One tip from my end. Whatever shoe you buy please don't take completely new shoes to the trek. Yuo need to break the shoes. Wear it for few weeks or few months before. Another important thing is lace up your shoe very tightly around your ankles. It you save your toe-nails while descending. :)
I have this shoe and has used it in snow conditions in Kedarkantha trek in December-January( with microspikes) and Sandakphu trek in March and thereafter in few other treks as well and it is perfect in terms of grip, waterproofing, looks, etc and most importantly budget friendly and value for money for beginners.. Update: Still using it for treks after almost 4.5 years.. The sole is still good, the waterproofing is not working anymore and the colour has faded, the skin has got bruises from boulders and rocks in the treks..
One major difference. I don't know if decath is being gender bias but the high end sole print is only on the women's shoe and not on the men's. I have seen comments stating the men's shoe slips during trek.......... Men before buying kindly check review on decath. Nice video thanks. It helped.
I have done the Sandakphu Phalut and Kedarkantha treks with this shoe in a span of 2.5 yrs. In the Sandakphu summer trek, this shoe felt like an extension of my feet and gave immense grip, and didn't let me slip even once. But in Kedarkantha, I slipped a few times on black ice trails. The microspikes damaged a part of the sole, and one shoe sole also came apart after the trek. So, from my experience, this shoe is totally great for long summer treks, and for snow portions, but you have to be careful about grip on icy portions. Waterproofing is top-notch, my feet weren't wet even after waddling and playing in the snow, and after the Kedarkantha summit trek of 10+ hours. Cushioning and ankle support are also great.
I have bought this & going to my 1st trek very soon. How to avoid slipping? Would the men's Version of this shoe would have worked better in terms of slipping?
I completed the Hampta pass trek with these shoes, the male version of it, where the grip is a bit less. These are a bit risky on the patches of ice at the pass, otherwise, they are great. I did it on July first week, 2022.
I'm from the hills and have used this shoe at least once a month for a year. The waterproofing on the shoe is great considering its price but sadly the shoe didn't last me for more than a year as the rubbery material used on the shoe started tearing up slowly per use. I used the shoe for some light trekking and passing along streams, but considering the distance I traveled on them, they didn't last as expected. Also the outer soles look quite grippy but they are the opposite to its purpose as they are more slippery on hiking trails as compared to most of my running shoes. Also if you are looking for a hiking shoe that will last for years, I would consider some other brand than Quechua as I have owned multiples of them in different variants.
Shoes doesn't matter if you don't know how to walk on moraines and while trekking. My friend was wearing La Sportiva and was rushing on the moraines and experienced a cramp. I was wearing generic Reedox shoes and did 20k comfortably.
Excellent. Loving your review series. Kindly review budget friendly layers which can withstand all seasons. From base, middle to top also cover bottom.
Bought a pair ....the sole disconnected from the upper in a couple of months ....decathlon exchanged them and within 3 months the soles cracked through and through in the center The previous model that Quechua made that decathlon carried was super great ....used them for more than 5 years EVERYDAY ....
Thanks so much for the info shared on these shoes. Planning a Himalayan trek and wanted to know if I need to buy another pair, since I have the exact same pair. I will be using the same ones now.
I have an older version of this shoe and was informed by my trek lead on one of my IH treks that it is fine in terms of ankle support, flexibility and cushioning but one major drawback is the grip is not very good. Having done a few treks, I would agree with that. Not sure if they have fixed this in the current version, but my shoe has the exact same pattern.
I just started trekking and I love the info I can find about treks on your website. I live in Mumbai and I’ve planned tomorrows trek to bhimashankar after reading your detailed article about it. Thanks for being a high quality source for trekking info in India 🫶🏻

Please make video on gear that can be purchased from the local market and not from Decathlon. Basically, the idea behind it is to get more affordable gear in less price. Decathlon items are undoubtedly good but they're not pocket friendly. So any such idea of how to get basic items like shoes, trek pants, jackets, etc in affordable price would be appreciated.
Decathlon makes some of the most affordable clothing items. I don't think the price to quality ratio could get any better than what they've currently achieved. I bought their running pants for 1499 and they're as good, if not better than my Puma and Nike joggers that cost over 4k.
I have used the SH100 for a trek Amazing pair of shoes, great grip You only have to avoid heavy mucky with a lot of water, as some water may seep in a bit steadily.
