Nothing against Ozzie he's amazing and all his guitar players are legitimate but honestly George Lynch is just plain bigger than that box in the same way that Zakk Wylde turned out to be bigger than that box as well.
I'm glad George lost the gig. Ozzy and Sharon screwed Jake so bad, that he lost his desire to create and perform music. He tried once more with Badlands, but after the whole fiasco with the singer, Jake just exiled himself from the entire music industry for decades, until just a few short years ago. Meanwhile, George has put out like 50 albums, so it looked like it worked out. For George, anyway.
Machu Pikachu Me too. The whole LA Metal scene was just about to explode. The old guard from the 70s (Dana Strum, Blackie Lawless, George Lynch, Kevin Dubrow & QR, etc.) were barely hanging on. Dana Strum created the Randy Rhoads audition which saved Ozzy from extinction and gave him a new sound, which opened the doors for Quiet Riot. In 1983, Def Leppard Pyromania kicked the doors open, then Metal Health & "Cum On Feel The Noize" blew the doors of their hinges. Ozzy was nothing but a drunk in those days. He fell into resurrection by dating Don Arden's well-connected, well-funded daughter and by listening to Dana. Sharon was a Jet Set trust fund baby who rebelled against her dad while manipulating his industry clout. It was a huge lottery win
this is a test drive of 1 of the many amps we ran through. Its not an endorsement video. We have lots of other amps George ran through that we will post videos of in the next few weeks
Friedman really peaked my interest of all the amps out there because it took what Marshall did best and improved, twisted, and updated it with new ideas. They are expensive as hell though but you can tell it has potential.
I'm hearing a lot of good things about those Friedman amps. They do a great job mimicking those classic Marshall tones, and I imagine they don't cost nearly as much. The gain knob cranked generates a great rhythm tone in the style of 70's-era Kiss, AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat, etc. All you need is a pedal boost for leads, and you're set!
He sounds so much better without the delay I think it’s overkill I think it covers up what he’s actually doing this is probably the purest I’ve heard him 👍 The amp les Paul combo is mean on this demo
George is perhaps in my opinion, the greatest #2 ROCK guitarist ever. #1 being Mr. Randy Rhoads of course. Randy even knew the magic and talent of George, that,s why George taught at his mothers school of music. RIP Randy you are missed very much indeed.
I read an old guitar world interview where randy called evh all smoke and mirrors. Also said that lynch was the guy in those days that intimidated him as a player. These three guys were all house bands in the la scene at the same time and i feel like it was evh only because he got the first big time record deal. Any one of the could've been the g.o.a.t. had it been them instead. All way ahead of their time and changed heavy guitar forever.
I was thinking about this earlier today. I love Randy's playing but Jake E Lee I find is one of my fav's along with Warren D Martini and George Lynch. EVH was mind blowing but all these guys were about right on the same level with Randy and Eddie. Great guitarists. All equal and different. No best really. It's subjective.
Where can I get an amp rack that is used in this video? I have many amps that I would like setup up ready to change out on the fly into a single cabinet. I guess you would need a multi load box? Great video of the Dirty Shirley, George is always so humble!
Dangerous Guitar - Do you have all those amps on a load switching system or do you do the switching manually. What is the msrp of the Dirty Shirley? Thanks for your replies.
I appologize George. Before I purchased the Dirty Shirley I said you were wrong calling it a one trick pony that does one thing very well. Now that I have it I have to agree with you. It is a great amp but it really is a one trick pony for the most part. I also own the BE 100 which is actually more versitile. Both are great amps. Thanks George, you rock and sorry again for my original BS.
Can anyone who owns a Friedman amp tell me what is their general reason for existing? I just want to understand why would you buy basic Marshall clones with more saturation built in? What does that accomplish that just sticking a boost or overdrive into the front end of a lower gain more stock amp? Seems to me you can achieve more variety of tones with all the different flavors of pedals out there?
This is a different amp when playing humbuckers through it. It's definitely not a one trick pony. One of the most brilliant amps made, and with the new Twin Sister version? OMG!
