I’ve had the V&H fitted from new (2016) - they sound very nice. They do get better with age as well, people do notice you and it’s an aural delight for the rider too!
MOTOBOB Hmmmmm, not yet. I might not bother until I search for more power with the revised camshaft etc. If you go to the Bike Shed, Dutch removed it from his Thruxton. It did seem to make a noise difference. He reckoned you just had to sit it at idle for 15 minutes for the ECU to adapt.
Awesome sound! Very nice job recording it as well, I wish all exhaust vids where recorded this good. They also look great, even better then the already good looking stock cans.
It does sound better but I don’t think it sounds better enough to be worth the investment. Perhaps it’s just the recording that doesn’t make justice to the actual sound. Again, great video! Keep it up!
Cheers WP - yeah there’s nothing wrong with the stock pipes at all, but in the flesh these do sound quite a bit better to my ear. It’s all personal preference tho!
Smashing sound MB....very mellow and not too loud. I had V&H 'Black Widows' on a HD Sportster XR1200X which were really anti-social and tiring at constant high speeds. Needed well fitting ear plugs! These Triumph V&H mufflers sound superb I must say. Keep that thumb hovering over the horn button though ! A short beep can save your life! Its a standard routine practice for Police riders and really worth doing .......
The exhaust sounds way better now! Also liked the video editing and audio recording. You talking to the camera, got that motorcycle magazine review style. If you know what I mean 😀 But I like it, gives the video that little extra! So good job! Cheers!
Sounds great. I’ve tried recording the sound of my Street Twin, especially in my garage where it sounds really good but honestly it’s never as good as what you actually hear in person. I personally love the stock sound of my bike which makes my wife happy because it saves $$$ Spring almost here in Indiana. Want to ride already. Keep up the good work. Really like how it’s coming along. Do you have any contact with Tony from Views from the ManCave. I’ve used a bunch of his ideas. Wish I could show you my Street Twin. Little changes but enough to make it Mine. Take Care
Cheers Marc. Yes the stock pipe sounds brilliant I agree, and it’s worth saving the money if you like it. For me the main thing was getting a bit of a volume increase as the traffic can be really busy in London. There’s a really noticeable difference in how many fewer near misses you have when you fit a louder exhaust. Yeah Tony commented on my Instagram. His videos are great - I’ve watched back most of his street twin vids for ideas. Why not post up a quick walk around video of your bike? Just take it on your phone. You don’t need to put a lot into editing the video or talking. As long as the bike is outside so that the light is good!
Ah nice sound on my old Trumpet I have the Italian QD pipes which make it to 97Db but on the highway they blasts your ears of you don’t even hear the wind anymore but in normal city traffic they can be actually really pretty silent
I have a Harley sportster 1200 with Vance and Hines short shots on. I have NO IDEA how they pass the MOT as they are so loud you can't actually even talk within 10 feet of them when running. Harley seem to make their own rules..........and parts price lists.......... Love the pipes mate, bike looks mint. Ride safe.
MOTOBOB sorry I wasn't clear, it is Harley who do the MOT's, they pass anything. I have literally no idea how they do. I'm 100% sure if I took it to the local bike shop he would laugh me out of the shop. I mean these pipes are fucking offensively loud, I mean I wanted loud pipes but these things take the piss 😂😂😂
@motobob What did you use as replacement side panels on the bike? They look like a "Thruxton" reference...much better than stock. Did you make or buy them?
2017 models seem to have them, but 2016 don’t. I guess it’s to stop your heel buffing up the plastic sprocket cover? But to be honest I prefer how it looks without...
Sounds nice, but could still do with another 20db on top; still far too quiet IMHO. What are you doing on Sat 24th Mar? Going to (The Cronicles of) Mr Fish’s Motovlogger meet up @ Ryka’s Cafe? If the weather is fine, I’m riding down from North Yorkshire... Hope to meet as many Vloggers as I can 👍🏻
Might do the decat at some point which would definitely take it up a notch, but at the same time I like that it’s loud but not so loud I need earplugs. They’re a bit of a faff when you’re just nipping around town. Got no plans that day so I might head there - thanks for the tip. No promises tho as I tend to spend my weekends with the family. That’s gonna be a hell of a ride for you!
Honestly it makes a huge difference. People are way less likely to pull out of a junction in front of you if they can hear you coming. I used to have so many near misses on my last bike with the stock exhaust!
My commute into London is done on a basic Honda CBF500 but after seeing you're Delkavic exhaust review I might get one put on. Its relatively cheap for an exhaust and it looks like it has good quality welds.
Not decided yet. With the cat still in it’s loud but not crazy loud so I don’t need earplugs. Also when the mrs starts riding pillion again she might appreciate it still having the cat. I think if you’re riding open roads a lot you can go quite a lot louder, but when you’re between traffic and buildings a lot of the sound bounces back, especially the bass
