I just picked up one of these because it was a killer deal. I'm a metal head and I like my distortion pedal in front of everything. I've got it set up on a full stack, two 1966 cabs with 25w GB's on top and G12H-30 Anni's in the bottom and it's pretty impressive for hard rock/metal stuff. Sounds like a big amp, just like Pete said. I'm diggin' it. Very well done.
I would want one, except for the fact that Dave did such a great job on the lead channel of my 65 Amps Lil Whiskey. A friend who has a Twin Sister said that they are very similar.
Thanks for the demo, Pete. This was one of the reasons I decided to pull the trigger on a used one. I've been searching for that "Marshall" sound around the 20w range. I also live in a condo, so can't blast at 100db all the time, so needed something that sounded good below 90db. I've messed with attenuators in the past, but they always muffled the tone, and completely ruined my ability to effectively roll the volume off with my guitar volume knob, but still stay clear. This amp sounds absolutely amazing. I've been playing it all weekend and just can't stop putting different guitars through it. The best part is being able to dial in that overdrive tone exactly how I want it, and then roll the volume knob to clean up my tone but still remain articulate. I'm playing through my Marshall 2x12 slanted closed-back cab with Greenbacks. This is a keeper.
Thanks for the review! Would you say that your setup (head + 2x12) has enough power for live gigs for a rock band with 2 guitars, bass, vocals + a LOUD drummer? Because I'm bouncing between getting what you have or a twin sister (which is 2x the price... ).
Any demo that features "If You Want Blood" and "Jailbreak" is a good demo in my world. If it's someone like Pete playing through an amp like a Friedman, then it's a GREAT demo. EDIT: And I almost forgot, "Back on the Chain Gang". Absolutely gorgeous clean sound on that one.
I love the switch for the gain levels especially when using pedals to boost! It allows my pedal to do what I want them to do! Great demo as always Pete
Man, long time digital guy (Kemper, yamaha THR10) but I just ordered this amp and the friedman 1x12 cab. I am stoked hearing your demo, definitely the kind of tones i am after!
Ok, the Little Sister is a great piece of gear - Friedman makes amazing stuff. But Pete Thorn is just a creative inspiration for us mere mortals. Nicely done, Mr. Thorn
I've got the Friedman Dirty Shirley module in my (admittedly overkill) collection of Synergy preamps, and it's one I keep coming back to in the studio. Looking at the Little Sister, this would be a phenomenal pedal platform for clubs and blues jam nights, and even a studio session player's secret weapon. There's just not a bad sound in that circuit. Phenomenal playing and demo as always, Pete!
Yes I have one coming from Sweetwater tomorrow Super stoked because I don't have any amps with gain and most pedals leave me wanting the real deal Not quite as open as el34's but almost like a Vox on steroids or mini Marshall
Sweet Mother of... this sounds oh so good! It's way out of my league, I don't think I'll ever be anything more than a beginner geeeetar player but your videos and sunday live streams keep me inspired and wanting to keep practicing. Thank you very much Pete.
Só glad you’re starting to do some amp demos, great job running through different tones. Good move by Dave to refresh the 20w amps, both updates sound killer.
My guess is it's because it's for Dave. Pete usually doesn't do amp demo's unless it's for Suhr or if he feels like the amp isn't competing against his Signature/Suhr. He is good Friends with Dave though. Maybe it's because the DS is a one Channel amp?
I'm here coz I like to hear Pete playing. I have the gear I need, I'm not here for reviews. Don't get me wrong, due to his reviews I bought the friedman be od pedal and later on the PL 1 fly rig. His reviews are contagious!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Dave’s ears are arguably the best in the biz. The Little sister has every sound Dean Deleo would need for any STP record-just thought I’d throw that out there. This might be my favorite Friedman amp yet. Great demo, Pete!
Watching you try to find the perfect position to play the Danelectro reminds me of the massive cheer rock guitarists must have let out when PAF pickups were released. We are going to Rock Out loud and proper everywhere on the stage now!
How do you always come up with these super cool little pieces of music?? It blows me away and really like to be able to do that too. Thanks Pete ! Very inspiring!
pete's phrasing and composition are always...unexpected. i like that in a guitar player... as for the friedman amps... they're #1 in my book/ no one GETS IT like friedman!
You know it’s funny, I played Dave’s tweaked Hiwatt today, which is like an optimized DR 103. It sounds so good. We’re just both laughing. Like how perfect a tone it has.. it’s almost addictive to play. And it’s funny to think that people would ever think that would go away… I mean it just sounds like the perfect most addictive rock ‘n’ roll sound. Why would we ever want to not do that anymore?
Sounds like it might be a good amp for my needs. I am Malcolm in ACDC tribute(s) and learning some EVH for possible tribute as well. I feel like the amp is a bit bright though.
I’d love more small self loading amp options I use a HK TM D 40 and I love using it with pedals/switcher and HX stomp for loop/post fx and IR for FOH I’d love to swap it out if I had an amp head option with the same functionality (even without the midi - basic switching would be fine)
ALOHA and Mahalo Pete! Very nice and useful sounds. All these nice amps and guitars come out and l'm on Tempoary Disability Insurance (TDI). Story of my life no money no honey.
Awesome, Mr. Thorn! Do you think Mr. Friedman will share with us the wiring for the Bright/Tight Switch so those of us with Dirty Shirley Minis can mod them?
This amp sounds so awesome! Dave really created a great, versatile little tone machine by designing this amp. Thank you for making this video, Pete. It really makes me want to buy one of these beauties.
I'm going to have to pick up a Dan electrol guitar I do believe. Disappointed with the single coil hum but have worked with that problem before, still I like the guitar. Been thinking about getting one, you push me over the edge to finally get one. Thanks for the great video Pete. Always love the guitars you bring out for your demonstrations. You put the work into your videos... Randy, Great North Woods Michigan
Pete, am I hearing correctly that the Little Sister has a big, raw mid bark whereas the Pink Taco seems to scoop out a good chunk of the low mid and instead gives more of a razor focused upper mid & high sizzle?
Anybody else tune in to these just to listen to Pete play awesome stuff? This guy is the best out there.
Thanks so much for watching!
@@PeteThorn you're the best thing on the guitar interwebs.
He'll yes, no doubt, this is my preference style wise, so no question Pete's the man.
I do too... He's just so good!
Don't forget about Michael Neilsen