Idk I was about to order Sh100's but after looking at the reviews on official site I decided to get the Adidas Questit Mid's as some people claiming Sh100's to be very slippery and got there feet wet in 10min on snow. I think the quality is not consistent with every batch of stock. Maybe you're lucky with your batch!
@@karankaul1639 Had been to spiti recently in the winter, almost everyone had a Quechua I think its also depends on the way its used, some snow can definately creep in a bit from the ankle area. Black ice everyone needs to be careful. It's a fantastic shoe for the price.

Hey Swati, please clear this confusion. The NH150 for women and men have different grips. The men one doesn’t have cross grip and I haven’t seen that one in any other shoe from decathlon. how’s that grip ik comparison to the one in the video? I will be waiting for your response.
Hi Siddharth. Yes, correct. The men NH150 is the old version whereas the women one has cross grip which is better. If you are looking for a trekking shoes with good grip, you can check our rental store. This shoe will be best for trekking: store.indiahikes.com/product/mh100-shoes/
I went to a Decathlon store today and I am sorry to report that they have started using a completely different sole for this shoe now and from what I could tell it would offer much less grip as compared to the sole in the shoe you have shown in this video.
I'm not entirely sure about the new sole, because I haven't used it myself. But when I asked around, I learnt that they have made the sole better. But to test it yourself, just see if the sole has deep enough grooves that will give you grip, that's what matters the most.
The women's version has this cross contact sole while the men's version doesn't. It has linear grooves. Many people have complained that it's slippery on wet rocks.
I have recently done 3 treks in Meghalaya...where the terrain went from plain land to uneven surfaces to loose gravel to boulders and rocks and few spring crossing too... And I must say it worked wonderfully in all the different terrains..it was a life saviour..a must have for trekkers
I guess Decathlon is cashing in on the poppularity of this shoe. I went to the Decathlon in Navi Mumbai , CBD yesterday specifically to checkout this shoe and when I checked the sole it was different , it's not the cross contact sole that is shown in this video anymore, they have changed it to big V shaped pattern . Not sure if this new sole gives the same kind of gripping as the previous one . If anyone has used it , please comment .
I just checked the same shoe on decathlon website but they are selling it with a completely different sole as shown in the video.would you still recommend to buy this shoe ? Thanks
Thanks so much Swathi for an honest review. I had a Colombia previously but was not too sure to shell out the huge price when I came across Decathlon's shoes. I was most concerned about ankle support, but your video cleared the air!
A hiking shoe isn’t made for an impact like that which happens incase of a motorcycle accident, it’s not a riding shoe, so the hard protection at various parts isn’t the top priority when building a shoe on a budget, also these things affect the comfort, while riding your feet are subject to completely different conditions compared to while hiking trekking
Very informative video, In fact I was looking to buy a trekking shoes and I found Quechua but I was sceptical about using it. Next time tell us how you manage your water intake and how much water you carry? Do you carry any filter straw for your hikes?
Most Himalayan trekking trails have fresh water sources, so we can two 1L bottles that can keep us hydrated. On trails where water is difficult, we usually carry a water purifying bottle, like Paany, just to be on the safe side. So then it becomes a 1L bottle plus a water purifying bottle.
Looking to buy new trekking shoes for Kedarnath, Kedarkantha & Tungnath can you please recommend good shoes? Confused between two options *Quechua NH 150 or Ctr Rub 50*.
Thanks for the information. I have one query: i regularly do trekking in Gujarat and Maharashtra. i have Quechua (MH 100 mid wtp e vm brown) shoes purchased from decathlon. which is comfortable and grip is fine. but it fails on wet rocks. it slips on wet rocks. there is not any grip on wet rocks. i see all shoes in decathlon have same material of outer sole (i think hard rubber sole). while i have sports shoes and it works well on wet rock but not comfortable for 4-5 hours of trek. it has soft sole. can you explain about it and tell me which shoes is best for wet rocks? Thanks.
I had my eye on these shoes at decath, but the sales person told me that these are the best ones for trekking and asked me to go for the mh100 But now looking at this review i really wonder if he was just being helpful or trying to upsell to me Could you give a review on the MH100 or give a comparison between the two and if its even worth going for the higher version
Hi Aditi :) Thank you!! So the NH150 is a better quality shoe overall, it’s waterproof and has a great sole. NH100 is alright for local treks but it won’t be suitable for Himalayan treks in the long run. The wear and tear is much higher.
Hello! Is NH300 similar to NH150? I don't see the NH300 model anymore in the Decathlon catalogue. I had bought NH300 back in 2020. Would like to know if this is good enough for the Miyar valley trek.