When it was on the floor it was the sound recorder, but on the bike I clipped the lav mic onto the seat strap cos it has a decent wind jammer on it, unlike the built in mic on the sound recorder (although I think you can buy them...)
Are you still using the Tascam recorder and the Sony ECM-CS3 mic? Yeah I noticed the windjammer when it was clipped on your top. Did that come with the mic?
Yeah that’s the combo. I had to buy the windjammer on amazon. It’s a wide mic because it’s stereo so it was tricky to find one that fits - this one just about fits over
They’re definitely lighter but I didn’t weigh them for the exact difference. It’s not a light bike but 230kg isn’t too bad in traffic as it’s nicely balanced and the seat is pretty low
What do you reckon about heated grips from TRIUMPH? I have a 2018 Triumph Bobber Black for 2 months now and I'm customizing it. Was thinking of heated grips but they're wicked expensive so I don't know if it's worth it. I ride every single day minus a day with heavy rain or if it snows in the winter.
Have you thought about heated gloves instead? I’m not sure they would be cheaper but they’re obviously easier to fit and apparently more effective in really cold weather. Also you can take them with you if you get a different bike
MOTOBOB I did think of that but I just don't know which brand is the best and how long it will last. I know you live in the U.K. so I'd rather ask you guys what you use when you ride because you ride in cold weather most of the year, right? I'm in the state of Pennsylvania.
I’m in the city so I don’t really get up to more than 30-40mph for more than a few minutes and I rarely take long trips in the winter on faster roads. So I just use regular winter gloves. But many of the youtubers that I follow who ride in cold weather like cyclecruza day that the heated gloves work best
Well i'll be... A Vance & Hines product that actually lets you hear what you think! Didn't know they existed. Granted i have only had two V&H equipped bikes (Suzuki Volusia 800 and Kawa VN900) but the long shots on the Suzuki became tolerable after adding Smart Partz quiet baffles and the Kwacker couldn't be tamed down to a level i could live with so i sold them :-/ These Triumph ones are great sounding!
@@motobob Yeah, those were both complete systems from cylinder head to tailpipe. I have noticed that most "custom v-twin" exhaust tend to wake the dead. Guess it's a wannabe Harley drag pipe thing, only smaller displacement custom bikes never achieve the "potato potato" Harley rumble but instead become like wee dogs barking - mostly annoying :)
I would never had paid the full price for the Vance and Hines. It adds nothing to the riding capabilities of the bike. I would firstly sort out the suspension and the brakes. And by the way your hat on the wrong way round looks naff.
Cassandra One Think you missed the point Cassandra, he paid £250, and I recently picked up a pair on eBay for £160. They sound amazing. I do agree that fitting Ohlins front and rear would be a big improvement and this is my next step.
Yep, an absolute bargain. Arrived in original v and h boxes too, with the only downside being that the circlip and baffles were not included. The sound is much better than i expected as it is a "mellow bellow" rather than just loud. it gives the bike the right road presence.
Your Street Twin is exactly what I want, down to the paint job. What a beauty!
Thanks mate. Got quite a few more changes planned still!
I’ve had the V&H fitted from new (2016) - they sound very nice. They do get better with age as well, people do notice you and it’s an aural delight for the rider too!
You bothered to remove the catalyser?
MOTOBOB Hmmmmm, not yet. I might not bother until I search for more power with the revised camshaft etc. If you go to the Bike Shed, Dutch removed it from his Thruxton. It did seem to make a noise difference. He reckoned you just had to sit it at idle for 15 minutes for the ECU to adapt.
Yeh I saw their vid. Might do it at some point but it’s pretty loud as it is and I prefer not to have to use earplugs for just riding around town
Have you visited TEC bike parts? They do a few bits for the Street Twin, suspension etc.
MOTOBOB Have you tried TEC Bike Parts? They have a few bits for the Street Twin, suspension etc.
Yes much better a proper Triumph sound now, pretty bike too💜
Awesome sound! Very nice job recording it as well, I wish all exhaust vids where recorded this good. They also look great, even better then the already good looking stock cans.
Cheers RVG! Worth putting in a bit of effort to get some good audio as that’s what people watch the exhaust vids for
Ronald Van Gulden yes it is. I have similar video if you want to check it out. It's with stock exhaust.
ua-cam.com/video/324UGZTS9Jc/v-deo.html
It does sound better but I don’t think it sounds better enough to be worth the investment. Perhaps it’s just the recording that doesn’t make justice to the actual sound. Again, great video! Keep it up!
Cheers WP - yeah there’s nothing wrong with the stock pipes at all, but in the flesh these do sound quite a bit better to my ear. It’s all personal preference tho!
MOTOBOB Does the brake suck?
The new exhaust sounds lovely.
Cheers Eric!

