    Although we do have a good amount of people that drive into Las Vegas, majority of our visitors come by plane and choose not to rent a car. Personally I can't imagine being in Las Vegas without a car, but so many tourists do it time and time again. I do get asked directions a lot, and I get it, during the summer it's the worse to have to walk from one casino to the other. So I made a video to help you guys out on how to get around Las Vegas without a car. We're going to be getting on the Monorail, Downtown Loop, The Deuce Bus, and 3 different trams that will include Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio, Crystals, Aria, Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. There's still going to be a bit of walking, we can't escape that. Have fun!

    I've been in vegas multiple times and I never used car once. It's just amazing experience to walk the strip without driving it, when I get tired I take break and sit somewhere in one of the hotel or use the monorail or tram to get me back to my hotel.

      What most people don't know is there are car rental places at Treasurer Island (Hertz and Dollar I believe) that you can use if you need a car just for a couple of days of your trip (say to go to Red Rock or another place further away from the Strip). You simply bring the car back there. Beats the hassle of that damn car rental location near, but not at, the airport. Like you said, if you're just gonna be on the Strip there's no need to incur the expense of a car. Much easier using the transportation Norma mentioned.

    The deuce used to be fast. We just went 2 weeks ago , and now it is overly packed , I think more stops were added and now takes longer to go from the strip to Freemont st. Also , it doesn't always come every 15min. Sometimes we waited around 45-50min for the next bus. We lost alot of time waiting on the deuce overall

    My plan as an aspiring future local was to avoid the Strip especially since some of these videos tell me how the parking situation is NYC level but even as a non gambler, it looks like there are some cool spots to visit on occasion, not to mention if I was visiting friends in town, so it looks like the best strategy would be to drive to a bus depot (or better yet just take an Uber or Lyft to the bus depot...or walk I guess if ultimately get a place within waling distance since I do want to live near UNLV and I'm sure there's a bus depot near there) and then ride to the Strip or Downtown (which I might do just to do my pizza tour) and take the downtown loop or the monorail. I clocked some time on the bus in Las Vegas over the Summer a few years ago and for what it's worth, it is better than the bus in Reno, which is not a high standard but.... The point is, I'm not a big drinker either, but in case I did have any adult beverages, I think this strategy would be the most responsible way to go too, not to mention just avoiding the headache of parking in a big city. Whenever I visit San Francisco, I take the BART from Concord, or Oakland and I wish I had done something like that and taken the Subway when I was in NYC. Driving & parking in that city is insane! Thank you for another great video!

    The Las Vegas monorail brings the MGM in reach of the convention center. Treasure Island - Mirage monorail is great to avoid the heat to transport between properties. The ARIA express to get from Bellagio, Crystals, and Aria, to enjoy Eatly at Park MGM. The Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, and Luxor monorails, help avoid to the heat and minimizes walking to Mandalay Bay. They are free but can be closed at the most convenient time like Sunday and Holidays, you will still do alot of walking.

    Getting around the Strip/Downtown areas in Las Vegas is becoming more of a hassle, unless you want to pay/tip for valet. Even if you drive to their parking lots, it's still a walk to the casino areas, plus more casinos are charging for parking. Great tips in the video. October 2021: just spent a week in Vegas. Stayed @ Circa on Freemont and toured the strip a couple days. The Deuce was the way to go, cost is still $8 / 24hr for non-residents. Construction on the strip is pretty much done for now, but there was construction downtown that caused a couple stops to close with detours that are not noted in the app. The folks at RTC call center didn't seem to have a clue either which stops were active and which not. Freemont @ 4th *IS* active Northbound. More of the Southbound stops are closed around Freemont, but it's just fine to hop a Northbound bus and jump on the next bus ahead at The Mob Museum if your driver takes a break (they will tell you).
    Due to labor shortage, The Deuce busses are running about every 30 or so minutes, but sometimes arrive in clumps (2 at a time) then nothing for 45+ minutes.
    Between downtown and the airport, Uber was the way to go for us (about $30 each way before tip, but prices varied dynamically real time by the minute between about $25-$40 depending on time of day and user demand).

    To us renting a car in Vegas is a MUST. We come yearly and like to drive out to Red rock once a trip.... take a cruise out to the desert and like to visit / explore at least 1 new area or place outside of the city. Plus bouncing around from downtown to the strip beats waiting for the bus. Then again... we budget for it and its our prefered method. Some can do just fine without!

