Bond no. 9 New Haarlem has been blipping on my radar for years. So, even though I said I woudn't blind buy anymore this year, I found a deal on it that I couldn't pass up and I blind bought it. And it's almost Christmas, and I like treating myself more this time of year. Here are my humble thoughts on this steadily hyped gourmand fragrance for both men and women. Enjoy!

i haven’t smelled this one, but i absolutely love new york nights by bond, despite the lackluster reviews. it’s caramel in a bottle, and it lasts all day on my skin, just one spray.
I've got New Haarlem and it absolutely smells like maple. I don't get the coffee as much but "maple syrup" for sure. My wife has a sweet tooth and she loves to snuggle in my neck when I'm wearing it. As the Fragrance Bros. mentioned in their review, this is a perfect scent for the fall/autumn. I can see why it's called "The Breakfast Cologne". A blind buy for me that I don't regret.

I've yet to find a Bond 9 fragrance that I like. I think this fragrance house is over hyped.
I really like this one. Its one of my favorite niche scents along with aventus and reflection man... the problem with this one is that its a bit over powering at times.. You can get very sick of it or feel its too much after awhile... You have to use this sparingly and don't wear it too often.. The reason why I like new harlem so much is because it comes close to this smell that I always loved. The gap store in my mall was next to cinnabunz.. And inside the store it had this super unique awesome smell , that smelled like cinnabunz mixed with whatever kind of woody scent that was in the store.. It was just a great smell... this scent comes close to it.. but still not 100 percent.. but close!
PS if you want an edible scent try chocolate greedy. think the syrup/pancakes is a little too literal. that is peoples interpretation of the scent. It never claimed to have maple syrup or syrup in it. lol
It sounds like a dupe for Bond No. 9 I Love New York (the black bottle). It smells just like a pancake breakfast with the sausage. Very weird but lovely scent. Try it.
Have you heard of Soltice Scents ? They have amazing gourmand fragrances . My favorite from them is owl creek aleworks . Notes are : caramel, toasted coconut, hazlenut, pumpkin and vanilla !

I agree: This one smells not like real maple syrup but like that fake super sweet stuff I grew up on. (Yup, Aunt Jemima.) I don't get coffee like some say. But that weird lavender works against the sweetness for me in the perfect counterpoint. I don't think it's a pure gourmand, but I absolutely adore the weird mix that it is. Thoughtful review! I love what you said about the textures.
I don't get much coffee either...good to know I'm not the only one. :D The lavender definitely is a curveball!
It is very possible that it was reformulated, and if so then the older bottles probably do come of more with a pancake/syrup vibe.
I have heard of this one being reformulated yes. Such a pity :(

D. really nice review, i have watched a number of reviews on this house and they all have been mixed some good other not so. so i haven't been inspired to buy any as yet and they are fairly expensive. still not tempted to buy, but I thought it was a nice that you displayed the bottle in the background, have you ever thought about displaying more of your fragrances in the background whilst doing reviews

I thought I was going to love this, I got a decant and was so disappointed. I found it herbal and savoury. The syrup mixed with this weird dry herbal aspect did not work for me at all. The hype is not real!

Lala D new Harlem is amazing!!! Its amazing what diff noses enjoy. I love this!! Own signature and chinatown as well.
theres a bond no 9 new york patchouli at marshalls I'm debating if i wanna get it lol its $130 plus taxes
OOhhhh yes I saw your video! I haven't tried that one but patchouli is a difficult note for me. I know you like blind buying ;) but I don't think that would be a safe one :D Sweet and fruity patchoulis are quite nice, but in general, patchouli kinda smells like a dirty, musky earthy soil to me, which I honestly don't smell a lot of women wearing where I am (and also where you are), so you'll definitely smell different, but whether it's a good type of different or a bad type is a toss up. And we should hang out next time I'm in town :D
Thank you for the heads up so I will not be purchasing this fragrance, how is it like living in Holland, other people friendly because I've been thinking well seriously thinking about moving overseas
Living in Holland as a foreigner has it's challenges for sure. Learning the language is one of them, but in Amsterdam mostly everyone speaks English anyway. But for a perfume lover, it's a great place to live, as hard to find fragrances are quite accessible. :D
There goes my low carb day. Now I have to taste some of those cakey pancakes with maple syrup😂.

I didn’t like it on my scin it was a weird Cumin curry vibe very savoury. it sounded so nice I was quite disappointed

I did not care for it at all. Too maple syrupy sweet. I gave it to my daughter’s father, lol but he did not like it either. Now... Chinatown is another story...a total love.
I haven't tried Chinatown yet but I've heard a lot of good things about it :D
Chinatown is the only Bond I really love!
Hahaa.. well this frag is doing very well in US. maybe the reason is that they dont know much about maple syrup as we do in Canada...
probably because most people aren't smelling it looking for maple syrup.. There is no syrup or maple syrup in the fragrance.
