Amazing! I was born here but my folks are GT my older sisters were born back home. My mom passed when I was young so I remember eating all these thing but didn't learn to make them, and my sisters all married American men( who I love) but I married a Trinidadian. So your channel will help me teach my kids all that I thought was lost.
Thank you for sharing.
I hope 🤞 that Trini 🇹🇹man know how to make fry bake 👌🏾😃

your uncle needs to make this rolling pin thing a business that's dope
I was using a different recipe for bakes but decided to try yours. Let me tell you these were the best. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽. Thanks for sharing.
girl what you mean you dont know where we can get one? you can put your uncle in some big business
Akima Aberden Kl
just thought the same thing immediately
Lmao riggghhht??
I was thinking the same thing.....Uncle were are you?
I was saying the same thing lmaoooo
You said your uncle made your rolling pin? Did he make this special for you? Or does he also make them and sell them? That is a really nice Rolling pin. Please ask him if he also makes them to sell? If so how much? And how I can get one? Also this is the first time I have saw one of your videos. I think it is very good and informative you take your time and explain everything to include watching of the hands. 😊
The stainless steel rolling pin ,is sold at "Amazon".

Hello... THANKS FOR SHARING ...YOU ARE THE BEST AS YOU ARE THE FIRST WHO MENTIONED WASHING OF HANDS FOR CLEANLINESS FIRST. I FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU RIGHT THEN.
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS........ALWAYS.
Guyanese knows about cleanliness
So who don't know they have to wash their hands before cooking lol
@@patrodrigues2970 A lot of folks apparently. People can be nasty.
You would think people would know to wash their hands and if not 💁shame on them.
@@patrodrigues2970 thats what I said.😄
I tried your recipe and the bake came out excellent! I would certainly recommend it.Thank you so very much.
Thank you for posting! My Mother would use white sugar and cut the dough into triangles! So many nice memories :)
WHAT!!!! Your uncle MADE THAT ROLLING PIN???? Wait!!!! You said MADE!!! I dont believe that. That rolling pin looks like it was factory made especially for BEYONCE! Ive NEVER EVER seen a rolling pin soooooo glamourous. You are blessed.
Yeah, that rolling pin is really slick!
I stirred the brown sugar in warm water. It raises the dough faster.i also add some light butter and a touch of salt in the flour.i then rolled out the whole batch of dough and cut into 6 inches squares. Then fry.
Betoghanie Kulsum that’s cool I like the idea
You should start a UA-cam channel
That's what I do
Beto Ghanie yes that is same way I does mines
make your own video and share your recipe then
Didn't use all that sugar bit it came out perfect
Perfect looking bakes,love your explanation.
lovely bakes, i love how it swells up easy to open, and soft looking....
wool! I am Jamaican and had some of these in NY, I always wanted to know how they got it so fluffy! loved your video, great quality and informative.
Yea I am JAMAICAN too and i wanted to learn to make it like a guyanese
i am goimng to make it but with milk and milk imnstead of water
Just taking the time to say 🙏 THANK YOU I’m been asking my mother to teach me this and that day haven’t come ever... now that I have seen this video and I see the greatest quality of bakes I truly know I’m gonna nail the recipe in the kitchen.... you’ve inspired me to show my mom that I can be great or greater even though it seems like clueless
You have a very sweet voice and explain things very well. This recipe would be called a " sweet poori" in the Indian cuisine. We normally eat plain pooris with a savory and spicy potato curry or a mixed vegetable preparation called Saagu. Whatever you call it, this is very yummy. Thank you
Oh my gosh my mom favorite bake to make every Sunday morning to eat with sardine or salmon stew. May god rest her sole in peace.
I love the way you explain everything.
These are similar to Indian fry bread and also to sopapillas....All so great !!!
simple explanation, easy instructions and great bakes!
Rona Remdes Don't know why people post cooking videos and then don't answer questions regarding the recipe.
Thanks,simple and precise,i,will try this
the best bake ever !!! l say this even without tasting it .
good cook!!!!!
I made this last friday... it was the best ever
It looks great but I would have loved if you cut it to show the inside.
Where is the butter?
And the salt
My grandmother use tok make this everytime I went back home in GT
Fantastic video.
I just tried it and it came out exactly as it should
Thank you!
oh no gurl, yu farget the butta /margarine?, and a pinch of salt.
Guyanese tend to cook with a lot of sugar and salt. But a whole cup is much but she said use how much you want.
3 tablespoon sugar to a cup of flour I think would be okay
Puffyness comes from rolling it not too thick and hot oil. Some people like it airy with nothing inside and some people like it with "guts", more doughy inside.
Shes also just demonstrating. This is a breakfast food in Guyana/ or a very quick "no cook" meal in the evening not something you labour over...its not bread where you have to get it perfect...its more like making pancakes. You dont have to be too careful.
Just dont work the dough too much...like any dough related item
Bollywood. Movie
I tried it your way ( thats without the Yeast ) using the baking powder and it came out perfectly.
Yeast is over rated.......as the years gone by i so very ever use yeast.......
As i recall the video she only use baking powder.

