Kathryn - I'm speaking to you from the future! (hahahaha - December 2015) It sure would be nice to see a new video about you years with freezer meals. What have you learned? What have you stopped doing? What should one avoid or stock up on? Etc. We are coming up on a stage of life (newborns coming very soon) when freezer meals would be a God-Send. It would be great to have a video on what was learned-on-the-job from someone who has been there already. Thanks!!
+Do It On A Dime hey ,if anyone else is searching for paleo diet book try Elumpa Paleo Eating Alchemist (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my buddy got amazing results with it.
This was right on time for me! A few days ago I purchased a magazine called Tast of Home to learn more on freezer cooking. Thanks so much for posting. The visual of a video showing the steps is so valuable for someone totally new to this method. Also, I really appreciate the link and spreadsheet!
It took my husband YEARS to come around to veggies. I really like how the one recipe has shredded carrots in the ground beef. You can't even taste it and it fools you into getting a serving of veggies! ;)
what a great idea! I've been looking for ways to eat out less because I'm pregnant and rarely feel like cooking. Thanks for all the work you do to improve lives.
Loved the video. We also prepare meals and freeze. We buy fresh potatoes from Costco, bring home and cook, and freeze. We make mashed potatoes, home fries, etc. it is very handy to get out and microwave when fixing meals. We also buy onions, celery and peppers when on sale, cut and dice up, fast freeze on cooky sheets, then put in zip lock freezer bags. So handy when making casseroles soups or stews. So many good ideas on your sites, as well as others. Thank you for sharing .❤️👍👵🏻🐶
This is fantastic. I've seen photos on pintrest of food hauls for freezing down meals but this is the first time I've found a video for it. Definitely going to come in handy. I work form home and the family always thinks that means I do nothing during the day because what else would you do from home? So I'm always looking for ways to stretch my time to complete my paid office work AND do the chores and find shortcuts for dinner time. I like making food from scratch, or near enough knowing exactly what goes into my meals. Thank you so very much for making this, it's going to help me greatly as I can save time on the weekends to pre-pack all of my meals!! x
Put the onions in the food processor, especially if you have that many. You can even do them in a big batch and freeze so you don't have to chop them for everyday meals.
I really appreciate the tip about writing the cooking instructions on the outside of the bag....just never thought about doing that. And thanks for recipes that actually sound like they're good. Some of these other channels...not so much.
I no longer have a large family to feed, but I think that this is awesome to give to someone who is ill, or has just had a baby. It's fresher than something already cooked, and can be eaten when the recipient feels like it
been looking around for slow cooker recipes and i have to say this is the best and most informative vid. i loved that you showed the cleanup aspect and your pup at the end was the cutest bonus! thank you for putting this out!
Great time and labor saving ideas! Who wants to cook everyday, especially if you are working all day. It's so much easier to throw something in a pan or pot and cook it up for a meal if all the shopping, washing, chopping has already been done. Or better yet throw it all in a crockpot in the morning and it's done by dinner time! Love it!
Good to get a few extra details from this one! I need to do this. Thanks. Just watched your newer video. You have come along way - I have been with your from the start! Love that they are only 5 mins.
Wow, go productive you, great video! I always batch cook when I'm baking because stuff freezes so well. I even individually bag muffins and sandwiches and freeze for the kids’ lunches at school. It saves SOOOO much time.
Whenever I've bulk cooked I've cooked everything and then froze it cooked.... sometimes they don't reheat well.... love the idea of just prepping everything and then throwing it in the slow cooker! I'm definitely going to need to try that instead :)
I just loved this video. I use my crockpot quite a bit, especially in the winter, but pre-prepping multiple meals would really free up my weeknights!! I am going to give it a try.
Great video and you have inspired me to give this a go. I work full time and thinking about what to cook and then cooking it at night is such a time waster. Thanks.