Informative video. Can you suggest some socks as well? I have extremely sweaty feet (so much so that I have stopped wearing chappals outside home completely as I slip wearing them even in winter). As I sweat a lot, smell is also an issue. Can you share tips regarding maintaining the shoes too like cleaning and storing ? TIA.
I have this same shoe. I used it only once. It was so slippery on wet surfaces. Especially on wet rocks. I am new to trekking. Is it because it is a new shoe and it will be grippy over time?
Hi Swathi, how was the Fit?? I mean people often say that it's better to go with a size bigger, in case of trekking shoes. Is it true for this one as well??? should I go for a size up?

Heyy, saw a few other videos and read comments talking about this not being suitable for sahyadri treks. Planning to do a couple monsoon treks this year in the western ghats, would this work?
Was at decathlon yesterday. They have changed the sole of the nh150. It is not the same as their hight price shoes now. It definitely does not look suitable for a Himalayan trek now.
On every treks our guide or porters used just ordinary shoes. Grips don't matter much if you have sense of balance and know where to put your foot and how to transfer weight from one foot to another.
How are SH-100 X snow ? For a 6000m+ trek ? I already have MT-600. But during the trek it was extremely painful may be size issues. There are boots in men's collection that are for 3000inr with -11 degree Celsius (moving ) and -20 walking. However the same are not there in women's collection and the option close to it is Sh100 x snow shoes for 4000inr ( -3 degree & -11 walking). Kindly pls guide if they are ok for the purpose ?
Is Male NH150 grips are good or bad . Because male nh150 doesn't have cross grips.. Can i buy this pair of shoes for kedarnath track or gangotri or sandak - phu .. etc etc. Please suggest me..
Let me tell you one thing very clearly There is nothing like waterproof shoes Even shoes of RS 200 made of pure plastic works on trek Till -5 degrees temperature There after you need a good trecking shoes

Thanks.
I had my eye on these shoes at decath, but the sales person told me that these are the best ones for trekking and asked me to go for the mh100
But now looking at this review i really wonder if he was just being helpful or trying to upsell to me
Could you give a review on the MH100 or give a comparison between the two and if its even worth going for the higher version
Hi Swathi, can you also please try and do a review video on Quechua NH100 in comparison with NH150
P. S. : Love the content you put up!
Hi Aditi :)
Thank you!!
So the NH150 is a better quality shoe overall, it’s waterproof and has a great sole.
NH100 is alright for local treks but it won’t be suitable for Himalayan treks in the long run. The wear and tear is much higher.
@@Indiahikes thank you for the prompt reply ☺
I did my dayara bugyal trek with the same shoes although they were borrowed
TIA.
Hi, refer this video on how to take care of trekking shoes for cleaning tips - ua-cam.com/users/shortszWcFLGZYIW8?feature=share
A lot of people said the sole has changed, is the shoe still relevant for snow treks?
I have this same shoe. I used it only once. It was so slippery on wet surfaces. Especially on wet rocks. I am new to trekking. Is it because it is a new shoe and it will be grippy over time?
Nh150 men and women shoes sole are different …women nh150 same sole available on men mh100 wch cost 4500 so should we go for nh150 or mh100??
Great video. Keep it up,sis✌️
Why the reviews on the website says different story?
The bottom grip design has been changed now. don't know whether it has the same level of grip .
Hi Swathi, how was the Fit?? I mean people often say that it's better to go with a size bigger, in case of trekking shoes. Is it true for this one as well??? should I go for a size up?
Hi @Indiahikes: I got my pair of NH150 today, but somehow the insoles of the shoes were detachable and it came off... I am not sure if this the expected behavior. Can you please give your thoughts...
Hi mam. I am 57 yr going on kailash mansarovar yatra in this May ending. I normally use hush puppies shoe for walking. Can I use this decathlon shoe for 3 days kailash parikrama. Flexibility of sole and grip while descending on day 2 is important for me. Waiting for your reply 😊
Heyy, saw a few other videos and read comments talking about this not being suitable for sahyadri treks. Planning to do a couple monsoon treks this year in the western ghats, would this work?
Like and subbed! Loved your review
Was at decathlon yesterday. They have changed the sole of the nh150. It is not the same as their hight price shoes now. It definitely does not look suitable for a Himalayan trek now.
Can I use it for EBC? I have just used for Triund trekk
CTR are the best?