So happy i found this recipe from nine years ago. My bake always come out either hard or not cooked inside (even when I use other youtubers recipes) I used yours for dinner tonight and my bake came out perfect. Soft, cooked on the inside and it swell too! Thank you soooo much! ❤

thank u 4 sharing I cook most of the time, I will try your receipe and put it down with saltfish tonight
Looks good and easy to make but I thought you suppose to add butter in the mix too?🤔
they can use a liquor bottle if they dont have a rolling pin
Perfect when you fill it with water
Lmao on the liquor bottle. Because y'all know GT folks got them liquor bottles for sure. Lol
That's what I used lol
I DOES USE A STAINLESS STEEL CUP.
Wow you brought back some childhood memories dey boi. My mom used a glass ketchup bottle
I love bake wit saltfish with pourage
The bake so fricking gooooooood I am going to make some now thanks for shearing 👍👍👍
Fantastic Video, learn so much from it okay now going to make some bake.Keep up the good work.PS do some more Guyanese flavor food.
Can't wait to try this!!! Thank u!!
Hey, nice dish...looked yummy. We make a similar fried puff pastry in India with mashed ripe bananas added to the dough and that is yummy too. Try out the mashed banana filling variety, you might just have to reduce the amount of sugar in it based on how sweet the bananas are.
sm k I'm pretty sure bake in the Caribbean is an influence directly from India. And thank goodness for that. 😊
aliveandconnected Yes bake roti dhall puri are from India.
@@aliveandconnected true. My Trinidadian friends always make bake for me when I visit them. I can't really remember having from my cousins who were born there from Barbadian parents. I don't know why but they were all vegetarian, and use gluten free flour.
@@aliveandconnected Bajan bakes are not make like those though
P no Thankscar
I'm twelve and I just made fry bake for the first time ever from my grandma's way and next time try using yeast and baking soda way better Guyana style

We make those here in Belize, I usually add a little butter and little salt and way less sugar. We call them fry cakes or fry jacks. Love them, perfect for breakfast.

You have a beautiful voice. I will try your recipe. Thank you...
Thank you
We make these in puerto rico, but we add butter and we also make a coconut flavor one.
We also add butter to ours. I didn't in this recipe but that is an ingredient that is sometimes added.
I made these for my kids and husband. They loved them they came out just as good as urs. Thank u for the demonstration😊.
Wow Poories as called in India. when you dip these round dough Bakes in oil, press a little from topthat way they sure puff up and also pour oil on top to let them cook frominside. Wow you have cooked perfect pooriesthey look yummy. Baking power suger is not necessary. Take whole wheat flour knead the dough into thick dough notsoft. But it should be well kneaded. Then with oil on your palm work on to knead it some more and till it is very soft but firm. Well Done.
Waw thanks for making this vedio it was really helpful now I can make a lot for my family
Thanks again for me how to make bake, I tried few years ago, I put the fire on high, anyway, medium, ok, Thanks again.

Thank you so much. Make sure you subscribe for new videos coming this week.
Wow, you can put it down, great vid; can't wait to try this and many more of your cooking. Will Subscribe.
Nice recipe.
There's a difference between floats and bakes. Bakes are doughy on the inside whereas floata are hollow on the inside.
I was hoping you would slice one open.
Looking good Althie. X (I mean the bakes!!!)
Looks delicious .....great demonstration ..
Farida Ramdhanie t
u can also put some milk powder est and some butter or olive oil it will come out more puffy and when it's hot it will crisp and when it's cold it will be soft

Very nicely done! I enjoy its a lighter version of Cruzan Johnnie (journey) Cakes. Thank you for continuing to share Caribbean traditions from the kitchen!

So butter and salt are not necessary?
No butter-some salt-If you want your bakes to float- don't use butter.
Magic.
Wow, mouth watering, but what did you use here, all purpose flour or wheat flour
Is about time we learn to fix our food, and avoid the restaurants. Very much appreciated.
who' your uncle, that look like it was made at Guysuco Training Centre.
It was made at Wales estate but my husband who is a went to Guysuco training center said fitter machinists made them as well.
Girl I've just fallen into your vlog by accident, after watching another recipe for bakes. I I I I hope you read this you get to read this comment, and yes Uncle Tony should mass produce that rolling pin. It is quite funky. Love to you
Wow look good
Big up all de way from Linden!
I can't wait to try your step. I usually fold in the flour. My Roti is not very soft. Thank you
When i make my fried bakes i add cornmeal!
What does corn meal do to them? More fluffy
She and her uncle. Sitting on a goldmine. Why is is call bakes.?
I usually don't eat from people or eat out for the simply reason NOT EVERYONE WASH THEIR HANDS before touching food but I wouldn't hesitate to eat from you THANKS FOR SHARING hands carry every germ possible washing them are paramount
That rolling pin, we used to make them at Albion sugar estate, I made few for my family, i have one with the whole thing made of glass look. I probably know your uncle ( we used to make them on the sly )
Suggestion: Add a little flour to your rolling pin before you roll out dough so it will not stick to Rolling Pin.
Thank you very helpful video
Good to see her hands that's a good cook
Peanut oil is the best oil for frying. Health wise all the other are bad.
Girl I was told to look for your black cake recipe, You don't have one, so I'm going to attempt my own version. Tell Uncle Tony I want one of those rolling pins and also tell him to get his finger out and start manufacturing them, he'll roll in it if he starts production. XXX Just checked out your web and found it. Yah.
Please make more Guyanese dishes!! :D I lovee them!
omgg i love this bake. my mom use to make this and sins i married and move i didn't eat this back again almost 9 yearss.

+Vinita sarabjeet hehe I will give it a try, thnx
haha , delicious
jennifer chung
SO delicious...........GT style.
I am Guyanese but we never used that much sugar. We would use approximately 2 tablespoons or so and a pinch of salt. However, she did mention that if you do not like so much sugar you can use less.
