I see many clinicians making the same mistakes when injecting Botox on their older patients. Older patients are more likely to suffer from a spock brow or brow drop, so in this episode I discuss the most common Botox mistakes I see injectors making on older patients AND what to do instead for great patient results
Thank you for the information. It appears some don't appreciate they're getting these videos for free.
Yes so many ungrateful people, they shouldn’t be here
This is great! It would be really helpful to see your mapping technique to match the concepts discussed here when treating older patients
this is exactly my thought.
So refreshing to find a presentation that is balanced and not hyped - in short realistic in expectation and result. I have contemplated having Botox applied but cannot afford the indulgence.
than you for your education.. I appreciate your confident and humble approach.
Fabulous advice and great video!
Thank you so much Dr Pearce, your contributions to our education, make a huge difference in therms of being a good and responsable injector. Thank you so much 🙏. 🇨🇴
Thanks a lot Dr Tim,this was great 👍 😊
So so valuable! Thank you doctor!
Love this information! Dr. Scags
I like your honesty! I believe your parents can trust you! So many celebrities over do fillings and other things they get done. I believe less is better than add o .
Love this!!!! Thank you!
Thank you for this. Im 64 and was getting botox twice a year. Im stopping now. Wasting my money. Last time i got a bruise. And its more painful too.
Good explaining!
Wow! Thank you for this information and your honesty. I’m 57 and take good care of my skin topically. I’ve never had Botox and have been thinking about it more lately. My biggest concern is my forehead due to a very deeply creased wrinkle on my right side. I think I’ll just pass on Botox as the chances of a negative result outweigh any benefit. Wish I had of jumped on the Botox train at 40 so I would have avoided the big crease! Ah well, hindsight is 20/20.
Hey Tim! Would you recommend going in a bit more superficial for older clients to avoid ptosis?
What do you think about the botox lipflip in a 63 yr old
Same scenario. My dentist did masseter botox on me, aged 40, for teeth grinding. My whole mid face collapsed downwards and inwards. I went to my derm, Dr Davin Lim, who could see what had happened and he injected filler to fix it. He said, "Don't do botox there again. Those muscles are your scaffolding."
So true. I had a friend whose dentist gave her Botox for TMJ. She was on disability leave for 3 months because she couldn’t hold her neck upright. It was scary as she had trouble swallowing as well.
Wow that is horrible and sounds scary.
@@tcwc5928that is because of the dentist's poor technique. with proper injection point set there is no chance to lose strength in SCM muscles and other swallowing muscles
Great info, so what would you suggest for crows feet instead then?
My concern with older patients is treating tail of corrugators! I always have them activate prior to injecting, but it still fills me with dread in case it diffuses into frontalis😮
Great video 😊
Hi Tim! I recently treated the glabella zone and did a brow lift for an older patient. She now 11 days later suffers from oedema around the eyes and says her vision is “blurred”. No eyelid ptosis. I never experienced this in a patient before.
Do you have an idea what caused this complication and if there is any way to improve it? Thank you so much in advance
Hello Dr. Pearce, thank you for another informative video; I love watching you so it helps me grow the courage to go in to a Doc near me that I will have knowledge upfront what to expect. I HAVE A QUESTION I PRAY YOU'LL ANSWER, IF POSSIBLE: I wear eye glasses and I FIGHT 24/7 keeping them CLEAN from just the basic oils we have on our face (it's truly a NIGHTMARE I'm so ready to fix!!). I'm NOT "greasy" at all, I guess it's just because by GLABELLA area, I THINK, might be a symptom of forehead ptosis?? My all-over eye region looks VERY, VERY droopy; in fact my eye doctor recommended I be checked for Myasthenia Gravis but apparently my PCP gave me the "green light" against that. Anyway, are "greasy" eye glasses a symptom of forehead ptosis and do you know if it is, whether or not medical insurance covers anything like that? If you're only comfortable answering the glasses question, that should at least put me on a road to start. Thanks doc and I hope you have an AMAZING YEAR!
