The population of Tokyo the Capital City of Japan is currently around 37 million people which is greater than the entire population of the Country Of Australia!
@@tominatorixThe movie is okay overall. I find it watchable mostly because of Sean Connery. I'm going to read the book at some point in the next few months. I suspect it will be better than the movie.

@strayedarticle2838 That's how movies @ theaters were sold at the time; draw interest/emotion to gain sales. Trailers now are lackluster and give the best/only intriguing scenes of the movie. Additionally, with theaters being an afterthought in the digital age, people aren't looking for or very interested in watching trailers.
I remember this - based on a book all about the Japanese taking over the US economically, released about the same time the bubble burst, making this look very stupid in hindsight. The actual Japanese found this to be hilarious, of course.
That is an understandable view to have as perhaps a teenager, but for an adult with refined tastes the dialogue and story is where all the fun is. At least for this movie.
I'm currently going through a bunch of older crime thrillers emphasizing East/West culture clashes with American police officers/detectives pursuing Asian villains. So far, Rising Sun is the worst. This film is just dull, convoluted, and anticlimactic with some plot threads and relationships left unresolved. While the performances are solid, Connery and Snipes's characters are one-note. Connery's character is the old sage who is right about everything and Snipes's character is young and angry; that's all there is to them. Its attitude towards Japanese industry is both laughable and worrying. The tagline for this film might as well have been, "Reject Japanese Industry. USA All The Way!" I've also gone through Black Rain and Showdown in Little Tokyo already, so I'm on to The Yakuza (1974) and Year of the Dragon (1985).
Not that serious. Especially in this day and age where Japanese are worshiped I don’t think it really affected their lives for the worse. I’d say it’s a time capsule of a period. It’s like saying all this pro ____ stuff now or “wokeness” is going age poorly, it might. It will but the whole point is to show a slice of what people’s thought processes were for a time.
Both of the original "Westerners" and "Easterners" were in fact Romans / Mediterraneans. Anglos and others Barbarian Invaders (such as the "Holy Roman Empire") stolen the Western Roman identity first, then they stolen the identity of both Romans and generalized all other people from the planet as "Easterners".
2:11 best part of the movie
For me is 0:48 :D
Wow this comes off like a parody trailer of every 90s cop thriller.
The film way better then the trailer. Not action film
one of the best movies!
Facts ....
Very good film but dont expect a Action film. Its a Murder Mystery
Capt. Marko Ramius (Connery) meets John Cutter (Snipes) 😎👌🎬
James bond meets blade
My teacher was in the act her name is Cheryl Fong
Great movie!
Always the beginning of the movie that i remember

Great movie, look for the cameo by Tadashi Yamashita.
The book is incredible.

Nowadays when I finish watching a trailer of a present movie I laugh when I realize I just watched the entire movie in the trailer.

Are you saying the fictional book was stupid?
@@CDankies No, I'm saying the NON-fictional book was stupid.
I remember this film having nonstop boring talking scenes and too few fighting scenes.
It's a murder mystery but people thought it was gonna be action film
Only the beginning of the movie was interesting

Arguably the worst adaptation of a superb book, ever made. I was crushingly disappointed when I saw this on the big screen.
What are you talking about? The movie was......
Man this movie is a straight classic
What you on bout Marks, movie was brilliant.
The book was great, the movie was okay. As far as Michael Crichton adaptations go, it's no Jurassic Park but at least it wasn't Sphere.
Considering the talent involved, this movie was total crapolla.
