Not if you stop feeding them or show them who is the alpha but humans are soft and think a wild animal should be getting pampered in it's habitat where it has everything like they are being some good special people doing a good dead. Like it is going to come to your house and cook breakfast for you if roles were reversed and cater for you, this just creates unnatural behaviour and makes them aggressive and start acting dominant, they often stronger than the average human in the first place these humans are dumb.

Actually the reason she was holding him is because she knows the guides will give her fruit in order to let him go. Essentially she’s taking him hostage, it happens quite a bit with tours that don’t take very many precautions like this.

nah they arent mean but they know while they around the group they will get attention and more importantly tasty foods. so thats why they sometimes hold people for longer. not every oranguta does that. im sure some are genuinely friendly and curious. so they are very intelligent.

While she was taking walking the guy down she was grabbing things and eating them at a stop, and also took him to a water source, I think she was showing them where the food and water was. Very smart! Must have grown up in a rehabilitation center for baby orangutans and was teaching, (they learn to teach from their teachers just as much as they learn to hunt, climb, and socialize from their teachers)
@@mromatic17 no she already had food and dropped it just to take them to another source. orangutans and monkeys in the wild have learn to hold someone until they get something back, but they won't walk them anywhere they just be aggressive with the hand until they get back. this orangutan wasn't aggressive at all amd continued to hold the guys hand even when eating a whole meal. this was for sure raised in a rehabilitation center for baby orangutans. you can even sew she was showing (what I assume to be her baby) how to do certain things that isn't natural behavior for orangutans in the wild more so often learning these things from those kinds of rehabilitation centers to get them back into the wild with knowledge on certain things.
It is a communication of her ability to KNOW the calibre of the individual she choose to met her child and walk with to the river. Primates are highly intelligent. She knew Max was someone worth being with.
Teaching her kid how to ensure payment for all the footage they are giving. She’ll let him go whenever keeping him doesn’t serve her interests anymore.....humans can definitely relate

I adore orangutans. I'm sure I would feel apprehensive about being held like that by an animal that has 7 times my strength. They aren't overtly aggressive unless threatened. I think I would try to be as calm as possible if I were in this situation. This guy did a really good job of remaining calm. Maybe he had no fear at all. I love orangutans!

Im not sure how to interpret it tbh. Orangutans work way differently than us. What might be more or less friendly gesture by both spicies has much different "deeper" interpretation and she actually might try to keep him what for us is "hostage" so he provides her food. In other video the caretaker lady for captured orangutans warned about letting them get a good group on you. She spoke about males but probably have that instinct too. They just won't like go until they are bored of you and there might be some conflict if you fight out of the grip.

For those that don't know, this is very common in Indonesia and they will actually refuse to let go many times unless you give them food. They have been known to become very aggressive and will even bite off the fingers of people. This isnt "cute" behaviour. Don't believe me? Kevin Flaherty it did... obviously ... or are you trying to say you’re surprised it didn’t react more so to act out and display it’s obvious fear and nervousness ? Bc clearly , it was not comfortable with those people and exhibited behaviors indicative of that.

For those that don't know, this is very common in Indonesia and they will actually refuse to let go many times unless you give them food. They have been known to become very aggressive and will even bite off the fingers of people. This isnt "cute" behaviour. Don't believe me? Go look up on UA-cam "Held hostage by an Orangutan at BukitLawang Jungle".
bite OFF fingers? That's a lie! Sure, they have done little nips in the videos, but never actually bit off a finger or done any serious harm for that matter, if so, please do provide a source of that...