I love that 270 crank parallel twin!! dream bike!
in my humble opinion this is the best choise!
Very good motobob !
Cheers Marius! 🍻👍🤘
The exhaust sounds way better now! Also liked the video editing and audio recording. You talking to the camera, got that motorcycle magazine review style. If you know what I mean 😀 But I like it, gives the video that little extra! So good job! Cheers!
Loving the bike. £500 for V&H is pricey, £250 was a steal. Dare I say, a tail tidy would be nice. Looking forward to the next episode. Cheers!
Cheers Colin - yes! Tail tidy is probably the next vid 🤘
Just watched this again as I'm demo'ing a Street Twin this week. No mirrors??
Sounds great. I’ve tried recording the sound of my Street Twin, especially in my garage where it sounds really good but honestly it’s never as good as what you actually hear in person. I personally love the stock sound of my bike which makes my wife happy because it saves $$$

Not seen QD before but they look pretty awesome on their website. Lovely styling. Is it all one piece with he headers rather than a slip on?
I have a Harley sportster 1200 with Vance and Hines short shots on. I have NO IDEA how they pass the MOT as they are so loud you can't actually even talk within 10 feet of them when running. Harley seem to make their own rules..........and parts price lists..........
Love the pipes mate, bike looks mint. Ride safe.
I guess it depends who tests it. Some of the MOT blokes are sound and just want to talk about bikes. Does the short shot remove the catalyser then?
MOTOBOB sorry I wasn't clear, it is Harley who do the MOT's, they pass anything. I have literally no idea how they do. I'm 100% sure if I took it to the local bike shop he would laugh me out of the shop. I mean these pipes are fucking offensively loud, I mean I wanted loud pipes but these things take the piss 😂😂😂
Hahah ok I get you now. I guess it wouldn’t be in their interests to fail bikes with loud pipes as that’s the whole point of a Harley...
So much better. Good work fella
Yeah they look and sound great but dont forget you can use the horn to warn people of your presence. Extra decibel ones are available. Nice bike.
Fair point splodge but I often find the horn rubs people up the wrong way, whereas the exhaust they hear you before you’ve even got there
MOTOBOB agree but a loud horn sure gets the peds jumping out of their pants.
True. Forgot about the peds! Horn ain’t too bad on the street twin tbh. Better than the one on my ER6 I think...
5:43 My close caption says: [music]
Has such a unique sound to it mate 👍
Cheers - definitely more distinctive than the stock 👌
Wow. They sound AMAZING. I've heard Termignoni exhausts on Street Twins and they sound amazing as well! They're a bit pricey though.
Yeah I saw those too - they’re 2 into 1 right? Really cool but I couldn’t resist these at the price
I love that sound!
@motobob What did you use as replacement side panels on the bike? They look like a "Thruxton" reference...much better than stock. Did you make or buy them?
MOTOBOB , do you want my Triumph street twin tail tidy and the LED mini Indicators ... selling my ST for a Speed Twin
Thanks for the offer but I’m good thanks. I’ve got the NRC tidy 👍
While watching your V&H review I noticed the small silver plate where your right ankle would be when foot on peg. My ST does not have this, any info?
2017 models seem to have them, but 2016 don’t. I guess it’s to stop your heel buffing up the plastic sprocket cover? But to be honest I prefer how it looks without...
Great ! What's your opinion for Zard slip on silencers for this bike ?
Thinking hard about trading my 2013 Honda cb1100 for one of these at the end of the year. Love that sound, I could get used to that.
Hey, where can I get the US spec ones from in the UK? Are the baffles actually not removable in the EU ones? I have a 2020 Street Twin. Thanks!

