourage those who may be suited, but give a good indication (to those who pay attention) of what it takes. Your analysis with Pradesh(sp?), for example, is very advanced. I myself have a quality math degree and enjoy the GT aspects, but can see I may be a bit old to remember and apply all that's needed (or putting it another way, there may be less exhausting, more productive and satisfying ways for me personally to earn a living applying math skills, while continuing to enjoy the game as recreation).
Here's a '1-card poker' example that may help you in future to illustrate how the right number of bluffs can expand a minority of value winners to create a majority of pot-sized winning bets:
The game: Hero and Villian ante 1. H gets 1 card. A through T win at showdown, the rest lose there (a 5-to-8 minority). H acts first and must either fold or bet 2 more. If he bets, V must call or fold. That's it.
It's easy to calculate that if H bets 10 of the 32 loser cards in addition to his 20 winners (33% bluffs here too :-) V becomes indifferent to call or fold, and H has effectively created 30 bets which win for him (on average) his opponent's ante, vs. only 22 losers he must fold, for a win rate of 8 units each time through the deck. (And you can prove it in a bar ;-).
Ciao - keep up the good work.

    • @RVeda-vh5on
      @RVeda-vh5on 7 років тому

PS: In game above, of course showdown if V calls.
Forgot to mention: your realism about what pros can / cannot expect to earn was particularly enlightening.
PPS: I'd appreciate if you'd allow download from youTube of your content (I use video downloadhelper). I don't plan to hoard or reuse it, it just overheats my vintage cpu less to view it offline. thx.

Love the Rakes Doug,Haha... 😁 Show you skill at blending serious poker with fun and a glimmer in you eye. I have a lot of respect for your style and play. And know it take Brains and Skill to read the game as well as you do. I'm not at the skill level you are. But I can at least say this. on Playstation 4 at the game Pure Holder, I am Nr 1 at Master tournament (9 table). played 619 tournaments and won 157 (25% Win ratio). and probably 2,3rd in another 300 of the others. I love poker and knowing the game, doing the right decisions at the right time is an Ace feeling.
Keep up the good work Doug. PS : Maybe you could tell but your views on Spin N Go. A nice theme to wrap a program around. ☺

    Hi guys,
Last week i played a tournament in my local casino
    ~35 entries
    5 itm
Its a hyper turbo so the biggest stack has about 15-20bb, we are 8 handed
Im in the big blind, second biggest stack with ~12bb
    Utg, tight player shoves
Utg+1, a bit looser player snap over shoves for ~10bb
I wake up with AQo and after thinking about it for a while i fold
    Utg shows TT
Utg+1 shows 88 as the board runs ace high.
    Is my fold correct?
This hand got me thinking about it especially after 3 hands later I open shoved AQo from utg+2 and run into the Aces of the big blind
