What this is about without spoiler: I would say it is BOTH evil and sadness while also trying to convey hopelessness on a grand scale. The face you see was shock to everyone watching where it was pretty unusual and telling you the details would spoil you, but you just expecierenced the same thing we did really. This music happens during the show and it blends perfectly with what is happening on screen to the point you can't focus on just the music even tho it's this epic. As fans of AoT, as we listen this music I'm pretty sure we all remember the scenes running in our heads which shows how perfectly they made the action and music become a one piece :)
SPOILER it can also be attributed to the conflicting feeling of the rumbling, you want paradis to live, but you don't want to see innocents dying. especially when you stay neutral about choosing a side, because the only thing you see is tragedy after tragedy, and you can only hope for the best

I got shivers especially at the part they used in s4 part 2 trailer because at that time we didn't get the full version and I just connected the dots, haha → 8:06

So depending on which side you are on, the face at the end is either the embodiement of evil and destruction, a force that needs to be stopped at all cost. Or it is the face of the saviour of the world, the face of god and maker of peace. To quote an important character: "the only truth in this world is that there is no truth"
I've always thought this song reeked of despair the moment I first heard it! The absolute surrendering of the self to unescapable helplessness. The accepting of one's fate and the doom that hovers over everyone at that moment. As a music person and an anime enthusiast, I absolutely love it! Also loving your reviews man. He did alot of great soundtrack for the Final Season like "Splinter Wolf" and many others that I can't remember their names at the moment, but those three are his best in my opinion. Also, the picture at the end is The Villian to some people, The Hero to others, and a Shakespearean tragic character to few.

I love the whole soundtrack for the four seasons, but there's something with this track and The other side of the sea that I love . Maybe that pause before the final stretch, almost like "I know you're overwhelmed, just a little more and it's done" haha. I'm not sure if I mentioned it in previous comments but thank you for take your time to pause and then rewind a few seconds. I love music and for me that is a must but I don't see many youtubers doing it. And finally, I don't know if someone's told you this already, but you don't need to be an "anime-freak" to enjoy this show. You don't even need to have watched anime before. BUT (and this is a big but in my opinion), the first season, aired almost ten years ago, is hardly representative of how big this story is. Of course, in retrospective it is because every thing that happened has a meaning and a reason, but if you decide to give it a chance, even for yourself and not for the channel, have that in mind because if you start it with the "IT'S THE BEST SHOW EVER WRITTEN" as the only reference, maybe you could feel underwhelmed at first because it seems just a regular show with interesting things here and there.

I have listened to these two pieces by Kohta Yamamoto: this one you are reviewing and Ashes on Fires and in both pieces I can somewhat trace parts similar to those of soundtracks from Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy respectively and both movies have their ost composed by Hans Zimmer. I guess it is fair to say Zimmer has a sizeable influence on Yamamoto?

I had a hard time sleeping that night and I’m not even kidding. The imagery along with the music… horrifying sights and absolutely insane story turning point… one word: Incredible.

I have listened to these two pieces by Kohta Yamamoto: this one you are reviewing and Ashes on Fires and in both pieces I can somewhat trace parts similar to those of soundtracks from Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy respectively and both movies have their ost composed by Hans Zimmer. I guess it is fair to say Zimmer has a sizeable influence on Yamamoto?
