Mazda 787B leads parade of rotary Mazda racing cars at Goodwood

- In 2015 we celebrated no only Mazda, but also the mighty, rotary-engined, 787B, the car that won Le Mans in 1991, and remained the only Japanese victor until 2018. The 787B wasn't alone, as it headed up the hill with the IMSA version - the RX-792P - as well as 787, RX-7 and more to celebrate Mazda's racing rotary heritage at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard #FOS #Mazda #rotary

Should Mazda come back to Le Mans?
Hell yeah they should
If they want to financially ruin themselves with very little impact on road car sales - hell yeah!!
Yes
Take my money but no. Keep them away.
Especially if they were allowed to run a Rotary powerplant 😀👍
Has anybody else noticed how often this car is out on the tracks? There are hundreds of videos of this car all around the world at race tracks. Mazda is super proud of that car. And they should be
The best thing about this car: After it had done the 24h, it didn't need any engine revisions at all and was ready to do another 24h immediately after, while _all_ the other cars had to head back in to get their engines completely pulled apart and worked over.
@@Flyingdutchy33 Yes, exactly, but the body (engine mount) was on the limit (read the book written by Pierre Dieudoné "NEVER GIVE UP" / The story of Mazda's racing cars). The 787B (I saw it in 1991...😉) was driven on the limit by Herbert/Gachot/Wedler (Jacky Ickx have recommended the Oreca's Team to do it in the night when they were 2nd...). So this 787B couldn't run for another 24 hours... It was a fabulous car with a symphonic engine, lots of fire in the exhaust pipe (downshifts) and the first with carbon breaks at the 24 hours of Le Mans...!
I mean they won one race in two seasons, thats 1out of 23 races..... All prototype cars are special, but this one is overhyped... This car should he as hyped as the Martini lancia lc2......
@@Flyingdutchy33 ironically everything else on the car broke down and this car was too heavy, Jacky Ickx lobbied the FIA to allow Mazda to further reduce weight beyond legal minimum, and it was still the slowest..... Won one race in two seasons, which is 1 in 23 races...... This car is overhyped.......

God, i love that car so much! There is just something about it!
MaxTheFun1995 oh yeah, beautiful paint scheme, sound, and body figure. I love it!
The sound of it, my god
The person driving the silver 792p was like
"C'mon dude!"
You get one chance to run a legendary car at Goodwood and you're putting along at 25 miles per hour like my grandma!
Guess he didn't want to run out of fuel. LoL 😂
Thumb nail looks like grand turismo
That’s where I first gained respect for this car.
FOS is basically a Gran Turismo dream
Rotary, rotary, rotary... The story of Mazda on race! 👍💯🏎️🏁🤓🇨🇵
Art in motion, thanks for this beautiful clip
Thanks for the video 🙏
the absolute FURY at 0:38
chills
That was the car behind
soo iconic
Rotary Pride🔥🔥🔥🔥
legend
Rx792cp looks sick af
I saw the orange Mazda at the Le Mans 24H museum. Not sure it's the exact same one though
No, Mazda have given one 787B to the Museum of Le Mans in 1991... It was a white and blue... They have painted it in the color of the winner's car before... (orange/green / "Charge-Renown"). Good present! The "real" is in Japan... and on Goodwood's show... 🎌😉
Why does this only have 12k views!?!?!?!?!
Gotta love the rotary engine, apart from the burnt oil.
Some of the only nice sounding rotaries that exist
The 787b may be overrated, but damn it has the best sounding engine ever made on the straights.
Why the engine sounds are so lowW????
Did you think they were going to attach a microphone to the exhausts of the cars?
Yeah it should be much louder
The only parade i accept
(I'm looking at you, pride.)
RX-792P >>> 787B
It does look amazing, btu the 787B is the one that was the winner (first Japanese car to win Le Mans I think?).
@@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE The 787B won one race in 1991 on competitor attrition and bad weather, but over the two seasons that it ran, it was not competitive in the least. The RX-792P wasn't very good either (reliability issues, too heavy), but it was noteworthy for being one of the first race cars developed with CFD and had one of the best L:D ratios at the time. From a technical standpoint, the later impresses me more.
How bout mazda mx-r01 v10 based jaguar xjr-14
@@lordmeme9965 It was a far better car than either of the Wankel powered cars. The Peugeot 905B Evo and the Toyota TS010 were the cream of the crop for that era, though.
Jesus man every video is just such a letdown hearing someone ramble over it, feels like clickbait even
The 787B is one of, if not the most overrated racecar of all time.
That depends on why you like it.
Indeed.
How dare people have opinions.
