Climb into a comfy chair and sit down with the Fairy Godmother of Herbalism, soak in all her beautiful words of wisdom, and be enlightened by her life lessons, how to communicate with plants, and bring out the wildness that lives in our deepest cellular core.
Rosemary Gladstar invites us to her beautiful home on Lake Champlain, Vermont, and walks us through her day-to-day rituals, how she greets every morning, and gives thanks when it’s time to drift into slumber, dreaming about the magical plants.
Destined to be a plant lover, Rosemary shares some early childhood memories, what got her on the path of herbalism, and expresses her life’s mission.
We live in a pretty tamed world today, and if you are someone who wishes to spend more quality time outside with Mother Nature, with your community, and wildlife, then you found yourself a real heartfelt gem.
We can’t thank Rosemary enough for the beautiful visit and taking the time to sit with us and allow us to see a glimpse into her lovely home, sharing some tasty meals, and showering us with so much love and compassion.

I didn’t know about Rosemary until a few years ago. I have been interested in herbs instead of pharmaceuticals my entire life. I suggest gratefulness as a power boost against obstacles of spirit and body and mind when asked. Practicing any amount will uplift more than just the person practicing. Thanks to everyone that made this short documentary possible. Rosemary Gladstar is one of my favorite people to hear speak about plants.

What a beautiful documentary. I met Rosemary in person at IHS last year and although she had no idea who I was, she was approachable, gracious, and welcoming. Thank you, Mason and Amanda for creating such a well done depiction of one of herbalism's greats.

Rosemary you have the most beautiful spirit and I am so grateful for your sharing this beautiful personal reflection. I learned so much and continue to learn so much from you in your herbalism course, your books, and videos and I am so grateful for the knowledge and wisdom you imparted into my life. But it is through your joyful spirit and grace that you open a special door for your imparting these things into the spirits of others and for this I am eternally grateful. One of the few disappointments in my life, is the fact that I did not get to study in person with you and to meet you. Thank you for have such a generous heart and spirit. Blessings to you! Such a lovely, awe-inspiring visit with a beautiful human being… Having been bedridden from a recent spine surgery, I truly needed these moments today; as I yearn to be outside in the midst of our lil slice of heaven, up in the Appalachian mountains (Cherokee land). I miss my gardens, spending time with my herbs, flowers, and other plants. I also miss spending time in my own apothecary, which is downstairs so I can’t get to it quite yet. I look forward to getting back to all of the above, and to creating again.
Something Rosemary said about love reminds me of one of my favorite poems from Mary Oliver. The first line of the poem is “my work is loving the world”: it’s something I read at a young age; and I knew was what I was meant to do - to love the world, not just people but also the plants, animals, and land - to quite literally just love!
Here’s the entire poem, titled “Messenger”
My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird - equal seekers of sweetness. Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.
Are my boots old? Is my coat torn?
Am I no longer young, and still half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished. The phoebe, the delphinium.
The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture.
Which is mostly rejoicing, since all the ingredients are here, which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart and these body-clothes, a mouth with which to give shouts of joy to the moth and the wren, to the sleepy dug-up clam, telling them all, over and over, how it is
that we live forever.
