    The Resort Tower hallways themselves are a relic of Days Gone By. You could drive a golf cart down those hallways. Today, space is at such a premium you will never see a hallway that large, or those nice sitting areas near the elevators.

    One of the things I always liked about Ballys was the pool, which, having been built in the late 1970s, is deep. That usually means it's nice and cold, which is great in the summer heat.

    I really enjoy using the monorail when you are staying in one of the connected hotels, it really does make things easier to navigate. Hopefully it opens back up soon. Really enjoying your content. I am supposed to go to Las Vegas in December and I am still debating going (because of the pandemic) so your videos are helpful to see what’s going on and how serious folks are taking the pandemic. What I loved about this video is the fact it shows other things exists in Vegas apart from casinos ( DOH I know). The restaurants,eatery’s and fabulous gift shops. Bally’s was, in the early to mid 90’s, our “Go to” place because, for about two years (maybe ‘92-‘94, right when we were first married but before the kids!) they had an ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL offer! 2 nights room, 2 tickets to either Jubilee or whoever was in the showroom (we ended up seeing the surprisingly fantastic Tom Jones at least 3 times and the less-fantastic Righteous Brothers twice), 4 buffets and $20 in coins--for $99!! Simply the Best offer I’ve ever seen in Vegas in my 30 years living out here in San Diego!

      Because they had to make up for all the dead people from the fire. NO ONE wanted to be in the building. Still carries some bad vibes if you know what happened. I went to the Grand Opening in about 1974. I was about 14.

    • @Milestomemories

      I didn’t feel anything supernatural but no doubt that was a huge tragedy that looms over the history of this place.

      @@Milestomemories I ate in the Deli probaby 15 times before the fire. My mother owned a travel agency in Orange County so she would get free stays often and we would go as afamily on my dads days off. After the fire and as I got older I would go myself. I was trying to overcome the strange feelings but never did. I still think about it every time I see a video like this. Just a reminder of how fast it can be over.

I was the tour guide as well and went on every trip. I've stayed in just about every motel hotel in Vegas past and present. Now I visit Vegas for a week in june and a week over Christmas. I'll be back to Ballys for a week starting December 19. I love the larger rooms in Ballys. The fridge and great food like Wahlbergs and and the Blue Ribbon Chicken. I remember the Sunday buffet when it was like $49.00 Not a $125.00. That was still outrageous. I'm getting a week for $128.00 I wonder which tower they will be using over the Holidays (maybe both). I'm going to catch up on all your videos.

    In the '80s (when I lived there) I used to play poker at Bally's during the transition from MGM Grand. The late Red Foxx was frequently in the room, sitting in his coat and playing a quiet game of stud. The regulars let him be and tourists usually had no idea who he was.

    Thank you for the video! We are from Southern California, and we always choose to stay at Bally's for it's central location on the strip, reasonable hotel prices, and we always loved getting the exact room you showed! We also love that it's not as "busy" as the surrounding modern casinos, and we could always walk to Paris for a quick change of pace.
    The shops and eateries in the area that connects Paris and Bally's is always great to walk through (the Crepe shop is always a must-stop), as well as the little mimosa window right across.
    We look forward to returning to Vegas as soon as everything gets better! Thank you again for the great content, and look forward to more of your videos!

    Back in the old days when Bally's was the MGM, they had a live male lion that you could get a picture with, or get eaten by.
    They also had a great collection of movie memorabilia and it was free.
    I always wondered what happened to the memorabilia items. One thing that was interesting was the very small size of the movie star dresses from the 40s and 50s.

    Great vlog! I am a Diamond member like you. I usually stay at Ballys for the location more than anything else. Actually I like the location of the pool. It's quiet back there and the only one with a deep end. The fridge in the room is handy. You can go next door to CVS and stock it up and save $$. The Starbucks at the front of Ballys is my favorite in Vegas. It is huge and architecturally inside it is unique. I have never seen anything like it. Worth a visit. It is staffed by Starbucks employees, not Caesar's and has a good selection of sandwiches. Good wifi.

    Funny...I prefer a long, skinny casino to a sprawling monster like MGM! Glad you got to stay at Bally’s...it’s a great location! I’ve had many nice things happen here...left $20 bucks in a machine once and was able to get it back cuz a kind staff member retrieved it and contacted me about it using my slot card; helped a guy look for a loose diamond he dropped outside the jeweler’s in the Mall area..funny to see several folks scuttling around on the floor outside the door...and we found it! Went to a pre-screening of the tv series “Heroes” there (got $20 bucks and popcorn too for my review...loved that series!) Randomly found $32 in an empty dresser drawer there...never figured that one out; won $250 bucks on the huge slot machine in the Paris-Bally’s corridor..paid out in $1 tokens, I think! And loved playing video poker just outside the Indigo Lounge when one of the R&B bands was performing. Good times....and I heard the name will soon be changed to “Horseshoe”! Love your vids!