      Same here. I've been going to Vegas for over 20 years now and have always had a rental car. I don't even stay on the strip anymore and by doing that I get a suite for less than a regular room on the strip. Also prefer going to restaurants off the strip as less crowded and therefore no queuing to get seated. Like going out to places like Red Rock, Henderson, Summerlin, Valley of Fire State Park. Wouldn't have the freedom to do this without a car

    Been a few times to Vegas use the RTC buses a lot but know the difference between them if u are on the strip and going to Fremont (dtlv) get on the SDX the bendy bus it has less stops and should be quicker than the deuce. If u want to stop on strip at casinos use the deuce. Know your stops not every stop serves both buses either. The monorail while fast at the spine of the strip has a drawback u have to walk thru the casinos to get back onto the strip so while fast a-b and can be great when traffic is busy on strip u could get held up walking through casinos.

    Good useful tips on getting around. The only drawback of the monorlal is some of the places where you get off are quite inconvenient. You have quite a walk from the back of these casinos. Some stops, though, are very good - especially at the Westgate which is a bit off-strip but convenient to get to via the monorail. Just my 2 cents. Great video Norma!

    Monorail issues...
    Be aware that the monorail may stop for the night much earlier than publicized. For example - When we got to the MGM station at about 11.45pm on July 15th recorded announcements were playing telling us it would be stopping at midnight, with no explanation. Anyone who was still at the MGM after that time was stuck with no transport back down the Strip.
    As for the Deuce...
    The Deuce buses can & will drive straight past stops without picking up customers if they want to. For example, on July 14th, 2021 TWO buses - about 5.45 and 6.00pm - did just that, despite people waiting at the stop by the Venetian. Then later, trying to get the Deuce from the Fremont St area back to the Venetian by midnight was a dismal failure as well. We got to the Deuce bus stop near the Walgreens on Fremont St at about 11.00pm to see a Deuce pull away fully loaded. We waited with about 20 other people for the next one to come. 15 mins ... 30 mins... 40 mins, and still no Deuce. After about 45 mins the phone app said a Deuce was heading towards us, and the ETA countdown got down to 3 mins before changing to about 17 mins... We weren't the only ones who gave up and got Ubers... Useless.
    Airport transport...
    Unless your hotel has a free shuttle service, and depending on how many people are going, the fixed rate taxi option is often cheaper, and is definitely quicker, than hotel shuttles. You don't have to book in advance either.

    109 or 108 Bus from the Airport to Downtown is $2.

    you don't need to drive your own car to vegas or rent a car after you fly, taking the bus, or a train to vegas. you can take their tram, if your at the Tahiti villige or other time share they have shuttle bus you can use, you can use lift, Monorails, or the subway system calls the loop.

    If you ever want to travel to Green Valley Ranch Casino and do not have a car, you can catch a GVR shuttle from Mandalay Bay. Its a beautiful casino and right next door to a great BBQ restaurant called Lucilles.

    Thanks for your awesome vids and for Vessi!! Just ordered a pair and can't wait. The Deuce is hilarious at night but can get super packed with the driver having to constantly yell at people to not go up the down stairs, and vice versa which is funny when it's tourists who don't have a great grasp of English..but it's a great way to get from the Strip to Fremont. Have ridden it often over the years.

    Although we love to walk, we've taken advantage of the trams, monorail, buses (both Deuce & LTC although the former is slower since there's more stops) and on occasions, taxis.......when my wife wants to go to the shopping outlet.....lol. We've been to Vegas about 15 times (maybe more) and I do recall on three visits we've rented a car with the last time being quite a few years ago. In reality, you don't need one unless you plan to visit outside of the city as there's other ways to get around the city itself. Well done Norma, thanks for the vid!

    Several years ago, I used to take the DEUCE from FREMONT ST to THE STRIP but I stopped because coming back to Fremont Street, the buses were always packed and more often than not, the buses would not stop to pick me up. In order to get on the DEUCE back to Fremont, I had to walk all the way to Circus-Circus in order to catch an empty bus. Now, it's more convenient to drive my car and park at Planet Hollywood or at the Venetian for FREE!