Do you feel the bike stronger than it does with the stock exhaust?
Are stainless steel downpipes available, as the originals look very tarnished,
sounds so good! great job!
Cheers Theo. Sounds waayyyyy better 🤘
Is there a possibility to reorder one of those exact removable baffles? I lost one of mine while riding. Thanks for your help!
How do you find it riding around in London and commuting? Do you find the exhausts make a difference when filtering?
Honestly it makes a huge difference. People are way less likely to pull out of a junction in front of you if they can hear you coming. I used to have so many near misses on my last bike with the stock exhaust!
My commute into London is done on a basic Honda CBF500 but after seeing you're Delkavic exhaust review I might get one put on. Its relatively cheap for an exhaust and it looks like it has good quality welds.
Yeah they’re great value for money and again good to have the option of the baffle in or out
Have admit, it does sound nice. Look forward to your next mods.
Cheers LA! 🍻👍
Sounds good, are you planning to decat it?
Not decided yet. With the cat still in it’s loud but not crazy loud so I don’t need earplugs. Also when the mrs starts riding pillion again she might appreciate it still having the cat. I think if you’re riding open roads a lot you can go quite a lot louder, but when you’re between traffic and buildings a lot of the sound bounces back, especially the bass
MOTOBOB That makes sense and from what I’ve seen it’s a bit of a fiddle to change it over.
They sound beefier :P Was that just the recorder in your pocket or did you have an external mic plugged into it too? Sound quality was great :D
When it was on the floor it was the sound recorder, but on the bike I clipped the lav mic onto the seat strap cos it has a decent wind jammer on it, unlike the built in mic on the sound recorder (although I think you can buy them...)

Can you link those gloves?
MOTOBOB - Are the Vance & Hines cans lighter than the stock ones ? The twin is 230KGs fuelled. Do you find the weight ok with the traffic in London ?
They’re definitely lighter but I didn’t weigh them for the exact difference. It’s not a light bike but 230kg isn’t too bad in traffic as it’s nicely balanced and the seat is pretty low
Your city is beautiful. Where are you from?

MOTOBOB Okay, thanks for that.
Cyclecruza. I'll check it out.
is this sound with or without baffles?
Good review, clean sound. thanks.
My pleasure! 👍
Sounds fabulous
Cheers DH! 🍻
What model number is it??
SPECTACULAR BIKE AND GREAT VIDEO...THANK U!!!
Cheers AN 🍻

Did those remote the catalyser? I guess that might be the difference - with it still in place on the triumph it keeps things at a sensible level
@@motobob Yeah, those were both complete systems from cylinder head to tailpipe. I have noticed that most "custom v-twin" exhaust tend to wake the dead. Music to my ears lucky you...cool channel great bike!!!
Thanks Colin! Appreciate it
triumph and harley are best....god bless them
Love that sound, not too obtrusive, just a nice deep tone. Great purchase mate. ;-)
Cheers IR
Great unique, looks and sounds fantastic. 👍🏽
Cheers Danilo! 🤘
No aggression to that sound sadly. I was hopi g to really hear a cool sound with some pops
Sounds better than a Duke ..
I would never had paid the full price for the Vance and Hines. It adds nothing to the riding capabilities of the bike. I would firstly sort out the suspension and the brakes. And by the way your hat on the wrong way round looks naff.
Oh dear bad day? 😂
MOTOBOB you would have a bad day too if your name was Cassandra. Pity her.

7 min 40 de vidéo et le gars ne ferment pas sa gueule pendant 5 min. Super intéressant pour une vidéo qui présente juste des pots...