We use the "crock pot" brand programmable slow cooker. I think they are around $40-$50. In terms of money saved, I buy meat on sale (in bulk) so in that regard, it is much cheaper than buying it full-priced/in smaller quantities. I think the biggest thing that I save is time, though...esp. if you are already a bargain shopper.
I am obsessed with salads, too. It's been my go-to lunch all summer. Since we are coming into fall, I wanted to have some on reserve for lazy, cool days when I didn't feel like cooking. (We'll have those meals I showed on hand for about 3-6 months). I'll PM you some recipes that are good for summer-time though!
Great video. I do this from time to time and it really is wonderful when you come home from a long day. Another thing that I do is I will cook a very large meal say for instance lasagna. After we have eaten I will then divide up what's left over into large meals size packages or individual packages that then go in the freezer. It works out really well to have different sized meals in the freezer for nights when my husband is working late and I've already had dinner I can pull a smaller portio
We take it out of our freezer 24 hours before we are going to cook it. It must be thawed to go in the crock pot. Some of them have directions to add water and those are written on the ziplock bag. Happy cooking!
I love those crockpot liners. Makes clean up so easy... I just found a chicken taco crockpot recipe and I love it.. 4 half breasts chicken 1 cup salsa (whatever heat) 1 can of diced tomatoes ( i used rotel) you can drain if you want.. I didn't. 2 tbsp of taco seasoning (or 1 packet) Slow cooker for 3-4 on high or 7-8 on low Pull out the chicken about half an hour before its full time and shred the chicken put it back in the juices... Serve with corn tortillas .. Its Amazing!
the ground beef concoction that you made would be a great starter for my taco soup! I could just pull it out and my beans and corn tomatoes and broth that I make, set it and forget it. I'm going to steal that idea.
If it is your first time bulk cooking, it may take a bit longer. I spent about 2 hours (2.5 with clean-up) on the whole process. I bet your first time it might take you around 3? Good luck if you end up trying it! It IS worth it for the peace of mind.
Tip #1: Double bag the meal (1 bag w/directions & 1 bag w/out), you can reuse the bag with directions, so you don't duplicate your work. Tip #2: I use a magnetic clip on the side of the freezer and put the empty bag with directions on them and they will be ready to reuse. Tip #3: On my fridge next to my meal plan and grocery list, I have an inventory of my freezer meals...it make it easier to meal plan and write up the grocery list. HTH!
Lol, It is now April 2017, just came across this video! I love it.... some great ideas. I love freezer meals. Love your pup too... they are lots of work.... but so much love as well!!!
ok I found you for your car organization video. Just leased a new car want to keep it clean and stuff we need in it. Now I love you other videos. The Freezer cooking and saving on wholesale. You are down to earth. Thanks
How did I not come across your videos until now!!!! So far I love the ones I've seen!!! Definitely watching them! Thanks for this. I am trying to freeze meals as well, and this method is such a great idea!!!!
I take them out about 24 hours before I'm going to use them. For really thick packets, I sometimes take them out 1.5 days in advance...and they sit in the fridge until I'm ready to dump it in!
I do collard greens with smoked turkey wings and lima beans, and pinto beans. soo easy to just thaw and heat up. Gonna have to try meals. love the idea!
Damn woman, you are efficient! I am so gonna start doing this. I like cooking but I hate hate hate doing dishes all the time. This just seems so much smarter than anything else why not get it all done on a day off when you have time instead of every day when you may feel too tired.
Diane Monaco have you ever thought about a home health aid? we can do food prep as part of our duties, and most agencies will do occasional help as long as you give them notice so they can put it on their schedule. hope that helps :-)
Love your video's and am trying the homemade Pledge idea. Freezer tip. I always put my freezer meals in the fridge overnight to cold up *a word our home ec. teacher always used* before adding it to the freezer. Cold up will help the food freeze at a faster rate.
I'm very impressed. I love freezer bags and truly don't care about wasting them. I tried using the storage containers but threw them out too so why bother right?. I think it's more about what you want to do to make your life easier. What is my way may not be someone else's . There are flaws in everyone's daily life so what's a little flaw with a plastic bag !
Likewise. Of course, if you Google "freezer cooking" there's an infinity of websites with recipes. We don't necessarily need her list, although I would love to see it.