There's only one MR SCARY,, freaking living Rock guitar legend,,, thanks for all the years of inspiration,, which l probably only got probably 4% give me another decade l might improve to 8%,,lol love this dude playin style so unique n that 80s tone he had
I am surprised he called it a one trick pony. I think the tone changes quite a bit depending on the gain switch setting (granted, the amp in this video doesn't have a gain switch), the high or low input, and the relative level of the master volume versus the gain knob. You can get a nice punchy clean by cranking the master and plugging into the low input with the gain switch on the high setting. You can get very nice pristine clean doing the same with the gain switch on low. Also, you can get all different levels of crunch and they all sound good. You can get different levels of looseness/tightness depending on the gain switch setting as well (looser in the low gain setting and vice versa). I don't know. George is cool but I don't know if he did the amp justice. Of course, he probably has many more amps than I will ever try playing through, so maybe the clean and crunch sounds of the DS40 suck for him.
Straight up and honest. You know what you're getting. Honestly, I love the fact you can really tell (with your eys closed) when he's playing a Paul or a Strat because the amp stays out of the way.
As long as it's a good trick, that's what I want. Amps that do 100 mediocre tones or 1 killer tone...I know what I'm picking. That said, this amp does nothing for me.
Well then all the sounds are the same to me and sound like shit in this demo.. I wouldn't be running out to buy one of these if this is what I thought it did.
This is not a good representation of what this amp sounds like. Every DS I’ve played sounded much more clear. As others have stated I think it was recorded poorly (bad mic choice or pre gain). Not a horrible tone, sounded like a Tweed more then a Plexi but blind folded I would never guess this is a Friedman or even a Marshall style amp.
I'll stick with my Axe fx....love Friedman amps, but 3 to 4k is high for just a base amp. You will need a drive pedal in front of the amp, and delay, chorus and reverb pedals
crusTodd if you weren’t so friggin jealous and worked your way up to one when you’re better at playing, you’d see they’re the best amps ever. Like the smallbox or especially the smallbox limited. Only in person after you try it and if u can play well, then get back to us. Otherwise 🤐
I wasn't raggin' on Friedman. They're fine amps, like many other current boutique amps available..THIS however wasn't a good example of their tone. Greg Koch, for instance, got a better example of the available tone than GL did, unfortunately. You're being a little thin-skinned about not being praised over this example.
crusTodd well then you’ve seen a better demo so why pick on this one knowing full well it’s not accurate? Really tbh at the end of the day I really don’t care what anybody thinks but myself. I have really serious issues going on that I need to focus on. Was just trying to take my mind off of some scary shit that’s going on. Sorry if I offended you.
No offense taken. I've been listening to GL, Yngwie, Satch, Vai, etc...for 30+ years. I've met GL and had dinner with him. Nice, intelligent guy. I have a theory though, that many of these players are suffering hearing decline. GL and YJM in particular have gotten really shrill in their tones and just kinda' sloppy. They don't have to play fast anymore and there's MANY great players who aren't "shredders". This just wasn't s good example of what this amp can do, NOR what GL can do. On your situation, I'll pray for you to have peace and be safe. GOD ALMIGHTY bless you. T~
There's a high end "fuzz" in this amp that's not very appealing. The lows are not very tight either. Perhaps its the fact the gain was set on 10? I would think a better tone would come from backing off the gain and upping the volume. Love the Randall shirt!
Holy shit as soon as he strummed that A chord with the Les Paul, BOOM! Candy to my ears.
George is the OG, would love to see him do more of this. Love that he's wearing a Randall shirt while doing this.
we will be uploading more amp test drives over the next few weeks that we did with george
Dangerous Guitar still waiting for it
@@DangerousGuitarCom upload those yet?
Real guitar people know George is fuckin awesome
He's my favorite player ever. In his prime no one could touch him.
Ozzy f'ed up when he passed on George in '82
Things work out for a reason. That's why he chose Jake E Lee instead. George was not a good fit for the band with his style.
Nothing against Ozzie he's amazing and all his guitar players are legitimate but honestly George Lynch is just plain bigger than that box in the same way that Zakk Wylde turned out to be bigger than that box as well.
George was lazy and Jake was ready so Ozzy chose for the man that there at the right moment!
The funny thing is he presenting a Friedman wearing a Randall T shirt.
João Pacheco i thought that to be strange as well. I did some research to see if the 2 companies had any affiliation and it doesnt seem that they do.
Esp endorser ,Randall amp shirt , playing a Gibson and Fender couldn't be more wrong .
this is a test drive of 1 of the many amps we ran through. Its not an endorsement video. We have lots of other amps George ran through that we will post videos of in the next few weeks
@@pwi9161 It is not a Friedman endorsement. It is one of the manu amp test drives we filmed George doing with various makes amd models
Better Friedman presenting georges guitars.george is the better Guitarrist.