On every treks our guide or porters used just ordinary shoes. Grips don't matter much if you have sense of balance and know where to put your foot and how to transfer weight from one foot to another.
Bought these today 🙌🏻
How are SH-100 X snow ? For a 6000m+ trek ? I already have MT-600. But during the trek it was extremely painful may be size issues. There are boots in men's collection that are for 3000inr with -11 degree Celsius (moving ) and -20 walking. However the same are not there in women's collection and the option close to it is Sh100 x snow shoes for 4000inr ( -3 degree & -11 walking). Kindly pls guide if they are ok for the purpose ?
The review being done here is the woman's version. The men's version of the NH150 doesn't have cross contact sole. Can anyone confirm?
Is Male NH150 grips are good or bad . Because male nh150 doesn't have cross grips.. Can i buy this pair of shoes for kedarnath track or gangotri or sandak - phu .. etc etc.
Please suggest me..
Let me tell you one thing very clearly
There is nothing like waterproof shoes
Even shoes of RS 200 made of pure plastic works on trek
Till -5 degrees temperature
There after you need a good trecking shoes
Hi Indiahikes, could you please suggest treking shoes from amazon?
👍🇮🇳🦯Nice Short informative Review
Comfort level ?
Hi, I am buying adidas xaphan mid xsd
Is this good shoe for treaking in snow
I see that the sole has changed. From triangular to more rectangular ones. Is it good enough? @India Hikes
Edit: I bought MH100 after chatting with Decathlon's staff.
Dont believe her it must be a sponserd ive checked the shoes worst product ever
@@Dhdujrjns it could have been sponsored but I don't think India Hikes would put their credibility at stake for a shoe. I hope they come up with an update about the new NH150 version and pin it to this video.
There's one avail with synthetic material. Same as the one cost 7k just material difference. Is that a better option or this?
Hi Thanks for video, however i want to buy shoes and This is a first time experience for me, not sure if I will be trekking much either. So do you still recommend buying shoes, if yes can you suggest some affordable options.. its a 4-5 day trek kasol and kheerganga
Hi Akshata, we would suggest you rent a pair of shoes rather than buy them. Especially since this is your first trek experience and you are unsure if you will trek frequently. This is budget friendly, plus you save on maintenance and closet space. There are quite a few portals where you can rent like sharepal.in/

I have seen difference in sole design for men. Those are different from women’s grip. So is this grip as well recommend?
Hi Swathi. Can these exact shoes be used by men? Because their male counterpart has different groves, which people say slip in mild snow. Btw you people make helpful videos
Hi Harshul,
Hmm.. not sure about this. Womens’ shoes are usually narrower. But what you can do is try them on at a store to see if you find them comfortable, instead of buying them online.
Hi! Is it good for mountain hiking? Or should I go for MH-xxx?
I have the same shoes...i love it.
Hello.
I bought nh100, how it is, can u make a video on that. I purchased it for amarnath yatra, and not for long trek, but as its not waterproof, does it work?
The men's version of NH 150 doesnt have this cross contact sole. Please suggest a good trekking shoe for men in this budget.
What is different Between nh150 and nh150 wp. Wp has different sole.
I am looking for multi tool kit which I cn use in case of adversaries during travelling.. Could u suggest something... I saw this multi tool kit in decathlon.. Cn u suggest or advice other
Hi Swathi mam. My brother had NH150 but men's version which he uses for local treks. My foot fits well , but it doesn't have criss cross grooves like the one in video. Do you think they are safe for not slipping if I plan to use them in some snow or slippery rocks/mud
Hmmm we’re not sure, because we haven’t used this sole ourselves. But you can use them on a local trek and see how they perform.
Used CTR coaster trekking shoes, not the best shoes but I don't think any shoe can match its value for money performance . Extremely rugged, if possible please review it.
Did you use it for Himalayan trek
@@Rusikulyausing the shoes for nearly 1 yr, total rough use, everything's ok. Didn't trek but done lots of hike during our bike trip in Sikkim and many hilly hikes in Jharkhand . Shoe is heavy but comfortable , not waterproof , very warm, perfect for Himalayan cold, grip is not top notch but good. Price only Rs 900 😊 including courier charges. Bought it from Singh Brothers, they have a UA-cam channel. Already spoilt 2 Woodlands and 1 Reebok 🤣 in treks.
Please suggest some shoes for snow trekking or snow fall season
Thanks, this is useful 👍
Which decathlon shoes is best for everest base camp tour?