I love these tips--especially the one about freezing the chicken stock. This is especially helpful for people on a low sodium diet. The so-called low sodium chicken stock still has way too much sodium in my opinion. Thanks Doitoneadime!
Thanks so much for this video, even though I don't have a deep freezer my regular freezer will do just fine for the ziploc bags. These recipes are great.
great video i really want to try it but some of the recipe but my family dosn,t like some food and we live where its very hot and we have lots of flys in the house so i cook and dehydrate in my bathroom where the fly s carn,t get on.
Amazing video - totally gonna save to favs and email the link for future reference. Loved seeing the 'mess' that you accumulated... not too messy. Some ppl make more mess just making one meal...

I did 2 weeks worth of freezer meals one time when I knew I was going to have surgery. It was perfect. All my husband had to do was heat them up. :)
Put the onions in the food processor, especially if you have that many. You can even do them in a big batch and freeze so you don't have to chop them for everyday meals.

Very organized and well thought out! I used to do this...when I 2as younger and had 4 kids!! Thanks for all your hard work to show us!!
I love love love your videos, thank you so much for doing these. Not only very helpful, but you help motivate me.
Shredded chicken tip, after boiling it throw it into a stand mixer with the paddle attachment and mix away!! It will shred it in minutes!!
I use my Veggie Bullet which works on cooked meat as easily as the veg.
Shred with a couple of forks. Why make more of a mess?
Wow, go productive you, great video! I always batch cook when I'm baking because stuff freezes so well. I even individually bag muffins and sandwiches and freeze for the kids’ lunches at school. It saves SOOOO much time.

crock pot liners rock!!! love them.
No bpa in the liners I use
I loved this idea and can't wait to try these.
This is a great idea saves time to decide what is for dinner
Great tips! Just spent a few hours working through freezer meals and these were definitely helpful! :)

I love these tips--especially the one about freezing the chicken stock. This is especially helpful for people on a low sodium diet. The so-called low sodium chicken stock still has way too much sodium in my opinion. Thanks Doitoneadime!

This is so neat and organized
love your dog! looks like a rescue! good for you!
Amazing video - totally gonna save to favs and email the link for future reference. Loved seeing the 'mess' that you accumulated... not too messy. Some ppl make more mess just making one meal...
Great video @DoItOnADime! Super helpful! Thanks!
This is very helpful! I don't have a crock pot though, but they're not too expensive, so I'll just have to invest in one. Thank you for showing this!
+Patty Rivera If you are still looking for Crock Pots - during the Christmas shopping season, you can find them starting around $9.00. WELL worth the price and effort!!
You are a very resourceful lady!!
i have a crock pot concoction you may like. i make it stove top as well. You need yellow, red and green peppers cut up, and onion. then a can of texas style fire roasted tomatoes. 1/2 a pack of chicken taco seasoning. onion powder, garlic powder. two cans of drained beans. I like pinto and black beans, and i use one of each. some frozen corn, and then shredded chicken( i boil it in a pot on the side if im making this stovetop.) after everything comes together ..
OMG Your freezer was clean, not even a trace of ice on the sides, when mine is as empty as that (i.e. I can see and stack on the floor) the sides have always collected ice on them. I'd love to see a video of what you cooked, left raw, what instructions you gave on the bags, etc. I'm not as crock-pot savvy as you and am cooking for one, so I alway freeze single portions if I cook for myself. When you freeze bags stacked like that do they ever stick together?
You are a freezer genius! Thanks for sharing!
never thought of putting -raw food--ready to cook---only frozen--food already cooked---thank you--
Thanks for this great tutorial! I am planning on starting to freezer cook so this was very helpful!
I really hope you'll do another video like this!
I wished I could like this a 1000 times! :) Thanks for this video!!!
