      Not Really......maybe as a "Paved Street Queen"...but not as a "Off-Road Dirt King". I like the General Motors V8 gas engines. HOWEVER, the Chevrolet 4WD and GMC 4WD trucks are PATHETIC off-road on uneven terrain, especially in mud and snow. Both GM 4WD trucks have horrible aesthetics.....very ugly, especially the GMC...looks like it belongs in a Star Wars movie. Both Chevrolet 4WD and GMC 4WD trucks get stuck off-road way before the Ford 4WD and Dodge 4WD trucks. Why? Following is a list of several reasons ---------->
      1. IFS Axle - Poor Articulation on uneven ground
      2. Poor Approach Angle - truck is unable to ascend a steep hill
      3. Poor Departure Angle - truck is unable to descend a steep hill
      4. Poor Breakover Angle - truck gets stuck on a small knoll...ends up like a "Teeter Totter"
      5. Low Hanging Frame Rails - major cause of problem listed in Number 4
      6. Little Itty Bitty Tires - contributes to problem listed in Number 4
      7. Square / Rectangle shaped Wheel Wells for a Round Rim and Tire - the proverbial "round peg in a square hole"
      8. Requires 4 inch lift for 35 inch tires and 6 inch lift for 37 inch tires - this problem is related to Number 7
      In short, GM engineers cannot design a good 4WD truck. The GM 4WD trucks are only good for driving on dry, wet and snow packed paved roads...to get groceries and a few materials from home improvement stores.

    Love the editing of your videos, high quality!!. Look forward to seeing more of this build. 1 thing I noticed, air lift says to NOT mount that compressor upside down like that, says any orientation except upside down...

    • @rjones916
      @rjones916 3 роки тому +2

      Good catch. Our first thought was to mount it on the frame rail but unfortunately you could see the compressor at all times. The reason they recommend that is due to the weight of the setup and people using self tapping screws that can’t support that weight. We made sure to nut and bolt and provide extra security to the components.

    Nice work! I have a question what’s better the 4 inch lift or torsión keys? I’m planning in getting King shocks....please I’d greatly appreciate your professional opinion

      4” for sure because it takes into account dropping all the driveline angles/ball joints/tie rods for the best ride and stock longevity. Torsion keys are perfectly fine matched with a set of Upper control arms but only can get around 2” out of them safely before the ride decreases dramatically.

    So I have the same truck. I have 50k miles on it and would like a slightly softer ride than the factory rancho shocks that come stock. Do these fox shocks ride stiffer or softer than the factory rancho's? Some say that the fox 2.0's are stiffer and some say that they are softer. What is your opinion?

    • @RJ-mq9th
      @RJ-mq9th 3 роки тому

      I would say Fox eat up bumps and dips in the road night and day compared to Rancho. Fox, Bilstein, Icon and other 2.0" shocks in that category are more aggressively valved compared to Rancho I.E make it harder for the shock fluid to be pressed up and down. Some would say they are stiffer/harsher in daily driving, smooth roads but absorb bumps way better so in our opinion at No Limit, we recommend Fox all day everyday and twice on Sunday! Go with the non Resi 2.0 ones for the best daily ride. If leveled Upper control arms and making sure the keys arent cranked too much make a huge difference as well.

      @@RJ-mq9th Ok I don't ever take my truck offroad. Paved local and highway driving only for me. So I am going to level the truck eventually and my installer did say that I had to replace the upper control arms too. So It looks like non resi Fox 2.0 are gonna be the next shock for my truck to give it a more comfortable ride from your advice. Thanks for the input. If I were close to you I'd bring it to your shop.

    Loved the video! But where can I find the spacers for the airlift?

    • @Benitoloya
      @Benitoloya 3 роки тому

      And what airlift did you use?

    • @nolimitbaltimore
      @nolimitbaltimore  3 роки тому +1

      You can find the spacers through Air Lift Company, as well as the system we used for this truck. The AirLift was the LoadLifter 5,000 with a DayStar cradle to support the suspension

    First Time Viewer. Great Video! Cognito is a great lift for the GM 4WD trucks with IFS Axle. Like the General Motors V8 gas engines, but do not like the IFS Axle 4WD trucks.
    @ 9:28 Deaver does not make a rear leaf spring pack for Chevrolet 4WD and GMC 4WD trucks??? Dang.....guess Deaver is too busy making those for Carli Suspension.....for the Ford 4WD and Dodge 4WD trucks.
    @ 11:08 "last piece of the puzzle"......EXCELLENT IDEA to maintain "good articulation and wheel travel"...... you used a Daystar spacer as a cradle (bottom cup) for the Air Lift 5000 bag. How did you mount the Daystar spacer?
    Saw another UA-cam video showing a Ford F250 Super Duty with air bags. The cradle / cup was welded to the block tang so the air bag was not limited.....allowed the most articulation and wheel travel in the rear suspension.
    Now I am wondering how this could be accomplished on a Ford Super Duty equipped with the Deaver rear leaf spring packs. The Carli Suspension makes the Ford Super Duty with the Fox 2.0 reservoir shocks ride as good as...or the King 2.5 shocks ride better than a Chevrolet 4WD or GMC 4WD truck.

    • @RJ-mq9th
      @RJ-mq9th 2 роки тому

      At the time Deaver wouldn't sell us leaf springs because they had yet to fit any on the updated GM HD trucks. To mount the daystar cradle to the airlift setup, I just drilled one locating hole in the middle of the lower bracket and used the provided hardware. Super Duties with the Carli setup ride like a dream, no doubt! We prefer and recommend the Backcountry Carli setups.