  • @johnslyfield5096
    @johnslyfield5096 2 роки тому

    The monorail isnt the best way, because it's so far away from the casinos. They used to have a strip and downtown express, but they discontinued that. The Deuce is decent, but it's not very reliable. Also, I never knew the loop served the Stratorsphere (can't stand name changes)..
    A note on fares: Premium fares is only charged for tourists riding the Deuce. If you're not riding the DEUCE or you are a local, you don't pay the premium fare, although if you board a local bus and are planning on riding the deuce later, you can purchase the premium fare on the local bus.

    Great ideas….last several times, I’ve taken the City Bus FROM the airport, connected to the Deuce at the South terminal, and gotten to my hotels faster than when I used to rent cars. With the rideshare prices and delays, your ideas are very helpful. When I’ve gone Back to the airport, I’ve taken the Deuce to Gillespie gotten off and hopped on the RentACar center bus. Thanks for your great video.

    For the past 4 years (last one is 2019) I attended the SEMA Show as media.....When my asst rented a car (the first year I went to Vegas) we would go to the LV speedway and parking was a zoo....Then, when he drove to find parking nearby the LVCC (conv. center) the lot was 1/2 full but the walk from there to the center was way long! Also, the drive can be very hazardous....unlike where I am from, the driving can be nasty. So for the next 3 years later, I tried taking the bus system (to and from)....the monorail (after SEMA ended for the night)....and the cost savings is GREAT! (unlike catching a taxi or UBER). I did the "end to end" walk from Mandalay Bay to the other side of the strip and it was great exercise! I also went from the north side to south side of Fremont Street which was great also but a bit of caution, when you go to the area where this older hotel still stands and opposite, that big propane operated locust statue is, you probably will have to watch your back a bit more. BTW....Norma is tempting me to go to Vegas SO BAD!!! Once covid hit the US, we all are quarantined and trapped in our homes!! Now, my city is slowly getting back to normal BUT I hear LV is still kinda like 50-50.....so despite my 2 shots, I dont want to travel yet to Vegas.

I’ll be out in Vegas in a few months and I plan to take every and all necessary modes of public transportation as opposed to my brother who’ll be traveling with me but who’s choosing to rent a car and drive everywhere, but with rental and parking costs, it seems like the Monorail, the deuce and the trams are the more economical way to go.

    Car rentals used to be a no brainer, because they could be as low as $30 bucks a day if you reserved early enough. And parking was free. With Hertz(the original one) going under and inflation, car rentals are at least 70 for the lowest, and then you have to pay 18 dollars a night for parking, even if you're a hotel guest(Mlife if lower than pearl status). I still rented, but doing research next trip. If I went public transportation route. It's CX express from airport. So for 2 bucks it's to near MGM properties on south strip, or straight to downtown. That's kind of a price hack for downtown from airport, instead of taking the deuce with is 6 bucks.
    The thing I learned in your video is about 'the loop'. Thought the only way downtown once you were at your hotel on the strip was The Deuce.

    • @nevyn1221

      Why would there be videos on the monorail? It is a joke unless you have very specific use cases. If you arent going to the convention centre or sahara, or specifically starting at MGM and ending at Harrahs on that side of the strip, it hardly saves any walking because you have to walk so far behind the properties. It only really air conditions more of your walk. Stops are limited, and it is pricier than the buses which are right on the strip.

    • @sox-on-a-duck693
      @sox-on-a-duck693 3 роки тому +2

      @@nevyn1221 Yeah. They screwed up big time making the monorail so far from the Strip. No wonder it almost went bankrupt. They SHOULD have made it to run OVER the Strip, as originally planned, but the taxi companies lobbied to stop that notion.

    Never had a car either as a tourist or resident. Never took the monorail. Looks like the Convention Center really expanded. Even walking around Las Vegas has changed. They have a lot of bridges going over Las Vegas Blvd taking you to the other side. Do they have a lot of shuttle buses? How much do they cost? When I lived in Las Vegas you could get a bus pass for $20 a month. And twice a year a bus pass was good for two months. It was sticky very few times when I lived in Las Vegas. But, it did get that way a few times. The Tram wasn't as extensive as it is now when I lived in Las Vegas. Walking around gave me a lot of exercise. Is there a bus that goes up and down Flamingo Rd? This must be February or March. When I lived in Las Vegas those where the rainy months.