Excellent video. Thank you.
Yes would love to see a video how to to treat eyebrow lift for older person because mine eyelid droop all the time after botox always worse 😢
Hi Dr. Pearce. I live in the U.S. and I have been approved for Botox for migraines (recently turned 61, Black female with slight 11 forehead lines, can't really feel them though). For migraine, is the dose the same all over the areas to be injected? Do you have a video or more info about this topic? I'm concerned about drooping. Thank you.
I noticed Spock eyebrows 2 days after dysport injection, can I have it fixed right away or I have to wait to the 14th day as the injector suggested? I don’t think it would get any better, why do I need to wait?
Yes, I had my eleven lines done and received Spock eyes after. I'd rather have the lines.
Great information! Linked video?
We've added the link at the very end of the video
After you get to the point I agree actually show this technique
I got dysport in my upper face for the 1st time (55 yo) three weeks ago and now I have hooded, puffy eyes, my eyebrows are flat/parallel to the floor, the space between my eyes is now wider & darker circles under my eyes :( My eyes were one area I really didn't have any issues, thought it would just freshen things up a bit . . . now I look 10 years older . . . I don't understand this new face I have to live with . . . and I am terrified things won't go back to my normal because of my age . . . and I have to wait 4-6 months to find out . . . absolutely regret!!!
Go back to your injector to fix it! Don't wait. This happens
GRACIAS SOY MAYOR. Y ME INTERESA LA PARTE DEL ENTRECEJO. SOLO ME APLICO 20 UNIDADES. PERO EN LAS 3 ULTIMAS APLICACIONES LA CABEZA DE MI CEJA. HA CAIDO, MIS CORRUGADORES. PROCERUS SON MUY FUERTES . YA NO SE Q HACER. LA SEMANA PASADA SE APLICO 10 . CUATRO EN CADA CORRUGADOR Y 2 EN EL PROCERUS. REGRESO EN 2 SEMANAS PARA VER SI FUNCIONO .O APLICAR NUEVAS UNIDADES. NO QUIERO NADA INVASIVO POR ESO USO EL BOTOX.
Very interesting! I’m in my early 60s I use Botox for neck bands-I’m hoping that over time they will start to relax on their own and I’ll need less, is this true for my age group?
They will atrophy and you will need less. They won’t “relax” on their own though.
Any Botox in forehead has only created a brow droop 😏
Hi Tim, For 2 years in my 60s I received 20 units of botox. Went up to 40 units and had canker sores in my mouth. Was told it was a auto immune problem. I was told that botox does not work in a 65 yo and up patients. I believe your explanation is the reason why. Dr's don't inject. Their staff does.
How about having 71 units in my forehead and it not working....... 57 yo. Not having botox for years. I was told it was my fault.
Your information is great but we need more video drawing and live than talking may be talking on real model and Manican!??
This is why face exercise --->botox.
Maybe face exercise won't reduce wrinkles but will give volume to face.
I have lines and wrinkles all over my face, I will keep them, not worth the risk destroying Gods perfect creation!
More power to you!!
Save your money stay natural. Too many people insecure about their features or getting old.
Maybe older patients over age 65 should not get botox. I'm 67 and never had botox. Now, I'm surely not going to. Lol
Some definitely shouldn't, but it can be very effective with good patient selection
@@DrTimPearcehow do you know if your a good patient? I am 71 and get Botox in my forehead ( mostly to treat the deep line in my forehead)….I have been doing it for years and find I only go 2x year
Doctor...please..you are talking too fast. Dont forget that many international doctors from different non English speaking countries watching you..
I cant follow your fast speech for long time.....please be littel slow .
Thanks
Great point….. talks way too much!
But great for a course in school
Get to the point, and show your technique
Easy
Literally can’t sit through less than 9 minutes 🤦♀️
Rude
Therein lies the problem. Understanding the root cause is the technique
The explanation of the “mistakes” like the title says is more important than pushing someone to start poking with Botox.