    My first time to Las Vegas, in 1991, I stayed at Bally’s. It’s had quite a few refurbishing and upgrades since I was there. My room had a nice view of the side street and the side ofbthe hotel across the street; I lose track of that was O’Shays or Barbary Coast (both have changed since then, as have many, many others.) nothing particularly fancy, on the order of what you’d find from Holiday Inn, Ramada or other mid-range hotels elsewhere. The bed was comfortable and it had a couple comfortable easy chairs. TV was okay, for 1991 standards, and included pay-per-view movie choices; something still fairly new at the time. While I’d been to Vegas several more times, I often visited the casino but never stayed there again.

    I go to Vegas quite a bit and i have to say i get comped at all Caesars properties. Out side of the palace, Ballys is my go to spot. I'll add a couple f things for your readers. The rooms are much larger than paris and don't over look the fridge. Vegas is doing the upsell all the time so having cold water or drinks ar hand beats running downstairs all the time and paying top dollar. Also the center strip location is a huge plus. Your near everything. Plus you can sneak out the back and in just a couple of block walk, your near ellis island and tuscney suites which have a lot of good and cheap dining options. The sports book was planned so that people could use the nearby outside lot and quickly run in and make bets. of course this was before online gaming. Ballys has the only deep pool on the strip. So if you actually want to get totally wet and swim its the bomb. Lastly, Ballys s more of an adults place. It's old school comfortable,good location etc. but great for people who want to gamble, see vegas and actually enjoy sleeping lol it's not a club resort so not packed with drunkin kids or families...just sayin

    Bally's use to operate table games in that mall...@7:05 about at this spot - you can see the eyes in the sky. Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken is delicious, give it a try. Boy, as you noted, if you stay here and want to go to the pool - that going to be quite a hike. If you stay in the tower that is closer to the strip, you'll get to walk though the casino to get to the pool. When you showed the gym for the hotel it reminded my the Bally's used to operate a chain of gyms, Bally's Total Fitness. That place has a lot of history. I think the shops in front were built on the cheap, that area is just so awful looking.

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah the pool area is so far and you're right the Jubilee (I think) Tower closest to the Strip is such a hike for guests. Even the main tower is a long walk. Interesting they used to have games down in the mall. I guess it makes sense given the location of the Sports Book. I used to really not like the Grand Bazaar Shops but I guess I have sort of gotten used to them and grown to like them. It is definitely a huge contrast to the Bellagio Fountains across the way and I don't mean that in a good way. Thanks Al!

I stayed almost up on the top floor the first time, found it was sorta noisey where I was. Just this last time had a smaller room, 1 queen on the 4th floor. Not too bad but wasn't much of a view and sorta noisy being almost next to soda vending machine. traffic...

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 роки тому

      The Flamingo has pretty standard rooms I'd say for that level of property. I don't think standard rooms in Linq, Harrah's, etc. are much different size wise. If you want bigger room then you get them when you step up to higher end properties like Wynn, Venetian, etc. The newer casinos probably have better soundproofing too!

      Normally you book into one tower or the other, but you could definitely request it. The tower is actually called the Jubilee Tower but South Tower was its old name. During the week I think sometimes they have it closed (as it was for my stay). One thing to keep in mind is that Jubilee Tower rooms were renovated in 2014 (I think) while the tower I stayed in was renovated a year ago. Both rooms are decent but the one I stayed in is probably a little fresher, although with more distant views.

    I see that empty fridge, I'm definitely booking. This is the main reason why I've mostly stayed at Treasure Island. I've stayed at other MGM resorts where they fill it up and if you remove any items, they will charge for it. I can't believe they charge $40-$50 for resort fee and you can't even use the fridge. At the Mirage they wanted $30 a day if you wanted an extra fridge they can provide you with 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️. I can't wait to get back to Vegas. I totally agree with you with the Grand Bazaar Shop, looks so dated and cheap. Don't care about any of the shops there. Last Jan I was walking around there at 3am and to my surprise, there were several "working girls" standing around there working the street. But there was no usb, and only two electric plugs, one being in the bathroom. The view was of the whole Eiffel tower, Paris pool, 3/4 of Bellagio fountain, & south strip. I preferred the old street front, it was great color & fantastic for people watching. Vegas has too many shops- and they frequently go belly up because of it. As for Blue Ribbon, I got chicken there twice- but only because I wanted meat. Didn't care for it, skin was the only flavorful thing. The actual meat was way too bland. But it's quick, and the employees couldn't have been nicer. Biggest bummer for Bally's= 103° and the pool was closed!
