    Friedman’s popular Dirty Shirley combo was designed for guitarists that wanted a Vintage Classic Rock tone inspired by British tube amps from the 60’s and 70’s. And what’s better than one Dirty Shirley? TWO DIRTY SHIRLEYS!
    In this video, Jack puts this killer new release through its paces!

    What I always appreciate about your playing Jack is that everything is so musical. Not just 10 minutes of “look at all the difficult stuff I can play”. That being said, it’s always insanely good!

    That Les Paul and high gain section is "THE" sound! No matter how many times I put my Les Paul through a modeler, or sim, whenever I play through a great overdriven tube amp I'm blown away.

      mic the Tube-Amp and than listen to it side by side with a good Amp-Sim, it is the same. Sitting in front of an Amp is something else than sitting in front of your monitors. ;-)

    Wow.. the high gain with a les paul sounds so much like a jcm 800. It could probably do thrash great, and then some sweet GnR. And with the strat crunch thats JTM45 hendrix land! Awesome!

    Amazing amp.
    A Twin Sister with one of the channels being similar to the Jake E Lee highest gain channel (brighter, tighter and more aggressive) would be the perfect Marshall style amp.

    • @chanceterrill5346
      @chanceterrill5346 3 роки тому +2

      Put a solid state rectifier in her it will tighten up the amp and make it more aggressive, less compressed, more like a super lead, yet it still retains that vintage Character, hit the front with a buxom boost with EQ bypassed and tight knob at about 11 o clock and you get a natural super high gain channel, it's like an extension of the amp...... It'll get you all the way to mastodon and black label society levels of gain, super addictive to play too

    I know this is a 2 year old video, but I've really gotten interested in the Dirty Shirley though using Dirty Shirley profiles in my Kemper. The Kemper does an amazing job, but I'm wanting to replace a Suhr Bella and a Fender amp with a more versatile tube amp - this fits the bill nicely, really impressed with the tones it gets.
    Jack - I've watched/subscribed to Peach guitar's channel for years now and you have become a quite the versatile, skilled and badass guitarist! Much respect from an old rocker from the other side of the pond!

    @Peach Guitars I would love love love a side by side comparison with the Friedman Smallbox as I'm torn between the 2 amps and can't decide. Jack you make the best demo's where I can really hear what the amps character is. Thanks if you can do that.

    • @PeachGuitars
      @PeachGuitars  3 роки тому +8

      They are similar, the Smallbox is stiffer and more precise, while this Twin Sister is a little rounder, warmer and juicier. Similar to the differences between a Marshall 50 watt JMP and a JTM. Both are superb! - Jack

    • @joeygentile7829

      @yours truly The Small Box is more Plexi sounding, whereas the Dirty Shirley / Twin Sisters is more JTM 45. Also, the Small Box has a 2nd channel that is based off of the BE circuit, so it will do a higher gain sound. Musically speaking, a Small Box will take you from Classic Rock, to AC/DC to Alice In Chains. Dirty Shirley is more Classic Rock/ Modern Country /Allman Bros, and a little more gain to spare. I hope this made sense.

    I don't get people complaining at the price...... It is a top of the line American made amp with all top of the line components....... Ppl spend 6 grand on a guitar but 3 grand on amp is crazy? The amp is the most important part of the chain, put it this way, a shit guitar through a great amp will still sound great, a great guitar through a shit amp is gonna sound like crap.....

    • @chanceterrill5346
      @chanceterrill5346 3 роки тому +3

      If you want rediculous, try a 1987x reissue..... Midgrade components, cheap pcb construction (there is super high quality pcb amps with thick traces that are easy to work on) board mounted tube sockets etc. An fx loop that is pretty useless since the power section is gonna distort whatevers in it, at a price if 2500 dollars......that to me is quite high for what you get considering you could get a US made top quality hand wired version for 2500 from guys like germino..... The Friedman stuff is alot of r and d by means of trial and error so the fact that it's not a 50 60 year old Circuit (borrows from yes but is quite different) means it's gonna cost more, but you get customer service Directly from Dave and really user friendly features like a world class master volume and the best fx loop in the game...... Plus he's building and operating a business in freakin California..... In a gear saturated market, I think the price is reasonable all things considered........ I was happy to pay 2699.99 for my Shirley and the twin sister has another full eq bearing channel and additional features for only a couple hundred more? Come on

    I wish Friedman would also modernize their chassis and turn the top plate around. So annoying to have it upside down. 90% of the time you have the amp in front you so it makes setting up the channels extremely tedious. I would own a Smallbox 50 combo if not for this design flaw (which it is in my view). Killer amps though obviously.

    • @davidburke2132

      It really isn’t. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m not 50 and I’m not a banker and I’m interested in an amp like this and if I buy one it would get played. Maybe leave your prejudices at the door. I find it strange how guitarists seem so keen to call out expensive gear as “just for people who don’t know what they’re doing” or who just want it as a trophy or an investment piece. You really don’t hear the same thing anywhere near as often when I comes to car fans despite the fact that the disparity between “normal” car prices and supercar/hypercar prices is at least as pronounced and for the most part they’re not being bought by racing drivers either. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@Neil-Aspinall no, amps like this were and are made as premium top of the line tools. Friedman are a boutique amplifier brand... their whole raison d’etre is to build amps with (virtually) no compromises and make them as good as they possibly can. They’re not a production line brand like Marshall, Fender, Vox or even Mesa.
      To afford one you need a decent job for sure, but you don’t need to be some 50 year old banker. What you DO need if you’re not stinking rich is to have a real passion for guitar, and there are people around who do prioritise music and guitar as their main passion and buy gear accordingly.
      If you don’t think that this amp is worth £3k then that’s fine... perfectly acceptable opinion and you’re entitled to it. We each make our own decisions on what we value, what is “worth it” and what we buy and use. My objection isn’t to your opinion of whether you like or would buy the amp but your suggestion that these amps are only bought by one type of person, which is utter nonsense.
