As cack handed methods go, this is very good. Much easier to put the side bars in first and then drop the panels in afterwards. The Thornes method is how I ruined a brood box they sent me initially. Simon the Beekeeper shows an easier method to do the same thing.

    Great Video! thanks Thornes!
(mind you i've put together quite a few now so could probably do them in my sleep)
But always good to watch and correct bad habits that we all get into.

Well I wish I'd seen this before I butchered mine together. I think I will have to order another one now. Whoops!

Why oh why is this 7/16" measurement bandied around - just align the top of the inner wall with the inner top edge of the upper locking bar - if these surfaces are aligned then it makes for easy cleaning with your hive tool.
I assemble mine with the locking bars first, the method on the video is so much harder, especially for bee-ginners.

+region2 yeah I do that too, just slide it in after the locking bars and two ends are glued in. Then you can just align the edges with your fingers and hammer it in place. Easy.

Just one thing, why do you measure the diagonals after you have nailed everything together? Surely, it's a bit late to do anything if it's not aligned properly.

+lorus511 marketing, that way you'll need to buy another one if you mess it up. 0:)

Agreed. I keep a crown board handy to check it's square as I go along.

Useful but it’s hard to get passed the appalling state of his bitten fingers! 😣

Not a fan of nails in this application. Drilled and screwed.
