Considering the volume of people that fly in and out pre-Rona, they've always been an efficient airport. Or so I think.. Flew in and out many times with little hassles.

Shawn; this was great! When I fly into McCarran I only go straight to where I need to be, so the tour was very much appreciated. Yes, I love the new floors in baggage claim. I couldn't help but laugh as I remembered when I was a teen, and remember the carpet, the slots, the music, the stretch limos and the Drivers holding the sign with the person's name on it. I KNEW I was in Vegas! Love those days! Glad you had a great flight to Tucson. CAB :)
Many thanks, Sean. How well I remember McCarran. I was at LV in March during the “Grand Closure.” 500 flights were canceled one day including mine owing to an ATC employee testing + for Covid.
@@Milestomemories it was a mess. When I was working, I had a traveling job. I attempted to go somewhere, LA, Phoenix, Dallas, St Louis. Nada. I rented a car one way drop.. couldn’t go back to the (closed)‘hotel.
Yeah that was a fun time. I work for spirit here and I remember a lot of flights being cancelled coming in and some being cancelled going out. We made bets everyday on how many flights we would be doing that day.
As a tourist from the UK (8 trips since 2000) McCarran is one of the easiest, most hassle-free airports to navigate and get through anywhere in the world. As a smoker I find it amazing that they still have a bar where you can actually light up indoors! I also like the small historical display area. My favourite part is always the 'Welcome To Vegas' video that plays in the main hall where you go down the escalator to the exit - just makes me happy to be back.
Nice video! I love the E gates (I'm a JetBlue frequent flyer). I feel like I'm in a modern international airport. On your ascent, you can still see the outline of the old terminal 2 in the concrete by the A gates.
You are right that you can see the old Terminal 2 building. I think eventually they'll use that space to add more gates to Terminal 1 if they need them. As for the E gates, they are definitely the best at McCarran. I'll hopefully do them along with A&B in a future video!
I work at McCarran for Spirit and it baffles me they didn’t do that construction or at least start it during those 3 months (April, May, June) when it wasn’t so busy. Now we are jammed up between Allegiant at A gates across from us and Southwest at the old B gates we used to use.
I went through the airport recently as well (arriving on United on the 7th and departing on the 10th). For departure, the TSA Pre-check wasn't open and this wasn't too early (around 9am), so I wasn't happy about that! I have Priority Pass and was glad that The Club LAS was open as the United Club is still closed. Overall I agree that the airport wasn't too busy but certainly not desolate.
Thanks for the info! That is strange for TSA Precheck to be closed. I've found them to be one of the airports that consistently has it open, but alas COVID no doubt has changed that fact. The new Club is very nice. I snuck in a shot of the entrance to the old Club at LAS (a stone table blocking the door right before the kids area shot) which was slightly bigger than a closet!
@@Milestomemories At security, those of us with precheck were given the white card so we didn't have to take our shoes off, otherwise the same treatment as everyone else. I last visited the Club prior to COVID when there was a hot buffet. Now it was just prepackaged items and not self serve - an attendant would get what you requested. Still it's a nice space, wasn't crowded at all and I got to enjoy a pre-flight mimosa. :-)

Coming from someone who’s worked at the Airport for the past 4 yrs., I’ll offer two travel tips based on my experiences working there. Travel tip 1: If you are flying out of the D gates and you are traveling with a CARRY-ON bag only, and you have your boarding pass, it is 10x more convenient to go through the Terminal 3 security check point. Both terminals have a tram that goes to the same D gates. If you get dropped off at terminal 3, departing flights, door 43 you are literally at the security check point. Once you pass through security, the escalator down to the D gate tram is right there at the check point. This will save you a lot of walking and a lot of time. Remember.... it only works if you have no need to drop a checked bag at your airlines ticket counter. Also, make sure your airline flys out of the D gates. Travel tip 2: Make sure your friend or Uber driver is dropping you off at the the correct terminal. Don’t just assume they know where they are going. On a daily basis Uber drivers routinely drop passengers off at Terminal 1 when they should be dropped off at terminal 3. Every airline has an electronic curbside sign adjacent to there inside ticket counter. If your driver is dropping you off and you don’t see your airlines electronic curbside sign... you are probably at the wrong terminal!
Good tips. I am team carry-on and ALWAYS use Terminal 3 instead of Terminal 1. Heck it is closer to the D gates technically and I'm generally through security in less than 5 minutes plus the drop off/pickup is less hectic.