"Little Sister hits the stage, she cant help it, she's comin' of age"!!!
Well, breaking out some Pretenders was not expected but greatly appreciated. Nicely done Mr. Thorn!
So much great guitar playing on pretenders records!
Thanks for throwing that bit of Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak" in there, Lizzy is one of my all time favorite bands. Superb demo as usual!
The first few parts reminded me more of Soundgarden than Zeppelin till the solo. Great work as always. Awesome amp.
Has a Mark Ford era Black Crowes vibe about this tune. Love it
That's exactly what I thought too, searched for this comment! :)
Best amp demo song I've heard in years, mate Your compositional abilities are brilliant. Great tones too, man. Rock on!
Thanks so much
I would want one, except for the fact that Dave did such a great job on the lead channel of my 65 Amps Lil Whiskey. A friend who has a Twin Sister said that they are very similar.
Great demo, Pete. Cool, rockin' track up front as usual. Excited that you're now doing amp reviews!
Lol. I love how you have all those guitars just laying around in the back like you just went through them all looking for the right sound.
Thanks for the demo, Pete. This was one of the reasons I decided to pull the trigger on a used one. I've been searching for that "Marshall" sound around the 20w range. Yes I am in the same situation with a loud drummer in a guitar band
@15:33 Great to hear some Pretenders love...fantastic tones, Pete!
Thanks for showing that this amp can do clean very well.
Love the gain structure on this amp! Very classic vibe going on!
I had a similar switch on my PT20. Would be very cool if you could make it an actual footswitch
big Sound Garden Vibes. That opening track was so awesome man 🤘 !!! 🔥 🔥(gr8 amp to!)
Any demo that features "If You Want Blood" and "Jailbreak" is a good demo in my world. If it's someone like Pete playing through an amp like a Friedman, then it's a GREAT demo.

Love seeing the amp videos coming back, Pete! Great playing as always.
Its a fantastic amp.Can play so many styles with this from black Crowes to Matt. All convincingly,No compromises.
Desde el primer segundo del video se nota la calidad del amplificador. Lo quiero!!!
I love that Burn has become one of you go to test riffs!
I love the switch for the gain levels especially when using pedals to boost! It allows my pedal to do what I want them to do! Great demo as always Pete
Can’t wait for stock to arrive in Australia, I have wanted one of these for a long time ❤
I like your idea of flipping the switch to change dynamics
Fantastic tones, great writing, and playing! I love my twin sister. This little sister sounds just as good the big one.
Man, long time digital guy (Kemper, yamaha THR10) but I just ordered this amp and the friedman 1x12 cab. I am stoked hearing your demo, definitely the kind of tones i am after!
Getting a big Soundgarden vibe on this one. I was thinking it was similar to Limo Wreck, but that's not quite it. Very cool, Pete.
Ok, the Little Sister is a great piece of gear - Friedman makes amazing stuff.
But Pete Thorn is just a creative inspiration for us mere mortals. Nicely done, Mr. Thorn
Thanks Jerry!
The dirt Shirley mini is a masterpiece of an amp! I’m excited to try this new little sister out!
That is a fantastic sounding amp, and my goodness that is some killer guitar work too!
I've got the Friedman Dirty Shirley module in my (admittedly overkill) collection of Synergy preamps, and it's one I keep coming back to in the studio. Nice to see you mixing it up a bit with the product reviews. Love it!
That intro piece was juste so good to hear, thank you!

The Zep vibes on that intro were so killer. Great stuff!
I really liked the vibe from that intro. That amp sounds like an angry Marshall. Nice !!
Loving that Pretenders jam at the end!

