This 7/16" thing is confusing and unnecessary. Put the box together with the top of the inner panels flush with the lower inner edge of the top locking bar. The resultant flat surface is easy to clean with a hive tool or scraper. Then add a runner or castellation using a frame as a measure so that the top of the frame fits flush with the top of the super or brood box.

I've just learned that the hard way by building my brood box which is 0.5-1.0 mm 'off' by doing it runner first. Lesson learned for the next build!

Difficult to follow and some instructions are ambiguous. Doesn’t tally with the written instructions online. Requires copious use of the Pause and Back buttons but got there in the end.
