    This is a way to lure nurses away from traveling back into working for the hospital system. I’m sure the positions will be phased out or the hourly will be reduced within the next couple of years when demand is in line with supply. Get it while you can!

    I think it's a bad idea. The problem in Nursing - like everywhere - is that greedy Corporations design jobs that feed Executives and CEOs ...off the backs of their workers. Intentional short staffing, Holiday and time off takeaways, eliminating pensions, decreasing support staff - all so they can line their pockets - with a total disregard for patient care and the quality of life of their staff. THEY created the Nursing Shortage. THEY created internal Traveling. Everything is a band aid to help them continue to syphon the money to them : PRN, Per Diem, Travel Nurses, Internal Travel Nurses. How about spending the necessary money and fully and safely staff a Hospital? How about making sure your Staff have low stress jobs, adequate time off, good pay....and a good quality of life. The projections of the Nursing Profession for the next 10 years are alarming to say the least. Average age of a Nurse now is 52 and climbing. 19% of all Nurses right now are over the age of 65. Unsustainable. Maybe if CEOs and Executives could consider making 9 million dollars instead of 11 million dollars....we could fix Healthcare, and the Nursing Shortage. Just my opinion. I do enjoy your videos Katherine. Keep up the good work.

    I'm currently in contract with one . The pay is a lot higher compared to going with agencies but there's a few things that I don't like.
    1. Hours are not guaranteed. So if census is low, you can be sent home w/o pay. This is my 2nd contract , and it hasn't happened to me yet.
    2. The pay is biweekly instead of weekly.
    3. I have to get my own health insurance but the company does provides 403b retirement.
    4. There are no sick leave or PTO. If you called out, you won't get paid... except when you get COVID.

    Here, where I live there is a hospital organization doing it. $90/hr but it’s every other weekend, no if ands or buts, and only guaranteed for 2 years at that rate where they will then re-evaluate to see if they will then see if they will continue with it or have you get another staff position within the organization. They did offer it first to their staff nurses then they went externally which only left night shifts which I can’t physically do anymore.

    This is a very cool concept. I hope it becomes more common everywere. I live in SoCal, our regular rates to me are still pretty good. CNA's/ Nurse Assistants are 25 to 34 an hour LVNs 35 to 50, and RN's 55 to 80 . Travel nursing is still more lucrative though.😅

    Oh NK, where do I even start on this one? I feel like a battle rap would break out if we were on a stage. First off, great video on the topic, informative as always. Although, the entire point of being a Travel Nurse is being an independent business where Nurses bill out the Hospital for hours worked. But most importunately, we aren't hospital employee's. I'm my own boss and the Nurse Manager is just a co-employee, I'm my own boss and I make the decisions for my business. Although, I currently work with internal Travel Nurses and it works great with them. So, as a result I'll give it a thumbs up because it does really work out for some travelers. Plus seeing other nurses make more money always makes me happy. The Alaskan Travel Nurse market is probably more than 50% owned by the Internal Travel Nurse market. It just seems to be a little better arrangement up her in the North.
    I like living in the Northern US in the summer and South for the winter. I also like the money. So, to each their own I guess. Just signed my 20th contract. Officially, in Alaska for 6 months of spring, summer and fall 2022. Looking for a new sunny spot for winter. I really have a awesome spot in mind! I hope one day we do a UA-cam video together. Keep on making video's, I always enjoy them! But, it's still the Travel Nurse Life here at The Everything Travel Nurse Show!

      Hi there! 🎉💊💉
      Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment, first off YES I'd love to do a video together and secondly I completely agree with you!
      Travel nursing has taught me that I'm in control of my career now and I dont think I will ever want to work for a hospital again or under any "big" company again. It feels good to be in control!
      Quick story, the manager at the facility I'm at now came to me yesterday telling me about their new internal travel nurse program they're fanning out. Sounded nice but then I thought huh yeahhh what's the catch..pay I'm sure is nonnegotiable.
      Interested in finding out more about it but no thank you for now 😂

    This is not new folks, lots of big hospitals already have these nurses. They just float to the different facilities owned by the hospitals. What state do you work in now that you’re only making $40 an hour or 50? I am a staff nurse I’m making 70 an hour. So I don’t know where you’re talking about that would only be making $75 an hour for internal traveling. This is just another name for SRN.

    • @Katherine_Ann
      @Katherine_Ann  Рік тому

      Hi Shawna, I live here in Atlanta GA, internal travelers are making around 70 an hour at the hospital I'm currently at. Some more, some less. It's a bit different of my understanding than float because you're only working 12 or 13 week contracts.