The DS mini has been my #1 since 2019. Brilliant amp.
Dave’s ears are arguably the best in the biz. The Little sister has every sound Dean Deleo would need for any STP record-just thought I’d throw that out there. This might be my favorite Friedman amp yet. Great demo, Pete!
Dave loves his mids.
@@smokepeddler He knows what cuts through a mix.
@@jahjah67 yes sir
Dude! That tune is freaking great!!!
glorious demo, sounds, playing and amp
Woah, the demo song could easily be a part of a hit song :D
🙏
That’s a real nice piece of music Pete! So tasteful!
Thanks!

That red Suhr strat with the black pickguard looks sweet as, great tune as well of course!
I love it, it’s basically become my main guitar
How do you always come up with these super cool little pieces of music?? It blows me away and really like to be able to do that too. Thanks Pete ! Very inspiring!
The most fun part for me is coming up with the music! I just don’t overthink it
@@PeteThorn On point, I guess I do that more than I think I do. Hahaha, Even my reply has a lot of thinking
Heard a little STP in that intro, anyone?
@@PeteThorn supercreative❤
It's like hearing a new single from a studio session with step by step info.
I still need to listen to all the individual parts, but that sounds like something I’d be really interested in owning.
Great tune at the beginning and wow the tone of that amp!
PETE Success! On the Amp Episode's and Dave makes some Awesome Gear and he's got The Best on the Web to Test Them. Love the Rockin Out PETE!!!
Lovely opening riffs sir, really set the mood and you sound great on a Tele!
I got a very grungy vibe out of it. Mike McCready in a box, Pearl Jam, STP, Soundgarden kinda sounds.
Great song Pete. Perfect fall weather melancholy rock
On my radar. Always thought the Dirty Shirley needed a bright switch. Super cool amp!
Your playing is awesome. Such emotional and well thought out writing.
Amp sounds great
Thanks!
Hey, an amp demo! Gotta love double those double lead tracks. Love my Runt 20, so I'm sure this one sounds awesome. Thanks!
Wow, what a great jam track Pete. Amazing inpro. :)
Would love if they did a mini twin sister. Great vid!
pete's phrasing and composition
are always...unexpected.
i like that in a guitar player...
as for the friedman amps...
they're #1 in my book/ no one
GETS IT like friedman!
Thanks for the kind words!
Awesome guitar work! I'm amazed how you bring these parts together for such a cool sound!
Awesome as usual brother. I'm amazed at how people could ever think tube amps are on their way out, haha

Petes playing is amazing as always! But damn that amp sounds amazing!
One of my favourites guitar players right now! Amazing as always Pete! Greetings from Chile!
This amp sounds amazing. Pete's videos are always so enjoyable and informative. Now I have to save some pennies for this!
Great sounding amp.
I love the simple control layout.
your sound reminds me soundgarden guitar clean pushed sound amazing ..really and bytheway fantastic song..at the beginning.
Great post! Dig that riff Pete!
Sounds killer. Friedman amps are so good. Great Demo!
You say Zeppeliny vibe but I was hearing Mid 90’s Soundgarden. It seems this and the PTv2 would make a deadly stereo combo.
I wonder!
Sounds like it might be a good amp for my needs. I am Malcolm in ACDC tribute(s) and learning some EVH for possible tribute as well.
I feel like the amp is a bit bright though.
Just turn down the treble a little and you’ll be all set I think! Also, when the B switch is off it’s darker, I ran it on for most of this video
Between this and the upcoming Pink Taco V2, I've got some tough decisions to make this Christmas.
Same... just picked the little sister!
I absolutely love your playing!
Thank you!!
Pete, you should just make an album using all of your song intros. Quality tunage!
Probably an EP coming soon with a few of the ones I really dig
I love that edge of breakup tone!
Great demo vid Pete. Keep them coming.
The new PT 20 V2 sounded incredible.
This amp is nice, but that red suhr is even nicer, can’t wait to get one here in Europe, thank you for good review !
Huge fan of the sound of this amp
Man you such a DAMN fine job with these videos.
Just sayin’ Tanx! For keeping the bar just a wee, might higher.
Always Brilliant and Super Informative! Thanks Pete!
Nice demo! Great amp Dave Friedman! 👍🎸
I’d love more small self loading amp options

At 15:21 Pete with guitars stacked up into a Beaver hut.
Damn. Friedman sure made it hard to pick between the Twin Sister and Pink Taco 20s.
Friedman amps are the GOAT of amps.
Awesome, Mr. Thorn! Do you think Mr. Friedman will share with us the wiring for the Bright/Tight Switch so those of us with Dirty Shirley Minis can mod them?
Such a great intro, love that amp too!
The Danelectro sounds awesome!
I love it!!
That tone 5 minutes in, reminded me of some early Black Crowes.
This amp sounds so awesome! Dave really created a great, versatile little tone machine by designing this amp.
Thank you for making this video, Pete. It really makes me want to buy one of these beauties.
No surprises here. Amazing music, playing and tone. Another informative demo of a rockin amp! Killin it Pete, thanks!