One of the most underrated guitarists of all time.
Hugh Jass especially considering he is the only big dog that just keeps improving over the years.
How is he underrated? He's been at the forefront with guitarists since the eighties.
Another noob comment. What a weasel.
Underrated? ROFLMFAO!
Lol...hardly underrated....he gets all the props and it's well deserved
Interesting video. Love the Randall shirt, while demo'ing the Friedman. That's trolling at it's best. lol
The Strat sounds awesome through it.
Fantastic!!! George is the man!!!
Never thought I'd see George Lynch playing a guitar other than a Superstrat variant, with no chorus/phaser. That Les Paul sounds wicked.
That amp sounds incredible
Always nice to see George trying out gear. Cool dude.
Friedman really peaked my interest of all the amps out there because it took what Marshall did best and improved, twisted, and updated it with new ideas. They are expensive as hell though but you can tell it has potential.
Sounds great. Rock it Lynch!!
That strat sounds amazing
George Lynch. Amazing tone and technique!!!! Lynch rocks!!!!
This might be the first time I've ever seen him play a Les Paul and I've been a fan since 1982...
R&R at it's heart, thanks George.
Thats a great sounding amp. Kind of reminds me of a Trainwreck amp. Pure unadulterated tone with cascading, controlled gain. Beautiful.
Yeah.... that’s the sound for my ears. Glad to have the Synergy module
I like George on Gibson and Strato guitars sounds cool and killer 🤟🏼
George Lynch needs to be making more content. Sochi a great guitarist who’s always playing on the edge.
I’m pretty sure George could make a Hello Kitty guitar & amp wail!!!
Just so damn good.
That Wizard looks awesome too
Sounds killer!!
I mod my Plexis and JCM800s to sound woolly, snarky, warm yet with shimmering mids and highs.
That is dirty too I love the sound it has, crackly sounding.
The man can play - that’s for sure 😜🎸
I bought the Twin Sister. Very cool amp.
I'm hearing a lot of good things about those Friedman amps. They do a great job mimicking those classic Marshall tones, and I imagine they don't cost nearly as much. RJC 72 uhm the Friedman amps can be around 3k-4k
@@AleandFire I stand corrected, unless you can get the same sound in a smaller, cheaper combo amp.
George can play any guitars or amps....sound like same Geroge all the time.
But wowww....i have to get one to try it on ..thanks
He sounds so much better without the delay I think it’s overkill I think it covers up what he’s actually doing this is probably the purest I’ve heard him 👍

My sentiments exactly! RIP my guitar hero Mr Randall William Rhoads.
DITTO all the wayyyyy!!!!!
@WhatSideOfTheBed DidYouWakeUpOn by a large margin at that... Rhoads closer than GL imo

Has George used this amp in any serious capacity in the studio or live? Or is it more like one of his favorite amps to merely noodle on? Thanks!
put the delay in the loop and you fave boost in front,, we want to hear you slay that little amp :)
as he wears a Randall T-shirt....LOL...Funk 49 riff at the 5:00 mark
Yeah ESP/Mike I thought that was funny when I saw his Randall shirt while demoing this amp.
@@lanceross3633 ...yeah man....LOL!!!!!
Hell's yeah dude.. The second half sounded like some joe Walsh
When do we get a George Lynch signature Friedman app?
First time I've ever seen George not using his signature guitars, weird to see him using a Les Paul and Strat.
What you need to do is have the master on 10 and then turn down the gain to around 6-7 then that amp sounds really good.
George would sound good through a shoe box. I like the Friedman a lot. Misty morning, clouds in the sky. Without warning...that Wizard walks by...
Всегда сильно и стильно.Браво!!!!!
funny George you ended up being a blues dude. I love it... the best he has sounded in a while.
The finger picking is a nice addition as well.

George knows what he is doing. He got the gain max because he knows how it’s going to sound in the band mix, has to cut through
What was that song playing in the background on the intro?
Lynch-Gibson les Paul- Friedman amp. Nice!!
This also demonstrates the distinct differences between the Les Paul and stratocaster
How many paused the video to write down Mr. Scary’ amp settings? 🤘🏻
Thats a pretty thick tone. Also, this amp is hella loud in real life.

Lynch on a paul absolutely brilliant on a tele still slays but that paul sound alone will hook ya
That les paul is sick
